Watch of the Wicked (Devil's Witch Book 3)

Chapter 13-The Visitor

Will

I know he’s got her locked up in the house somewhere. It’s up to Valerie and I to save this town from the lunatics. We got to open the portal and bring back the coven first though. Otherwise, we’ll just be outnumbered again.

We have to get the high council back down here and now I have to convince them our town’s overrun by vampire supremacists. It will be hard to do now since they weren’t very happy with their last visit down here dealing with our coven. We’ve earned a bad rep thanks to Patty and the number of her friends who just couldn’t leave the witch dead.

It’s been about a week since the cops have taken over Wixton. The humans have no idea of the massacre they brought on my people. It might be better that way though. I’m going to be careful. I know they’ve been wiretapping my phone and spying on me too to make sure I will be a good little mayor for them.

I’ve memorized the sadistic vamp’s work schedule already. He’s been staying at his family’s ranch house now and the only reason I know is because he’s making me stay in my own family’s house.

Every morning, around seven am, I see his cruiser drive by the main road out front of the ski resort. I don’t always have to be in town to do my day job so I’ve been working remote. There’s a big meeting room on the second floor of the ski resort. A couple days ago, I had set up cameras outside of the ski lodge to record the cops. I don’t care if the police know or not.

They’ll all be six feet under soon as I get Valerie away from them.

I finish sending an email to one of my assistants and my public relations coordinator. Bored, I check my watch seeing it’s about almost nine am. He should have driven by already. I look over my desk and then glance out the window hearing the gravel of the drive rumble as someone comes up the road.

I scoot back in my computer chair and leave the meeting room. When I get to the double doors, I push them open to find the supremacist himself step out of his police car. He’s parked right next to the old neon Slate Mountain sign.

My chest tightens in panic seeing the amount of black magic hugging his body like a second skin. His dark red aura is almost completely black radiating with a hyperactive pulse. I remember seeing it radiate like that before. There’s only one reason his aura would be resonating with such life. I had thought he took an illegal magic booster then, but now I now for a fact he’s drinking Valerie’s blood.

I forget since he’s come out about his intentions that he’s dropped his concealment. It’s disgusting seeing how tainted he is from the satanic craft he’s been using. His blood runs as black as his heart and I look at the bones tempted to break them all one by one. By the time he makes it up to the ski lodge, he’s conjured his human appearance probably thinking me unable to handle the true sight of him.

Silvet adjusts his tie looking down his nose at me through his black tinted sunglasses.

He tosses me a yellow envelope with my “assignments” in it. Then Nicholas gets back in his car. I glance down at the big envelope and start to open it up while watching him pull back out onto the road.

Colin

This house is huge. I’m so happy savior is sharing it with me and the other newly turned. Some of his closest officers get to live here too. Most of us are bunked in together. I share my room with a hybrid, Yansmen. He’s already asleep on his small twin sized bed. I lucked out and got a hammock right beneath the window.

It is fun to swing back and forth in, but sometimes I wake up with a stiff neck. Like now, of all times, in the middle of the freaking night.

“Turn the light off!” my roomie barks.

“I’m hungry. Think savior will let me have a taste of goddess? Oh...I can smell her now.”

“Pfft.”

“Okay, maybe not.”

Yansmen grumbles. “Only Heinrich has tasted her you insane inbred! I do not think either of us will be granted the privilege. Heinrich is like his brother. We will never be trusted on such a level.”

“Why?”

“Go to sleep.”

Not long later, I hear him snoring again after I turn out the light. Still feeling wide awake I sit up with a sigh.

I know some of the fellas are always up at this hour anyway. I get out of my hammock and itch the beard starting to grow on my jawline. When I make it to the downstairs, I pass a couple officers smoking in the game room. Some of the younger looking ones closer to my age are vaping. They’re circled around the pool table throwing down bets.

I’m surprised savior is up now. He’s watching the game and participating in the bets too. Our father sits on the black leather couch on the other side of the pool table across from them. No one else is really paying attention to him sitting there.

Savior must have summoned him so he could check up on us while things are going good. He’s standing beside Heinrich watching the fellas go at pool.

I shuffle by the pool room going unnoticed by everyone, but father.

Take what’s yours, he whispers in my mind.

Guess our ruler knows it wasn’t just my stiff neck that woke me up. I knock on my savior’s bedroom door smelling goddesss asleep inside. I clutch my stomach hearing it growl.

“It’s me, Colin.” I say loudly.

“Colin?”

The door opens and I smile seeing her hug me. She shouldn’t have done it though. My hunger flares and I bite into her shoulder. She lets out a weak whimper and I kick the door shut behind me muffling her cries as my desire to have a nice meal speaks over all other reason. She’s my goddess, so she will lend me her body. She’s the vessel of our newborns. She’ll understand this is her duty to protect and nurture all of us.

I don’t know why she’s acting so weak though. It’s almost as though she was already fed on heavily by someone today.

Since we’re both pretty much the same height it’s not too difficult for me to keep feeding when she goes limp in my arms. I know she’s crying and begging me to stop, but she’s being selfish keeping my nourishment from me.

“Colin, p-please stop.” she pleads in a weak voice.

I can feel her heart racing against me and her body feels kind of nice against mine. When I pick her up and shuffle us toward the bed she starts raising her voice and trying lamely to get away. Someone should have told her though that it’s her job to let us feed from her.

I pet her hair and smile when she quits fighting. I set her down on the bed and bite down harder into her shoulder not really having a good bite.

She sobs, but knows better than to move because it will be painful since we aren’t conjoined and can’t make a nest. After I have my fill, she slumps backward on her back and I lick my lips taking in goddess’s beautiful form.

She looks up at me and I know I shouldn’t leave without giving her any thank you. I pull her upright and think about what savior would do.

She leaps up and I stare dumbfounded as she clutches savior’s side shivering like a leaf. I hadn’t heard him come in. Well, I don’t mind sharing.

“Go to bed.” Noctus tells goddess gently.

I frown knowing I won’t be spared the soft tone he only saves for her.

Reluctantly, she pulls away from his bicep and slinks back to the bed, her worried stare not leaving me. Bless my goddess’s soul for still caring about me even after I drank more than I should. My neck is grabbed roughly and I wheeze against my captor’s hold.

“Know your place newborn.” my maker growls in my ear.

“Du wirst leiden,” Noctus begins to tell me. Then he barks at my maker, “Heinrich, hol ihn aus meinen blicken!”

The thing is I’m always hungry. Some moments are just easier to hold off on eating than others. I suppose it’s a newborn thing.

“Didn’t you see him? He was here. He told me to go to her.” I defend.

Noctus tenses up, but does not address me. Instead, he turns his back and goes into his bedroom while I’m dragged away for simply doing what my father wanted.
