Warlords MC: Book 6 – Traven : Chapter 13
Winter looked over at her brother and really wasn’t surprised that he seemed upset as they did just lose their home today. “What’s up, little brother?”
“I hate being here,” was all he said.
“What’s going on out there?”
“You don’t want to know.” He growled.
Winter put her knife down and walked over to where he was sitting. She knelt down to be on his level and gazed at him. “What’s got your panties in a bunch?”
“They laughed at you this morning after you tossed the knife at that jackass. He told them he kissed you and they laughed at you.” Will growled.
Winter froze for a moment then shook her head. Her heart was stung but she would survive, she had survived worse than that but she thought Traven was a different kind of man. Apparently, she was wrong about him. “What else?”
Will looked up at her. “They said we can’t go home again. That you’ll never be able to go back to Red’s again. I told them they were wrong.”
Winter shook her head. “We probably won’t be able to go back there again. Matty and Brady saw to that when they blew up the house this morning.”
“The hell they did.” Will growled.
Winter cupped both sides of his face and looked at him sternly. “That doesn’t mean we can’t go somewhere else and start over. We can and will do that, but first we gotta help them take down the camp.”
Will looked at her and whispered, “But I found three more camps just like this one. This organization is bigger than just one camp.”
Winter’s lips tightened. “I never thought it would be just one camp and I don’t think you really did either. Why do you think Dad tried so hard to find them and get them out of there? He knew it too.”
“I heard you this morning, telling Traven about how mom died.” Tears welled in his eyes. “Why would they do something like that? To her, of all people?”
Winter took a deep breath and said, “I think they got hooked on the drugs they’d been selling. They were high that morning, high or crashing hard and they needed more. Mom told them no and they didn’t like that. They knew they needed more and she wasn’t going to give it to them. They just snapped.” She shook her head. “Once the deed was done, they knew they couldn’t come back, not after what they’d done. There’s no coming back after that.”
Will growled, “Don’t you stick up for those two bastards,” he snapped.
“I’m not sticking up for them. I’m just stating facts. They walked away. I hope they both face the consequences of their actions and I hope they realize what they did before they go to hell.” Shaking her head, she stood and looked down at Will. “I just don’t want them to take you or me with them.”
“I also told them Traven should be happy the knife hit the door instead of him this morning,” Will admitted.
Winter chuckled out loud. “Yeah, he probably is.” Though, she knew she didn’t want to actually hurt the man. It was just that there was so much tension between them and had been from moment one. And that fucking kiss! Wow…. She shook her head and went back to her chopping.
Will felt a little better after their talk, so he wheeled closer and picked up another knife. He helped her chop the vegetables to finish off their supper.
When everything was finally ready, she grabbed a stack of plates and took them out to the main room. When the guys saw her, they moved to the kitchen to help her bring everything out.
Winter and Will made up their plates then found small table to sit at. They began eating while everyone else filled their plates.
Traven and Venom sat down with them. Ace and his brother Deuce came over and sat too.
For a while, no one said anything, as they were all too busy eating.
Finally, Traven sat back. His plate was clean and he was full. “Wow, that was very good. Thank you.”
Venom sat back and belched softly. “Sorry, but that was the best meal I’ve had in a very long time.” He grinned. “You can take over KP anytime you like.”
Winter didn’t say anything but instead, looked over at Traven and asked, “So what are your plans for Shadow Camp?”
“Well, that depends on what you can tell us about the camp itself,” Traven told her.
Winter shrugged. “They’ve probably moved camp by now.”
“Just suppose they didn’t.” Venom leaned over the table. “Can you give us a layout of what you knew was there?”
She shrugged. “I can try but I didn’t really see that much.”
“Well, you saw more than we did then,” Pepper called out.
Traven slowly turned his head and glared at the other man. Then he ignored him and turned back to Winter. “What all did you see? What kind of weapons did they have there?”
Winter shivered. “They were storing guns. In one of the outer buildings, they had a shitload of weapons and ammo. They would get a shipment in about every four days. Could be just a few or could be a whole truckload.”
“What else?” Venom asked.
“It wasn’t just guns you know. They had knives, swords and bows too. They had arrows and shovels. It was odd really the assortment now that I think about it. Just all kinds of shit. They are gearing up for something and I have a feeling its coming soon.”
“Well, that doesn’t sound good.” Ace growled.
“You said something about an MC coming and going from the camp,” Traven stated.
“The Minions of Hell.” Winter nodded.
“How often do they come around?” Ace asked.
“The first few weeks they came around maybe once a week,” Winter told them, “But the last two weeks, they’ve been coming around every couple of days.”
“Have you seen what they’ve been bringing in?” Traven wanted to know.
“I think they are moving drugs through the camp.” Winter tucked a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. “I can’t be sure of that though. Whatever they’re bringing in is always in a small pouch. They carry them in their saddle bags.”
“How many men are in the camp full time?” Ace asked.
“Maybe two dozen?” She shrugged.
“How often is that fuckin traitor, Chewy in camp?” Pepper snarled.
Winter refused to look at him but she did answer his question, “He’s there more and more these days.” She glanced up at Traven and looked worried. “There’s reason I said there was something coming and soon.”
“What is that?” Traven asked.
“Last week and again earlier this week, there has been a big delivery. Two semi trucks rolled into camp and the men unloaded a huge order of some kind. I was too far away to see what it was but I know where they stored everything.”
“Where would that be?” Pepper wanted to know.
“They backed up the trailers to one of the warehouses and put everything underground.” She looked at Traven when she answered.
“Can you draw us a map of the camp?” Traven asked.
“I can try.” Winter nodded. “But I’ve only seen the camp at night, so a map might not be much good during the day.”
Pepper snorted but Dax kicked him under the table and glared at him. Pepper shut up but glared right back at the other man.
Venom brought some paper over to the table and handed her a pen, Winter began to draw the camp as she remembered it. As she drew the map, she explained what she’d seen over the weeks she’d been watching the camp.
The men began gathering around her and they watched as she laid out the camp for them. They were amazed at what she knew and what she could show them.
The one that looked at hardest at what she was doing was Pepper. He studied the camp and tried to memorize it. He looked over at his men Jackman and Bumper.
They read the message he wouldn’t say out loud. Each of them slightly nodded.
Dax was watching and he just shook his head. He knew what they were going to do and it didn’t sit well with him. Pepper was a stubborn son of a bitch and he would get them kicked out of this allegiance if he didn’t behave. As much as he wanted to get his hands on Chewy, he knew better than to go after him right now.
This plan was bigger than just one man. But he would wait and see how it all played out.
After everyone had had a chance to view the map and discuss a plan, they all separated for the night. They were going to go the camp tomorrow night.
