Unwanted

Chapter 24 - Martina

Columbia, Missouri

Teegan’s P.O.V.

Joel and I go into our room, and I can’t help smiling. Kiana and I decided to give Anton a little push. We could tell when Petra told Lindsey she would be luna she was ready for more, but he was still nervous. I wonder what kind of magic Petra has and if it will get stronger after she and Anton mark each other.

“What are you thinking about?” Joel asks, setting our things down and pulling me into his arms.

“Petra and Anton,” I answer. He narrows his eyes.

“You’re thinking about your brother and his mate?” I chuckle at his expression.

“Yeah. I wonder what else Petra will show us once they’re fully mated.” I reply. Joel slides his hands over my bottom, pulling my attention back to him.

“The last thing I want to think about right now is Anton and Petra. We don’t have a lot of alone time, so I want to take advantage of every second we get.” Joel brings his mouth to mine, and all thoughts of my brother and his mate are gone. All I can focus on is him. He’s right; we can talk about them later.

The following morning, after eating breakfast, we head to another pack that Jelena and Grant gave us. They sent a pup to this pack several years ago when she was found as a teenager, and they hoped that she was still there. When we pull up, I see wolves following us, but they don’t approach. Several people are standing outside looking at our vehicle wearily. The others decide to wait in the car this time.

“Hello, your Highnesses. Can we help you?” a tall older man asks as we exit. I assume he’s the alpha, and the woman holding his hand is the luna.

“Hi, I’m Prince Joel, and this is my mate, Princess Teegan. We’re going around to different packs looking for pups taken from the Silver Moon pack in Michigan over the past twenty-five years. Jelena and Garrett sent us here. They said you might have someone from that pack who they sent to you several years ago. We know she’s an adult now, but we still wanted to see if she’s here.” Joel explains. I see everyone relax when they realize why we’re here.

“Thank goodness. Yes, Martina is still here. She’s twenty-three now and will be happy to know where she came from. I’m Luna Nadia, and my mate is Alpha Peter. Please come with us.” I like them both immediately. I can already tell they have good hearts. They lead us into the packhouse that looks like a beautiful, enormous log cabin. We follow them down the hall to what looks like a library. There’s a pretty woman with short, very curly brown hair sitting with several pups reading a story. She looks up and smiles when we walk in.

“Okay, that’s all for today. Why don’t you see if the cook has a snack for you.” The little pups run out of the room, not paying us any attention as the woman stands up. Nadia walks over and puts her arm around her shoulders.

“Martina, this is Prince Joel and Princess Teegan. They believe they have information about what pack you came from.” She explains. Martina smiles brightly at us.

“Really? You know where I came from? Oh, I’m sorry, where are my manners? It’s nice to meet you, Prince Joel and Princess Teegan.” She holds out her hand, and we both shake it.

“Please, we don’t need you to use titles. My dad is the alpha of the Silver Moon pack in Michigan. His beta has been taking pups from the pack for over twenty-five years, and we believe you’re one of them,” I tell her, stepping forward. She stares at me in shock.

“Seriously? Are my parents still there?” She asks as her eyes fill with tears.

“If your parents are who we think they are, I’m sorry, but they’re gone. They were killed by a group of rogues while searching for you after you were taken.” Martina begins to cry, and I wrap my arms around her, letting her cry on my shoulder. I’m not sure if we’re helping or hurting her. She was happy and adjusted here, and now we come in and tell her we know where she’s from and her parents are dead.

“Thank you for coming. Just knowing that I wasn’t unwanted makes me feel better. Do you have a picture of them?” She asks, pulling back. I pull out my phone and pull up the picture my dad sent of her parents holding her when she was a newborn. Looking at it now, there’s no denying she’s their daughter. Her mother has the same curly hair, and her dad has the same pale blue eyes.

“Do you want me to send this picture to your phone?” I ask her as she stares at her parents with tears running down her cheeks.

“Yes, please. I have another favor to ask. Can I go with you? I don’t want to go to Silver Moon right now, but I would like to help you find more of the missing pups.” Martina looks at me and Joel, hopefully. How can we deny her? Not that I would want to.

“Of course you can. My two brothers, Anton and Damon, are also with us. Joel’s sister, Kiana, is Damon’s mate. Anton’s mate Petra just joined us yesterday.” I look at Joel, and he nods in agreement. We may eventually have to rent a bus, but it will be worth it to help everyone find their place in this world. Martina hugs me excitedly.

“Thank you. I’ll go pack my things. I’m sorry, Nadia and Peter, but this is something I need to do.” She kisses the alpha and luna on their cheeks, and they smile at her.

“Don’t apologize; we knew you would one day leave us. Your desire for adventure has been trying to break free for a long time. Come on, I’ll help you pack.” Nadia puts her arm around Martina as they head upstairs. I turn to Peter; I want to see what kind of shape Martina was in when she moved in with them.

“Can you tell me where she was before Jelena and Garrett found her? I just want to know if there are any triggers or anything that we need to look out for.” I ask him softly. Peter nods and has us follow him to another room.

“When Jelena and Garrett rescued her, she was being raised to be a breeder. Luckily, they got her out of that pack when she was sixteen, so no one had touched her yet. Martina’s actually coped quite well. Even though the pack was raising her and others to be breeders, they didn’t abuse her. I know that sounds ridiculous when they were buying pups that had been stolen, but from what she said, they treated her well. That pack was broken up, and those responsible for taking the stolen pups were punished. I believe going with you will be good for her.” He says. I’m relieved that both the pack were punished and that she wasn’t abused. Being ripped from her family and raised to be a breeder is horrible enough. A few minutes later, Martina comes down with Nadia, carrying several bags.

“Are you sure this is okay?” Martina asks. I nod as Joel and I help her with her things.

“Yes. We’re happy you’re joining us. Are you ready?” I ask, and Martina nods. She hugs and kisses the alpha and luna before we go to the SUV. The others are standing outside when we get there.

“Everyone, this is Martina. She’s going to go with us. Martina, this is Damon, Kiana, Anton, and Petra.” I say. After loading her bags, she gets into the back with Kiana and Damon. The next stop isn’t one we expect to be good. It’s close by and one from the list we got from Brock’s safe. According to the records, they’d bought pups from Silver Moon for years for unknown purposes.

Alecto’s P.O.V.

I leave Kimberly in her cell and go back to my realm. I can’t believe Teegan is back and mated to the prince. I’ll have everything I need with her and the wolf from the Mystic Moonlighters together. I wonder if Teegan is even aware of what she is. Her parents gave her away as a pup, so they probably don’t even realize it. I’ll just wait and watch until they return to Silver Moon. When they do, they will both be mine, and I’ll be unstoppable.
