Until I Met You

Chapter Text mess up (39)

Text mess up (39) Grace

Today was Grace's birthday. I had started preparing for her birthday right after she told me that it was next week. I booked two Hawaii tickets for us, as a holiday. I had also decided that I would throw a birthday party at where my band throws its music concerts the next day. I knew she liked my singing. And it would be a perfect way to celebrate her birthday.

It was seven am, and I was standing on her house's doorsteps. I inserted the key and opened her door and walked in. I was being quiet on purpose. I didn't want her to be awakened by any sort of voice. I walked inside her bedroom and saw her sleeping there. My first thought seeing her lying in the sheets was that she looked beautiful.

Her hairs were scattered everywhere and her breathing was even. It looked like she was in deep sleep. I couldn't believe that she was my girlfriend.

I walked to her side and sat down beside her on the bed. I raised my hand and pushed back a strand of hair that was falling on her cheek. I leaned down and placed a kiss on her cheek. A wet one.

She stirred and made a voice.

"Umm, Jake." She said and a feeling of pride erupted in my heart that went straight to veins. She knew it was me by just my touch. Her hand reached out and grabbed mine, and she took it to her side of the face and put it down her cheek and laid back again. She looked so innocent that it tore me to the core of my heart. Without pulling my hand away from her, I laid behind her and gathered her in my embrace. She left out a soft sigh. "Happy birthday." I whispered slowly into her ear. She turned around and snuggled in my chest.

And oh my god!

That feeling made me feel like a real man.

She looked so vulnerable that it made me want to protect her. I hugged her and held her in my embrace. I closed my eyes as I buried my face in her hair. Her hairs smelled of some flowered shampoo. After staying like that for a half an hour, I pulled back. She grabbed on to my shirt, her eyes still closed, and let out a dissatisfied moan.

"Don't leave." She whispered. I took her hand that was holding my collar in my hand and kissed it.

"I'm going to prepare breakfast for us. I'll be right back." I told her. This time she let me go. I stood up and walked downstairs. I made pancakes for breakfast and coffee for both of us and took it to her bed. To my surprise, she was already awake and was sitting there, smiling.

"Breakfast's ready." I said, smiling back at her, putting the tray on her lap. She picked the knife and fork.

"It looks delicious. Wow." She cut out a piece and stuffed it in her mouth.

"You know, for a rich guy you're really talented in cooking." She said. I didn't say anything just stared at her. She picked up another two spoonfuls and chewed with her mouth closed and full. Looking like a little kitten. Continuing eating, she looked at me.

"Why aren't you eating?" She asked. She cut out another piece of pancake and raised it to my mouth. I ate it, right from the spoon. She continued to feed me like it was the most natural thing to do. Finally, we both finished eating. "Get dressed up. We're going for a date." I told her. I stood up, taking the tray from her. She looked at me without blinking.

"Hurry up." I said and left to clean the dishes. After I've done it, I heard a clicking sound of heels coming towards me. I spun around and looked at her.

She was wearing a black one-piece

black floral peasant sleeve belted mini dress. And it was obvious that she looked beautiful.

"You're looking beautiful." I told her. She blushed at my words. Damn, she was so expressive that I wanted her to tease more, so that I can see her blushing more furiously.

"Let's go." I said. We walked out of her house and I drove her to the most famous restaurant of the city. I parked my car and walked around to open her side of the door. She climbed out and we walked inside the restaurant. I already reserved a place for us, so finding a seat wasn't an issue. We sat down at our table.

"What do you want to eat? Choose anything. This is my treat so I would pay. Don't hesitate." I told her. Her look told me that she wanted to murder me. Metaphorically.

"I can pay my own bills." She said.

"Not when it's your birthday." I retorted back. She huffed out the air but didn't make a fuss about it anymore.

"I'm going to the washroom. I'll be right back." I told her and walked into the washroom. I finished my business, cleaned my hands and got back to my seat. Grace's head was bowed over something and I realized that my phone wasn't with me. "Grace?" I whispered. She looked up at me and I drew back. Her eyes were tear-stricken face, and she had anger in her eyes.

"What happened?" I asked her. Without saying anything, she handed me my phone over. My phone's screen was lit up by a message.

"See you tonight, darling. Don't tell your side chick. :)"

The message read. My eyes couldn't believe what I was reading. The name it came from was written "Hot one." I began to panic and at the same time, I tried to think when did I ever do that? I never wrote about any girl like this. Then where the hell did it come from? Who put this in my phone?

Grace stood up and without saying anything, she took out a bill of thousand dollars and put it in the tray. She stood up and walked from my side to leave but I stopped her from holding her hand.

"Do you seriously believe I can do this?" I asked her. Hoping with my heart that she will answer what I wanted her to say.

Instead, she just stared at my face for a second then removed her hand from my grip and left.

I didn't chase after her. I didn't call her back. For once, just for once, I wanted her to trust me. Trust me for me. And just for once, I wanted her to look back at me. She did not.
