Unknown Magic (3)

Chapter 23.1

We returned home, dazed by what we just witnessed. These bodies were sending messages that we could not understand but today was a clear message that there was more behind these bodies then we want there to be.

We started looking at missed messages that were left behind since we been and nothing was to important, Just confirmation on waters sport tournament to celebration of the blue moon and confirmation on the usual Sunday feast. Nothing was out of the ordinary but something was bothering me.

I know we did not have time to figure out the murders but something was telling me that we needed to figure them out now or it would be too late, and since Thuse would not be much help, I only had Wolf.

I wanted too figure out this stuff out now rather than later. It just seemed appropriate to do no then months later.

“Wolf”

He slight raised his head from the note he just received and place it down and looked at me.

“Yeah what’s wrong?”

I scrunched my eyebrows together, “something doesn’t make sense…we said earth murder and our world murders are linked but how?” I questioned.

Wolf cocked his head at me and leaned on the window seal crossing his arm over his chest, then looked down at the floor. “I have no idea.” He reached eyes up to mine, “but they have same signature and match everything we are looking into towards the killer.”

“But what makes them similar, yet they are different, “I started to pace. “I mean we didn’t start figuring out that they were giving message or displaying messages. See the messages is the earth murders?” I questioned.

Wolf even though it was in the air question. He scrunched his face, “what if they did have messages but we really didn’t question them till now. I mean lets think” he spoke.

I could see the wheels turning in his head. “First there was the man that was hung by the ankle in the Florence church.”

I think I may know where he is going with this.

“The other was bound by her wrists in the water and last earth body was hung in the school.”

Wolf jumped as if he finally pieced it together, “They did have a message! And are related to the murders.” And just like that the words flowed out my mouth.

“Florence church, it religion and the man was hung in the air, but it was the setting.. ’you will worship me,” I breathed as a cold sense was starting to shift in me.

Wolfs lips parted as he could feel it too, “water is strong and she was bound by wrists, ’you are bound by power.”

“I am not liking where this is going” I confessed, Wolf nodded in agreement.

“Remember the strings?” I asked him, he slowly nodded not wanting the answer, “It was a puppet on for show, meaning, ’you are my puppet.”

Coloured trained from my face.

“Earlier you said, ‘I am King’ at the Aer Kingdom and the killer displayed a body at the Terra Kingdom, meaning this is the same killer” Wolf spoke and glided towards the center of the room.

We were both still unsure how we were able to manage to figure all that out.

“I guess they do have a connection, they are saying messages though, but I still don’t see how they relate to this world unbalance,” Wolf spoke.

I guess he had a point, though there was feeling I couldn’t shake something in the formula didn’t add up or haven’t been added yet.

I followed Wolf to the center and sat across from him trying in some way to figure out where the missing link was.

Oddly enough masking came to my mind.

“Wolf what if the last two bodies were purposely not masked meaning they wanted us to see the true identities of the bodies...”

Wolf slowly raised his eyes to me, giving me a very questionable look.

“You are saying that the other bodies have been masked?”

Of course, there was doubt in his voice.

I wanted to snort at him. “I mean what if the bodies we found before were masked and not showing their true identities while our world they were purposely wanted to show the identities,” I explained hoping he would take my suggestion.

He gritted his teeth, “That would mean…that more of siblings have died.”

I slowly got up, “we need to check our morgue,”

Wolf nodded, “get the portal to Pacific Rim, I will drop the kids as at my parents.”

I nodded in reply and we both dashed out of the building.

Silence was in the room as we looked at all five dead bodies, with a difficult spell I was able to break the masking spell that was hiding the invisible identities. If my fears came true, Wolf and I were staying at two unmasked bodies and three bodies that surrounded us that I recently unmasked.

They were all Equitem Draco children, their well sculpted faces and either dirty blonde or brunette. They were the dragon rider family. Never in my life have I ever felt sick or chilled.

I was at a point that I couldn’t even tell if this was reality or not. Though it was awhile till someone spoke with a soft voice as frozen flesh started to creep up my nose.

“Guess you were right, the bodies were masked and hidden but why?” Wolf simply asked.

“Because” I took a foul breath, “they didn’t want to be suspected till now, it like a game.”

I turned away from a body trying to erase it all my memory.

“Asema” Wolf voice sounded and he placed a soft on my should, simply to try and calm me. “How did you think of masking?”

I brought my gaze up to his, “because I remember we spoke about masking in Sky High, I always had it in the back of my mind for some reason till now.” I dropped my head in my hands.

“Wolf too me into his arms and slowly soothed my back doing his best to calm me.

Though another unsettling feeling came over me.

I started muffling in Wolfs chest, “It makes me very curious why I had flashback to Kieran” I raised my head to see Wolf, but we was still staring straight out.

“Wolf what if like the vision I have that warn about the upcoming futures, now I understand why the voice said the forty-two will be mine… that is how many siblings Emily had” Wolf brought his gaze to mine though his face unreadable, “what if the flashback are to remind me and warn me of something I missed?”

“What are you getting at?” It was hesitant but I could feel Wolfs body tensing up, as if he didn’t want the reality to be true.

“Wolf… what if Kieran is alive?”

“How?”

“What if I fully did not kill him?”

Silence from Wolf.

“What is I only killed his presence of flesh?” Wolf, he seemed or wanted to seem confused by what I was saying.

“Killing only flesh? But he apart into dust, how was he be here? How would that even be possible?”

Doubt but fear lingered through those words. His statements of questions were true and I was probably losing my mind. I shut my eyes for a moment. But they snapped right back open. I jumped away from Wolf who was alarmed by me but let me have space.

“Light cannot fully destroy darkness, “ I shrieked.

This time Wolf was till and didn’t know how to react.

“Excuse me?”

I put both hands in the air towards Wolf, “Center of elements, this light source appeared, telling me that statement, I wasn’t aware of it at first but the pieces are coming together.”

Wolf grabbed my hands and dragged me out of the room with dead bodies and out towards a balcony that overlooked the south harbour. Grabbed me by the shoulders and studied me in the eyes.

“Asema you need to be absolutely sure about this.” He pleaded.

I didn’t realized I was already holding on for dear lie onto his wrist. I held on tighter.

“I believe he is not dead, but I am also doubting.” I spoke and like foulness of air came out my mouth. Pain shot through me, arching my back grinding my teeth and jerked my body forward I felt collapsed, though luckily when Wolfs arms were around me holding me and breaking my fall to the ground. Multiple mages were flushing before eyes and I couldn’t keep up, they were memories or far off images I couldn’t identity. But too soon I thrusted back and in Wolfs arms gasping for air.

“He may or may not be alive, and could right under our noses” I whispered and collapsed again into nothingness.
