Chapter 45 The School Hunk Goes to Kara
Kara was fixed to the spot with nervousness, her eyes darting.
Pretending to be calm, she pointed at a question randomly, "Uncle James, I don't know how to work out the answer of this question."
"Let me have a look."
James wore an indifferent look, took the pen from her hand and wrote a formula on the paper.
Seeing the writing on the plain paper, Kara was dazzled. As soon as James worked out the question, she came to search the answer online. "Wow, Uncle James, you're amazing."
His answer was correct.
James glanced at the answer online. Obviously, his solution was easier to understand.
"Did you understand how I worked the problem out just now?"
Kara shook her head, staring at him with big amber eyes, like a kitty that had made a mistake and tried to bury herself.
Being stared by her like this, James reached out and rubbed her little head involuntarily. When he realized what he was doing, his arms froze. With deep eyes, he pursed his thin lips as if he was angry with himself.
"I'll show you one more time. Listen carefully!"
"Got it."
His deep voice was charming and mellow. When it entered her ears, Kara's ears rumbled and her mind went blank.
Kara told herself that Uncle James was like a father to her and there was no need to be nervous.
However, her brain was in buzz uncontrollably, and she was unable to calm herself down and listen to him.
She blushed, her heart racing.
"Do I make myself clear?" James asked coldly.
Kara was too nervous to hear him. How could she possibly understand how the problem was solved?
His voice sounded on her eardrums, making her dizzy and her gaze wander.
His breath entered her cochlea, and reddened her ears. She was not quite herself.
"Uncle James, I don't feel well. I want to go back to have a rest."
She was tongue-tied, failing to pronounce clearly when she spoke.
Looking at her blushing cheeks, James touched her forehead with the back of her hand in concern. Her forehead felt extremely burning.
He narrowed his eyes, worrying that she might be sick after leaving hospital.
"Are you running a fever? Let's go to the hospital."
He remembered Will said that Kara could not stand a fever; otherwise, her brain might get damaged.
"Thank you. But I think I just need to go back to have a sleep."
Kara pushed his arm away and ran out of the study in panic.
James followed her out with concern.
Outside her bedroom, he knocked on the door.
"Kara, let's go to hospital if you don't feel well!"
There was a trace of gentleness in his voice, which was devoid of any coldness it carried when they were in the study. "Uncle James, I need to take a rest."
Kara went to the bathroom to wash her face with cold water. She took a deep breath when her face regained calmness. Hearing Uncle James words, which was full of concern, she felt guilty and opened the door.
"Uncle James, I am not having a fever. Maybe it is because the temperature in the study room is high."
In order to prove that she was fine, she beamed a smile at him and placed her big hand on her tender forehead.
James frowned. The temperature in the study was not high at all!
With the back of his hand touching her forehead, he was relieved after making sure that she was fine. But he found his hand reluctant to move away from her face. He rubbed her doll-like Barbie cheeks, and found it even harder to move his hand away.
The man's palm was wide and his fingers were slightly hot, but there was a chill in his hand. His giant hand could block her view.
She smiled and her amber eyes were as bright as stars. "Uncle James, I'm really fine. Do I have your trust now?" she asked.
With a faint smile, James held her face and gently squeezed it, making her delicate facial features shrink. Feeling that he was not as chilly as before and there was no coldness in his eyes, Kara felt a little relieved. Being rubbed by him, her little face was a little distorted. She puffed her cheeks, glaring at him angrily.
The next second, he put his hand over her eyes and lowered his head to kiss her forehead.
Her eyes were too pure and clean. He couldn't stopped himself from approaching her, feeling that he was committing a crime.
"Kara, good night."
"..." He gave her a good night kiss.
Staring at the man's back, Kara suddenly turned around and closed the door.
With her back leaning against the wall, she touched the forehead kissed by James. She found she was okay with the physical contact with Uncle James.
Uncle James suddenly got close to her. Did that mean he didn't dislike her anymore?
Kara was already accustomed to taking sick leave. Not only herself, but her classmates.
Therefore, when Kara went to class, no one would pay attention to her.
Kara bent over the desk, and didn't dare to flip through them at the thought of the test papers on the desk.
It was terrifying!
"Kara, our school hunk is looking for you!"
Someone heckled, and everyone's gaze fell on Kara, with envy and jealousy.
Being stared by them, Kara was confused. She looked up and saw a boy standing at the door of the classroom.
In the school corridor, Kara looked at Eli, her face puzzled.
Last time, he kindly helped her up when she accidentally bumped into him. Was he going to looking for trouble with her now?
Kara's mind was crammed with all kinds of possibilities, and she looked at him vigilantly.
"What are you looking for me for?"
"I heard that you were sick. It's been a long time since you came to school," Eli said casually, trying his best to keep his tone calm and conceal his worries about her. "Are you having a hard time with the exam now?"
"Yes!"
Kara was very grateful, and she let her guard down.
Nevertheless, she still kept a meter away from him as she didn't know him very well.
His question reminded her of those test papers, and she knitted her brows, frowning.
Perhaps, just as Sophia had said, she was no material for study. For her, what mattered the most was to stay healthy.
However, she didn't want to admit failure!
"These are my notes. They might be helpful to you."
As a teenager, Eli was not good at hiding his emotions.
When he took out his notebook, his ears were red and his gaze darted, although he tried her best to conceal his nervousness.
Puzzled, Kara didn't dare to accept it. "If I take your notebook, what are you going to do with the exam?" she asked.
"..."
Eli paused. He didn't want to admit that this notebook was specially prepared for her. He pointed at his forehead and said, "I don't need notes. I use my brain."
Kara blinked. Perhaps this was the difference between a straight A student and an underachiever.
It was just humiliating!
"Eli, I can't take your notebook."
"Why?" Eli was puzzled and proposed in an anxious tone, "Let's make friends. Since we are friends, it's OK that you accept my notebook. It is not something valuable. I will throw it away if you don't want it." Seeing that he was going to throw the notebook into the trash can, Kara hurried to stop him and took the notebook away.
"Stop. I'll take it."
Now Eli was happy. "Read through the notes. Ask me if there's anything you don't understand. I will friend you on WeChat."
