Chapter 37 Admire Uncle James
In the office, the teacher was giving Kara and Arya a good scolding.
The college entrance exam was around the corner, and every student was busy with study except the two of them. Not only that, they even went in for bullying.
"Call your parents over or just drop out!" The teacher, Owen Berry, spat.
Arya was a veteran troublemaker, and she would never call her parents every time she was asked to. Even if she did, neither of her parents would come. She was already thick-skinned. Scratching her head, she didn't seem to care at all.
But it was the first time for Kara to get such a scolding from a teacher. Blushing with embarrassment, she lowered her head, not daring to meet others' gaze.
"Arya, you are going to study abroad, right? Now, you just get the time to stay at home and prepare for it!"
Seeing that Arya was indifferent, Owen was enraged with his neck bulged. He then turned his attention to Kara. Only then did he feel satisfied since Kara was trembling with fear.
To show his authority, he raised his voice more.
"Kara, with you grade, you will probably fail to enter a college. Call your parents now if you want to continue your study and then write a self-criticism. Otherwise, you don't need to come to school anymore." Kara's head was even lower, her jaw pressing on her chest.
"Mr. Owen, it's one-sided! You drew a conclusion without investment." Arya was not convinced.
"Aryan, you are one to talk! Kara used to be a good girl and it was you who misled her."
Owen's face darkened. If it weren't for the fear of the Barks, he would have kicked her out of the class.
"No, Mr. Owen. I just want to talk to Rose. I didn't do anything to her."
Hearing Arya was going to blame everything on herself, Kara immediately stepped forward and stood in front of Arya like a heroic warrior, her face bulging
Arya frowned. Kara was always the first one to argue in favor of her no matter whom she had a conflict with. Whether or not she was in the right, Kara would trust her and defend her.
Right now, it was clear that Owen wanted to vent his anger, but the silly girl still dared to step forward, which made Arya touched.
"Who gave you the guts? You are endangering yourself to protect Arya. Why don't you just mind your own business?" Owen gave her a sullen glare.
Kara was so frightened that she took two steps back, but she wouldn't allow him to aim at Arya.
Arya was helping her. She definitely couldn't let her suffer any grievances!
"I did. Mr. Owen, come at me if you have something to say!"
Just as Kara hesitated about what to say, a familiar voice came. She widened her eyes in surprise and turned around. Her eyes immediately lit up as she saw the tall man standing at the door of the office. "Uncle James, didn't you.... Didn't you say that you wouldn't come?"
James met her gaze and knew what she wanted to say. He walked towards her and sized her up to check if she was injured. Then, he reached out to stroke her head. "Mr. Owen, I'm Kara's uncle."
James was taller than Owen, and he always spoke in a dignified and arrogant tone, sending forth a powerful aura.
Owen was obviously intimidated by his strong aura. Lacking in self-confidence, he took several glances on him, feeling him familiar. But he couldn't recall who he was.
"You are Kara's uncle, but your surname is Hemming. And Kara had never mentioned you."
James shot him a glance. He always kept a low profile. It's understandable for him to not know him.
"Mr. Owen, what's this, the Gallup poll?"
Arya couldn't help but chuckle and give her a thumbs-up.
Beyond her expectation, this Mr. James didn't just have a handsome face, but a nice personality.
Just now, when he said "come at me" at the door of the office, he looked so cool, right?
Kara blushed and stared at him with admiration. She quickly calmed down when she fixed her eyes at this a tall and strong man.
Owen was so angry that he couldn't control his expression. A few days ago, Sophia came to him and gave him some money. She asked him to find an excuse to drop Kara out. He was in a dilemma, but Kara happened to make a trouble. Of course, he would seize this opportunity and kick her out of the school.
To his surprise, James appeared. He could find no way to vent his anger and just spat, "Kara should be punished for beating her classmate on campus. She should take a break from school and go home!" He obviously meant to drop her out. Kara pouted.
"Mr. Owen, I will not accept this punishment."
"It's not up to you. You actually get into a fight!" Owen sneered.
"Mr. Owen said that Kara beat someone. Who did she beat? What did she do exactly? And did the other party get injured? Is her withdrawal from school in accordance with your school's rules and regulations?' Kara still wanted to say something but was stopped by James. Kara tightened her clench, her nails pricking her palm. James frowned and wrapped her fists.
Owen did not expect that he would actually mention the rules of the school. He stared at James with contempt and raised his chin. "Yes, there is a rule against fighting. And students who get into fights should be expelled"
James shot him a faint glance, ignoring him.
"It's more convincing for the headmaster to explain the rules!"
As soon as he spoke, the headmaster, Ross Brown, hurried over. Feeling James angry, he involuntarily swept his cold sweat.
"Mr. Owen, you want to expel a student before you make a full investigation. You are abusing your authority!" Ross scolded.
Then, he quickly changed his expression, stating in a reverent tone, "Mr. James, I will investigate the matter and give you a satisfactory explanation."
Seeing that the headmaster was this flattery to Kara's uncle, Owen's face turned pale. He took a few steps back and knew something was wrong. Although he hadn't figure out who James was, he tried to explain to himself, "Mr. Ross, I saw them fight with my own eyes."
"What you see with your own eyes is not always the truth!"
Ross interrupted him with a bad look. He then asked someone to bring a doctor over, as well as Rose.
It took a while to bring them over. In order to warm up the atmosphere, Ross took the tea set and was going to make tea in person.
"Mr. James, sit down and have some tea. I had someone prepare Biluochun Tea."
"My little girl and her friend had been talking. They must be thirsty."
A faint smile touched James' mouth. He looked handsome and gentle, but everyone could feel his cold aura.
Ross took an awkward glance at Kara. Then, he stuffed the tea box into Owen's hand. "Make some tea!"
Owen was unpleasant to make tea for the two little girls, but he had no choice but to do it since the headmaster had ordered.
After making the tea, he was about to serve it to the headmaster, but the headmaster pointed at Kara instead.
Owen gritted his teeth and endured his anger. He took out two cups and poured tea for the two of them.
Kara took a glance at James. Only after he nodded did she picked up the teacup.
She knew that Uncle James was asking Owen to apologize!
Arya picked up the teacup, took a sip, and complained carelessly. "Mr. Owen, you can't make tea. You are even not as good as my servants!"
Arya, who was drinking, couldn't help but spit the tea out when she heard her words. And she happened to spit at Owen's face!
"I'm sorry, Mr. Owen." Kara hurried to look for a napkin but was stopped by Arya.
"Don't panic. Mr. Owen is old and is not agile. He had seen it and didn't dodge. It is obvious that he doesn't care."
Kara was silenced by her words.
Owen was so mad that he fixed his sullen eyes on Arya while wiping his face.
When they finished the tea, Rose came with a doctor.
