Chapter Passion 68
Chapter 68
Daphne never imagined that after spending four years to become a pop star and another four years to become an A-list actress, a single song would propel her to overnight stardom.
As she looked at the numerous endorsements and invitations from well-known brands that her assistant had delivered to her, she couldn't contain her excitement.
After all, just one of these international brands was an endorsement that other celebrities could spend decades attempting to secure.
But her joy was short-lived. Her assistant rushed in. "Ms. Reyes, we just received a message from Ms. Cameron's company. They claimed that our song is plagiarized and demanded that we take it down immediately, apologize, and compensate them."
Daphne frowned. Obviously, she hadn't expected them to catch on so quickly. Initially, she thought that she could get away with plagiarizing a foreign song.
After all, it was rare for people to sue over copyright infringement, especially when it involved international lawsuits that took a lot of time and effort.
"Plagiarism? Tell them to show us their evidence first."
Daphne scoffed. With her current status and the Lane family's backing, there was no way a small foreign music company would dare to sue her. Even if they did, they wouldn't win.
Yvette knew that Daphne wouldn't admit to plagiarism. The primary reason she had her assistant email Carnival Central Media was so that when they sued Daphne later, the public would be aware that they had warned them when the song was first released.
It was Friday. Yvette first went to work at the headquarters, intending to visit Zachary in the evening and spend the weekend together.
Meanwhile, it was recess time at the kindergarten. Malcolm, the eldest grandson of the Lane family, had been completely subdued by Zachary the last time. Now, no matter what Zachary asked him, he would answer all of his questions honestly and obediently.
"Are you really the heir to the Lane family?" Zachary asked.
While playing with his eraser, Malcolm responded proudly, "Of course! My mom said I'm the eldest grandson of the family, so everything in our family will belong to me in the future."
Zachary wasn't buying it. "But I heard that the current CEO of Lane Group is your uncle."
Malcolm huffed. "My uncle doesn't have a son. My mom said he's sick and can't have children." He then lowered his voice and added, "My mom also said that once my uncle dies, his inheritance will also be mine."
"I see." Zachary wondered what his deadbeat father would think if he heard that.
Malcolm arched his brow. "Zachary, just stick with me, and I promise you'll be living the high life."

Zachary wondered if he had learned that from his mother or television. He pretended to be indifferent and disbelieving.
"Brag all you want, but the Lane family is massive. I don't believe that it'll be entirely yours. Your uncle is still young. He'll definitely have children. I read on the news that he'd getting married to some
actress.
"Once they get married, that actress will give birth to a healthy baby boy. Then, you won't be family's favorite child anymore."

Upon hearing that, Malcolm was enraged. He flung the eraser in his hand at Zachary and yelled, " Nonsense! My mom told me that Uncle Xav was sick. He would never have a child!" Zachary continued to tease him, "What if your mom lied to you?"
Malcolm was at a loss for words. Mulling it over, he lowered his voice to a whisper. "Don't tell anyone else, but Uncle Xav doesn't like that actress at all.
Sensing he was onto something big, Zachary asked earnestly, "Who told you that?"
