Chapter 365
“Don’t always shoulder all the blame, okay? I know you did all those things for me at first. I ain’t blaming you, so why are you
piling so much guilt on yourself?”
Elio hung his head low. “But I’ve messed up so much...”
Clara suddenly remembered the pictures from the news and instinctively stepped back.
“Stop bringing up the past; I don’t wanna hear it! You don’t need to go settling scores with Leah either. Elio, if you really want me
to be happy, just let me make a call to Emmett, okay?”
Elio’s face immediately changed. He opened his mouth, but no words came out.
“I won’t meet him! I just want to warn him about Leah. Emmett doesn’t know that the kids might have been taken away by Leah.
As long as he knows, he can save them.”
Elio hesitated for a moment, as if time had stopped.
After a while, he slowly took out his phone and handed it to Clara. “Go ahead and call him. If I can’t hold onto your heart and you
wanna leave, let Emmett pick you up. I may not be able to protect you, but I’ll make sure those kids are safe and deal with Leah.”
With that, Elio turned to leave, but Clara quickly grabbed him. “Don’t be rash; won’t you listen to my advice? Are you really willing
to risk your life for someone like Leah? It’s not worth it!”
“It’s not about whether it’s worth it or not; I screwed up, and I should take responsibility for my mistakes. My life’s already a mess
anyway. The woman I love doesn’t love me, and the family I want isn’t mine!”
Nestor, who had been standing by, was so frightened that he grabbed Elio’s clothes. “Elio, think it through! Life’s a one-shot deal;
don’t waste it! I can beg you on my knees. Please don’t do anything stupid!”
With that, Nestor began to cry. He hugged Elio’s legs. “I lost my child, and I’ve always treated you like my own son! If you do
something rash, how am I supposed to live?”
Elio bent down slightly and pulled Nestor up. “Nestor, I messed up!”
“I know, I know! But sacrificing your life isn’t the only way to make up for mistakes! Ms. Calloway...” Nestor finished and looked
at Clara.
Suddenly!
Nestor fell to his knees. “Ms. Calloway, I beg you, save Elio. He can’t die!”
Clara was at a loss, not knowing how to respond.
“Get up.”
“I won’t get up, not until you agree!”
Elio also went over to pull Nestor up. “Nestor, don’t do this.”
“Then promise me that you won’t go after Leah again, okay? If you want Leah dead, I’ll do it! Show me how to use that gas
bomb, and I’ll take care of it!”
“Nestor, get up.”
“No, I won’t. I’ve lived long enough; there’s nothing left for me. My daughter’s gone, and so is my wife. But Elio, you’re still young.
There’s a long road ahead of you. You can’t throw away your life because of a wicked person like this.”
Clara watched Nestor, and her heart began to ache. She squatted down and looked at Elio. “Don’t you see how impulsive your
decision is? Look at how much it’s hurting people!”
