Twin Soul

Book 3: Chapter 7 (1/9)

Because of Anwyn's active [Analyze] spell, she could sense an additional powerful presence the moment Finwe flew back into the castle. Anwyn smiled and said, "You came back."

Anwyn then casted another[Analyze] spell to enhance its effect and Finwe's shadow started to appear, revealing who he was. After realizing Finwe was just an Evolved Thunder Eagle, she suspiciously asked, "Were you the one who casted the strong mind spell on me earlier?"

Flying in mid-air using his Eagle Wings, Finwe nodded and calmly admitted, "Yes, that was one of my magic spells."

"What kind of magic was it? You aren't a Devil Mage so I'm sure it wasn't the [Blissful Mirage] spell." contemporary romance

Instead of answering Anwyn, Finwe took out the long sword on his back, activated [Thunder Step] to enhance his flying speed to a hundred times faster, and flew toward Anwyn's back to attack her. Anwyn smirked as she allowed Finwe's longsword to touch her back and it bounced back just like she expected would have happened. Finwe repeatedly struck his long sword over a hundred times but couldn't even cause a minor scratch on Anwyn's back. After seeing Finwe wouldn't stop, Anwyn released a powerful windy aura from her Magical Staff and blasted Finwe back fifty feet, stopping him from continuing to strike his long sword at her. Anwyn's Physical Resistance rate was very high, but she wasn't stupid enough to allow Finwe to repeatedly strike his long sword too many times.

Seeing Finwe dumbly stare at her in skepticism, Anwyn explained, "Even if you attack me ten thousand times, not a single scratch will be caused to my body. Your physical strength isn't strong enough to break through my Physical Resistance rate. What are you going to do? Are you going to play a mind game with me again?"

Back to reality, Kain could see Finwe and Anwyn were just staring at each other. Finwe had already casted [Duplicity] spell on Anwyn the moment she attempted to see him using the second [Analyze] spell. Unlike the [Delusion World] spell, [Duplicity] allowed Finwe to fight with Anwyn inside her mind by creating an exact similar battlefield mirrored with the real world and slowly shaping the battle to his favor.

The goal was to break Anwyn's fighting spirit and lower her Magical Resistance rate for Finwe to successfully cast the [Delusion World] spell to trap Anwyn inside her mind again. Using the [Duplicity] spell would put Finwe in a vulnerable state allowing anyone to kill him in one attack as he had no idea what was going on in the real world. That was why Finwe only used the [Duplicity] spell in a one versus one battle. Another bad thing about [Duplicity] was that the enemy can instantly wake up the moment someone harms him/her in real life which was why Kain couldn't attack Anwyn even though she was just standing still and wasn't moving. If Kain could kill Anwyn in one strike, then that would be very easy to resolve. But knowing there was no way Anwyn would have died in just one attack, Kain decided not to risk it and let Finwe do his trick.

Besides Kain, his conjured creatures, and convened Ancient Vampires, no one else could see Finwe because his [Invisibility Cloak] spell prevents them from doing so. Kain's job was to revive the hundred thousand Ancient Vampires along with all of his conjured creatures and commanded them to protect Finwe, preventing any Devil to come near him while he and Anwyn had a mental battle. If Finwe dies, Kain can just conjure him back, but doing so would allow Anwyn to be aware of Finwe's power, making her harder to fall for his tricks.

Inside the mental battle between Anwyn and Finwe. Finwe couldn’t cause any damage against Anwyn but the same result went for her also. Anwyn’s magic spells were very powerful, but what’s the point of being strong if it kept on missing the target. Finwe didn’t want Anwyn to know she had fallen inside his [Duplicity] spell, that was why Finwe tried to make the battle between him and her as real as possible by making all of his attacks seem to be useless against Anwyn. At the same time, Finwe made his speed to be much faster than reality forcing Anwyn to be not able to damage him using any of her magic spells.

Anwyn thought to herself, "He is using some kind of magic system that I do not know of. It allowed him to move much faster than his average speed without the need of using the [Thunder Step] spell."

Finwe can easily make it seem like he was using [Thunder Step] spell, but it wouldn't be logical if he can keep that spell active for hours without reaching mana depletion. Finwe could feel that it was going to take much longer than just several hours to mentally exhaust Anwyn inside his [Duplicity] spell.

Back to reality. Some Devils noticed something weird was happening when they saw the Devil Overlord kept standing still staring into a direction of emptiness. They carefully looked in that direction and didn’t see anything because Finwe's presence was still unexposed due to his active [Invisibility Cloak] spell. Evienne backed away from fighting Devil-Kain, letting other Devil Warriors take her place. Like some other Devils, Evienne knew something was wrong with the Devil Overlord but she couldn’t figure out what was.

Evienne told other Devils who were also looking at the Devil Overlord, “The human must have some kind of trick making the Overlord stay still. We needed to go help her to get out of that area!” Evienne then flew toward Anwyn’s direction followed by five other Devil Warriors.

Kain remembered how he rudely banished Evienne back to the Hell Realm before giving the Soul Advancement Stone to Finwe and thought to himself, “I made the right decision to put my guard up that day or this bitch would have known about Finwe’s Delusionist Soul.”

Per Kain’s instructions, the hundred thousand Ancient Vampires blocked Evienne and five other Devil Warriors from approaching any closer toward the area of Finwe and Anwyn.

Evienne turned her head toward black-hair Kain and angrily asked, “What did you do to the Overlord? Why is she just standing there?”
