Chapter 83
Sean could still clearly see the expression of fear and worry emanating from Letta's face. This made Sean sigh deeply.
"Let it go, maybe you don't want to go back to your hometown. It's okay. You don't need to answer my question," Sean said, making Letta look up and then smile faintly as she gazed at Sean, who was sipping his cold drink in front of her. "Alright, then let's just finish everything. Tomorrow we have to reopen the shop until my mother returns. But if you're tired, you can go back home first," Sean said again, making Letta shake her head.
"No need, I can help you," Letta said, finally tidying up the shop before walking back home.
"I heard there's a dessert shop at the end of the street that just opened and is popular with visitors. If you want, I can treat you there. Maybe you need some sweet food?" Sean suddenly asked as they walked halfway from their shop, making Letta stop in her tracks, as did Sean, who was now looking at Letta with his neutral gaze.
"You're treating me?" Letta asked, looking surprised, making Sean nod his head.
"Yes, of course. Besides, I'm sure you don't have any money, right?" Sean said somewhat hesitantly, making Letta smile and nod her head.
"Yes, that's right. I really have nothing. Luckily, there's your mother," Letta said as she continued walking.
"Meri is indeed very kind, as you said. She doesn't know me, but she was willing to accommodate me in her house," Letta continued, making Sean continue walking. It seemed like Letta was starting to open up slowly, Sean thought, prompting him to choose to listen to her explanation.
"I have a life that's difficult to explain. I have a great fear. That's why, for now, I still can't say why I don't want to go back there. But I promise, I will find a job and move out of your place as soon as possible," Letta said, looking up.
"But aren't you already working at our Chicken shop? I'm sure my mother won't let your efforts go to waste. She will definitely pay you," Sean said, making Letta shake her head.
"Even if she offers me money, I won't accept it. How could I accept it after she accommodated me, provided me with clothes, and even gave me food? Let's just consider it as my repayment for her kindness," Letta said, making Sean glance at her briefly.
"But for now, it seems like I'm still causing trouble for you all," Letta said again, bowing her head and looking at her feet.
"It's okay, besides, you don't take up much space. I mean, your food isn't much, and you're not much of a bother," Sean said again, making Letta remain silent. Until they kept walking until they reached the end of the street, where there was a dessert shop that seemed to be closing soon.
"Looks like we're late," Sean said, looking at his watch, as it was already the shop's closing time.
"Are all the desserts gone?" Sean asked the owner of the dessert shop. The shop was quite unique, as it was set up in a container, and the chairs were placed outside the container, giving it a food truck vibe. "There are still some left. How many? Do you want to buy something?" the shop owner replied.
"Yes, please give us some sweet treats. Can we still sit there?" Sean asked again, making the server nod. Finally, they chose to sit down, and not long after, several sweet dishes were served in front of them, making Letta look at them with sparkling eyes.
"This may not be the same as the desserts in hotels or fancy stores, but according to some of my female friends, it's quite suited to their taste buds. I hope you like it," Sean said, which finally made Letta nod and pick up one of the cakes topped with strawberry jam and full of cream. Letta took a bite with sparkling eyes.
"Aren't you trying it? It's really delicious," Letta said when Sean kept staring at her and unknowingly tugged at the corner of his lip.
"Well, it's so good that you even forgot about the cream on your lip," Sean said, making Letta immediately look at him with a question mark.
"Cream on my lip?" Letta asked, making Sean nod.
"It's on your lip," Sean said, making Letta immediately wipe her lips.
"Not there, but on the other side," Sean said, making Letta shift her index finger.
"Make sure I'm not the one finishing the cream," Sean said, making Letta laugh. Letta then proceeded to finish each of the sweet treats, while Sean hadn't finished even one, causing Letta to look at him with a slight grimace. "It seems like I'm the one finishing all these desserts," Letta said.
"It's okay, I did buy them for you. Besides, I'm not really fond of sweet foods," Sean replied.
"Then why did you bring me to this place?" Letta asked curiously.
"I don't know, maybe to repay your tiredness today. Thank you for your cooperation and for agreeing to open my mom's shop. Actually, I had some plans for this weekend, but I couldn't leave you alone to open the shop. Moreover, I'm quite pleased with the number of customers we got today, it's quite a lot," Sean said again, causing Letta to look at him immediately with a sense of guilt.
"You had a commitment with someone. Forgive me. I shouldn't have insisted to Meri about opening the shop, which Meri should have given you time for and the weekend. You must want to spend time with someone, right?" Letta said again. "It's alright, after all, they were just a few unimportant promises," Sean said, making Letta finally nod.
"Are you done with your dessert?" Sean asked, making Letta nod her head.
"Then let's go home," Sean said again, which finally made them head back. Letta smiled along the way, making Sean somehow always want to look at Letta. Although there was a sense of suspicion that Sean currently felt, his attraction to Letta couldn't be denied. Letta, a beautiful woman, and it seemed like she wasn't a bad person either, Sean thought, finally causing him to stop his steps. Letta also stopped, then looked at Sean.
"Why?" Letta asked, looking at Sean who was looking at her in silence.
"I think I like you," Sean suddenly said, making Letta almost choke on her own saliva. Letta widened her eyes looking at Sean.
"What, it seems like my ears misheard?" Letta said again, making Sean take a step forward, causing Letta to blink several times.
"I think I like you," Sean repeated, making Letta unsure of how to respond to Sean's words.
