Chapter To save 5
Chapter 5
Chapter 5
It seemed like he was trying to find even a trace of forgery.
But before he could find anything, Layla, who had been cowering behind him, suddenly clutched her forehead and spoke weakly, “Fabian, I feel so dizzy and uncomfortable.”
With that, she rolled her eyes and fainted.
She fell right into Fabian’s arms.
Fabian, panicking and helpless, quickly picked her up and pushed past his mom, rushing out the door.
“Doctor, there’s a patient who’s fainted.”
Fabian’s voice trembled, even with a hint of tears.
It seemed he was genuinely worried. I used to think his indifference toward me was because he wasn’t used to showing emotions.
It turned out he just didn’t love me.
His mom tried to follow but was stopped by Lucas.
He shook his head, his eyes filled with disappointment.
“Forget it, Fabian won’t care whether Lucy is alive or dead. He’s a heartless beast!”
His mom looked at him in confusion, still struggling to understand how her son could be so cold–hearted.
A man in his sixties sat on the ground, crying with tears streaming down his face.
I wanted so much to hug her, tell her it was okay, that I didn’t care anymore, and that she shouldn’t be angry with Fabian on my behalf.
Seeing her white hair appear overnight, I felt my heart ache to the extreme.
But I could only float beside her, silently sharing her tears.
Just when she was crying almost to the point of exhaustion, the phone suddenly rang.
Her hand trembled so much that she missed the answer button a few times before finally hitting it.
As soon as she answered, a weak voice came through the receiver,
“Mom, where is Lucy?”
Her eyes widened instantly, and she trembled as she spoke, “Bruce, you’re awake?” Seeing her joyous expression, I really wanted to follow her to see Bruce.
He had been asleep for so long, and now that he suddenly woke up, he must have a lot to say to me.
But for some reason, no matter how far I tried to go, I would inevitably drift back to Fabian’s side.

Shortly after they left, Layla slowly woke up.
She blinked her innocent big eyes, looking apologetic.
“I’m sorry, I’m really useless. I fainted from a minor injury and delayed you from finding Lucy.”
She gently pushed Fabian.
“You should go now. Don’t delay too long, or Lucy will get even angrier.”
Fabian snorted.
“Don’t mention her. I never realized she was such a scheming woman. It’s really disgusting.
“When she comes back, I’ll propose a divorce. I should have let her abort the child back then. How could someone like her ever be a good mother!”
Every word he said was like a dagger, stabbing deeply into my
heart.
My heart ached to the extreme; it turns out that having a heart die really is a sudden thing.
I regret ever loving Fabian.
In the next life, I just hope I never encounter him again.
Fabian patiently comforted Layla until she fell into a deep sleep in his arms.
He quietly left the ward and gently closed the door.
I followed him, watching him walk out of the hospital with a light step.
He drove directly to a nearby mall and headed straight for a lingerie store.
It pained me so much. He used to refuse to accompany me to lingerie stores, feeling embarrassed.
Now he was so familiar with it.
The shop assistant smiled and asked if he knew his girlfriend’s size. He chuckled lightly and immediately picked out a size by measuring with his hands.
“I want a couple more for this size. No pink ones; she doesn’t like pink.”
My heart felt as if it was being crushed by a heavy stone, causing intense pain.
We had been together for eight years, and he didn’t even remember my clothing size, but he could easily figure out Layla’s lingerie size by hand.
It turned out that all the past issues weren’t because he was indifferent.
It was because he had never loved me.
