Thomas stood back into the shadows as not to be seen a silent observer. Thomas watches with great enthusiasm as each knight thrusts, parries, and hacks their way to victory. The archers pulling their bows sending deadly arrows whizzing through the air. Thomas watched the scene drinking in each movement. Thomas’s heart beat heavily in his chest as his adrenaline pumped enthusiastically throughout his small boy’s body. He knew he was meant to be with these heroes and legends of old. Thomas felt it in his bones that he was to be a great man. Later he would practice his newly attained skills. Thomas would practice each attack and defense he studied with great eagerness and determination that spoke of the old soul within his youngster’s body. Thomas moved and fought invisible foes with the precision of a seasoned warrior. As Thomas played his knight games his mother would worry and fear something awful should be fall her dear son. Her heart broke as she thought of him leaving her all alone. Mary soon spoke to her son about her fears.
“Thomas my son please be wary of your place. You must not let the knights see you practicing with your wooden toy they might think you jest at their expense.” Mary spoke softly as Thomas entered the small living quarters. Thomas was exhausted from a day of work and an evening of combat, he grumbled a response when he only heard parts of his mother’s warning. Thomas made his way to bed without uttering another word. His sleep was disturbed by a soft crying and muffled sniffling. Mary prayed.
“Dear god protect my Thomas, give him wisdom and make all his dreams come true. AMEN”
Mary cried into her hands as Thomas listens hiding in the shadows Thomas stood with his heart aching. At this moment of realization, he vowed to make his mother happy.
