Their Secret Obsession (A Reverse Harem) by Pippa Moon

Chapter 0308

Knox POV

The tension in the room thickened like a dense fog. Kane's eyes flashed with a mix of frustration and desperation as he reached out through our mindlink.

"Knox, please. This isn't the time to bring up family issues. We can't afford to get sidetracked." His mental voice was strained, pleading. I smirked, relishing the discomfort etched on his face.

"Why not? Afraid they'll find out the truth about dear old Dad?" I shot back silently, taunting him.

"I'm serious, Knox. Keep it between us. Charlotte's safety comes first," Kane insisted, his eyes flickering with a hint of vulnerability that only fueled my desire to push further.

Adam and Liam exchanged confused glances, sensing the unspoken exchange but unaware of its content. The air grew heavier, every second stretching the silence taut. I took a deliberate step forward, my gaze locked onto Kane's. "Maybe they deserve to know what kind of man they're dealing with," I suggested through the mindlink, watching as a flash of panic crossed his features.

"Don't do this," Kane warned, a hint of anger seeping into his thoughts. "Not now."

"Is there something you're not telling us?" Adam interjected aloud, his eyes narrowing as he looked between the two of us. Liam's posture stiffened, his attention sharpening at the implication.

I felt a surge of satisfaction. This was it the moment to shatter the illusions Kane so desperately clung to. But as I opened my mouth to speak, a sliver of doubt pierced through my resolve. "Knox, please," Kane's voice softened in my mind, a raw sincerity I hadn't heard in months. "For once, put aside our differences. We need to focus on finding her."

I hesitated, the weight of his plea hanging heavily between us. Havoc stirred within me, conflicted emotions swirling like a storm. The room seemed to hold its breath, all eyes fixed on me. "Well?" Liam prompted, impatience edging his tone. "Are you going to fill us in?"

I glanced at Kane, his expression a fragile mask of composure threatening to crack. The urge to expose the truth battled with the faint remnants of brotherly loyalty buried deep within me. "Knox," Adam pressed, taking a step closer. "If there's something we need to know, now's the time."

My heart pounded in my chest as I stood at the crossroads of decision. Reveal the secrets that could tear our fractured family apart further or swallow my pride for the greater good?

I drew in a slow breath, my mind racing. "There's..."

A sudden crash echoed from the hallway, followed by hurried footsteps. All heads snapped toward the door as Adam swung it open to see a pack member burst into my father's room down the hall, eyes wide with alarm. "Alpha Leigh, come quick!" He ushered my father, who was grumbling on the other side of the door, before it slammed shut loudly, leaving us none the wiser.

"Not suspicious at all." I laughed, shaking my head in astonishment at how much of a shit show this pack now was.

"Regardless, we need to find Lottie. Standing here arguing won't help her," Adam stated, his eyes growing dark as he shut the door. I watched his back flex under his shirt, momentarily reminded of our fight and his hidden strength. "Agreed," I said, meeting his gaze as he turned back to look at us and cursing the embarrassment I felt heating my skin. Kane stepped forward.

"We should start with her room. If someone took her without being seen, that's the most likely place to start. Maybe they took her out the window."

"Yeah, that ain't happening. She is huge..." Liam laughed, rubbing the back of his neck as Kane and I shot him a glare that said more than our words could.

"Careful," I warned, but I hesitated and nodded, understanding his point. It wasn't like someone could smuggle her down a drainpipe.

"Fine. But we split up. We will cover more ground that way. Liam and Kane can go to her room."

"I would rather stay with Adam," Liam laughed, eyeing Kane and me suspiciously.

"I would rather be an only child, but hey ho," I uttered, feeling Kane suck in a sharp breath. I turned to look at him, arching a brow, baiting him to argue with me.

"Knox..." he began, his voice

strained. There was a weariness in his tone I hadn't heard before, a raw vulnerability that caught me off guard. His shoulders slumped ever so slightly, the usual rigid posture giving way to something almost... defeated. For a fleeting moment, I saw the toll this was taking on him-the dark circles under his eyes, the tightness around his mouth. But the moment passed, and I hardened my gaze.

"Look, Liam," I started to say, ignoring Kane's pained voice. "If Kane and Adam go together, who's to say they won't get 'into it' again? And if I go with Kane, I'm more likely to throw the fucker from a window than help him look through it." I admitted as I looked at Adam, who sighed but nodded.

"Guess we all know where we stand then." Kane looked at me.

His eyes met mine, a storm of

emotions swirling within them-hurt,

anger, regret The pain behind his

gaze was almost palpable, but I

refused to let it affect me. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then closed it, a shadow crossing his face. It was as if he was realising just how wide the abyss between us had grown. I met his eyes, a mix of resentment and determination reflected back at me.

"If you didn't already know, then that's your issue, 'brother," I laughed, dragging out the word 'brother' and sprinkling my tone with contempt. The sting of betrayal still burned deep, and I wasn't about to let him forget it. "Adam and I will go talk to Alpha Leigh. We will meet you in her room," I commanded, nodding for Adam to follow me.

Without another word, we headed out. The weight of what lay ahead pressed heavily on my shoulders. The thought of Lottie scared and alone fueled my resolve. I couldn't let anything happen to her-not again. "Hang on, angel. I'm coming for you."
