Chapter the Wife 8

Chapter 8 Lies

Even in her coma, Sally was calling out Andy’s name. Anders had no choice; he decided to call his bodyguard and have Andy brought to Sally’s hospital room.

Anders looked at the unconscious Sally, feeling a pang of guilt for the first time.

He even considered that if this woman could stop causing trouble, he might actually try to live a good life with her and never mention divorce again.

When Andy was brought to Sally’s room, she happened to wake up.

Seeing her son sitting by her bed, Sally’s eyes filled with tears instantly.

She hugged her son and cried uncontrollably

Anders stood outside the room, hesitating to go in.

“Mom,” Andy said, “Mom, why are you crying?”

Sally wiped her tears and forced a smile, “Mommy is happy to see you, Andy.”

Sally held her son and talked to him for a long time. Then Andy asked, “Mom, on the way here, I heard the doctors talking about you. Mom, are you sick?”

Sally was startled.

She knew her condition well but couldn’t let Andy find out.

Andy was so young: how could he handle knowing his mother was seriously ill?

Sally gently tapped Andy’s nose, “Sweetie, don’t listen to their nonsense.

Andy looked at her with wide, innocent eyes.

Sally felt a pang of sadness but smiled, “Mommy is telling you a secret, okay? You mustn’t tell anyone

Andy nodded seriously.

Sally thought for a moment and then said half–jokingly, “Mommy isn’t really sick. I made a deal with the doctors to tell a little lie.”

Anders, standing outside the door, was stunned.

What?

A lie?

Sally continued to smile at her son, “Mommy needs a lot of money right now, and only by lying will your daddy give us the money. Do you understand?”

Andy seemed to partially understand but quickly puffed up in anger, “But that man never lets me call him daddy…

Sally patted his shoulder soothingly, “It’s okay, Andy. Just remember, our little secret must stay between us. Understand?

Andy nodded earnestly, “I understand, Mommy. I’ll keep the secret!”

Sally smiled with relief.

Meanwhile, Anders, standing outside the door, was furious!

This despicable woman dared to conspire with the doctors to deceive him!

And all for money!

Anders laughed coldly.

How ridiculous he had been to feel pity for Sally!

He even thought about living a good life with her.

What a fool he had been!

Anders glanced coldly at the hospital room door, then walked away without a backward glance.

He would never feel soft–hearted toward this woman again, ever.

At that moment, Sally was more concerned about Andy’s condition than her own health.

After sending Andy back to his room, she returned to her apartment.

Looking at the luxurious apartment, Sally felt a mix of emotions.

Anders had married her at all costs, but he constantly humiliated her.

Every time Anders came to this apartment, it marked the beginning of her suffering.

Sally took a deep breath and opened the apartment door.

Since Anders refused to lend her money, she had to see if there was anything valuable in the apartment that she could sell.

For Andy’s sake, she had to try everything!

Since learning that Anders had rescued Sally the previous night, Mary had been restless.

She was convinced that Anders had no feelings for Sally, but the previous night’s events alarmed her.

Did Anders still have feelings for that woman?

Mary later visited Anna in the hospital.

Anna was still in a coma, but even so, she kept murmuring Sally’s name, saying things like ‘don’t hurt her.”

George wanted to punish Sally, but hearing his wife’s words, he held back and didn’t report Sally to the police.

Mary observed all this and felt deeply alarmed.

Others didn’t know the truth, but Anna did.

If Anna woke up, Mary would be in big trouble!

George stayed by Anna’s side all day, giving Mary no chance to harm her. Frustrated, Mary called Melody to ask what to do next.

Melody thought for a moment and then said, “Why don’t you just unplug Anna’s oxygen mask?”

Mary felt a headache coming on, “Mom, are you kidding? George is always in the room. I haven’t had a chance.”

“There will be a chance, Melody insisted. “George can’t stay in the room every second. You could frame that wretched Sally or coerce her into doing the dirty work…”

Mary was about to refuse but suddenly had a brilliant idea.

“Mom, I have a plant Mary said excitedly.

Sally had gathered all the valuable jewelry from the apartment to sell. Just as she was about to contact the second–hand market, Mary called her.

Sally didn’t want to answer, but Mary was persistent, calling repeatedly.

Sally muttered a curse under her breath and answered the call.

“What do you want?” Sally’s tone was icy.

“Sally, you must be short on money now, right?” Mary asked meaningfully.

Sally frowned, “Mary, what trick are you trying to play now?”

Mary snorted, “I’m offering you a chance to make money. Do you want it?”

Sally couldn’t help but mock, “You want me to beg Anders again to satisfy your perverse pleasure?”

Mary felt a surge of anger.

This hateful woman, always so sharp–tongued!

Mary steadied herself and said, “I’ll be honest. My mother is in a coma. All you have to do is go to the hospital and unplug her oxygen mask. I’ll give you the money for your son’s treatment, Deal?

Sally was stunned.

It took several seconds for her to speak.

“Mary, are you insane?” Sally looked incredulous. “Ms. Anna is your mother! How can you want to unplug her oxygen mask?”

Mary remained unphased, “I’m giving you a way to make money. Will you do it or not?”

Sally couldn’t believe such a malicious woman existed!

Anna was Mary’s mother! How could she be so cruel as to hire someone to unplug her own mother’s oxygen mask?

Sally couldn’t hold back and cursed, “Mary, are you even human? You’re a lunatic!”
