Chapter 16 Unexpected Situation

Gale, standing at a distance, observed everything that had just happened.

However, he didn’t immediately approach Sally but kept a silent watch on her situation.

After a while, he called over a nearby waiter and whispered a few words in his ear.

Sally had been busy for several hours. Just as she was about to take some new drinks to the hall, a waiter called out to her.

With a puzzled expression, Sally looked at the waiter who brought a delicate lunch and said with a smile,” Hello, it’s lunchtime now.”

Sally was surprised, “Me? Lunchtime?”

She found it strange since Selena hadn’t mentioned that the gallery would provide lunch when she introduced the job.

The waiter moved the lunch tray closer and said, “This is a special preparation by the gallery for the staff. Everyone else has already eaten.”

Hearing that the others also had lunch, Sally felt relieved and took the tray. “Thank you.”

After the waiter left, Sally found a quiet corner to eat her lunch.

Honestly, she hadn’t expected the gallery to provide lunch today.

“This is my mother’s proud work, which took her three years to complete,” Mary said into the microphone. “This is a rehearsal, so please be patient.”

Although it was just a rehearsal, many people asked if they could see the painting now.

Mary pretended to be in a difficult position, “This is my mother’s work, and it’s supposed to be unveiled tomorrow…”

The crowd looked disappointed. Seeing this, Mary quickly smiled, “But since you are all esteemed guests of our gallery, I suppose a quick look wouldn’t hurt.”

Everyone’s eyes lit up with anticipation.

The hall buzzed with chatter.

Mary’s expression turned dark, and Gale’s face also changed.

“Who did this?” Mary asked, suppressing her anger. “Who is responsible for this? Investigate immediately!”

Everyone looked at each other. Soon, Mia stepped out of the crowd.

“Oh my God! What happened? How could this be?” Mia feigned shock, then turned her gaze to a certain person in the crowd.

“To think someone would dare to destroy Mrs. Anna’s painting!” Mia said angrily. “It’s truly wicked..”

The crowd was bewildered. Mary then said, ‘The culprit, are you not brave enough to come forward?”

Sally had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, Mia pushed through the crowd and dragged her out!

Suddenly, Sally found herself in the middle of the hall, still in a daze!

Everyone turned their attention to her, making her scalp tingle with fear.

Mary, that hateful woman, was she trying to frame her again?

Before Sally could speak, Mary glared at her.

“Sally, why… why did you

do this?” Mary’s eyes welled up with tears. Do you know how much effort my mother put into this painting? And you destroyed it…. you’re too much!”

Sally was furious, “Don’t accuse me falsely! When did I destroy Mrs. Anna’s painting? Do you have any evidence?”

Mary quickly looked at Mia.

Mia said confidently, “Sally, stop lying. I saw you sneaking into the storage room where the paintings are kept!”

What? How was that possible?

Sally retorted, “If you saw me going to the storage room, why didn’t you stop me?”

Mia’s explanation was unconvincing, and Mary quickly realized it. With a righteous tone, she said, “Sally. I know you hold a grudge from the past, right?”

Sally was annoyed, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
