Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 23
-POV
Ayame-
Over the next two days, I was attached to Edon's hip. I didn't want to be anywhere else. In my defense, I wasn't the only one. Emily went as far as to having a fresh mark on her neck! Her and Kyle were inseparable. To the point where it was almost intoxicating to be in the same room as them and not in a good way. We all agreed to steer clear of them. Thankfully, it was easy enough. I decided to use my time to research some more while Edon worked with Charlie on a few pack items. Even with Conri, Vil, and Vince away, the pack didn't skip a beat. It seems to be a pack perk, having three alphas and all.
I sat in a daze while my legs swung back and forth over Edon's knees. We were in the office on the fifth floor and I wasn't really interested in being anywhere else. Edon had his arms on either side of me while he continued to fill out a report. On the heading of the document, it said something about a dungeon transfer.
I peeked over the top of my book and glanced at the information. "Curious?" Edon asked and I just realized he had stopped typing.
I resituated myself so I could see him and he kissed me softly. So yummy. I bit my lip and thought over my response. I don't know if this stuff is confidential. If so, I might be in trouble for reading it. "I...I was just wondering who was being transferred?" I asked honestly. I really was interested in the person, more so than the paperwork. What did he do that was so wrong that they ended up in the dungeon in the first place?
He leaned back and scooped my legs up so I was cuddled into his chest while my bare feet rested on his thigh. "A werewolf we captured when I came back to see you. I was jumped by nine rogue wolves and he refused to tell us who sent him. I don't have any choice but to send him to the Fae kingdom for further questioning." He said. I nodded once. "He's lucky to be alive to make it that far." He added under his breath and I was again reminded that the werebear I see was not the one I fantasized about in my childhood dreams. Edon was dangerous. Just...not to
me.
"Well, hopefully they will have better luck?" I semi-stated...partially questioned. When learning about the pack's fundamentals, Edon didn't tell me much about disciplinary actions and neither did Vilkas when I asked, but I got the gist. The dungeon is not where you want to be. Edon smirked. "They never fail to get the truth. They have fairies curse them." He sighed heavily and pulled a hair away from my eye. "It's not something that is pleasant for anyone and we do our best not to bring the Fae into our problems, but we have been having a lot of rogue attacks lately and we need to get to the bottom of it."
I shrugged my shoulders and let him graze his lips along my neck while I arched my back for a better angle. "I'm fine with it...I don't really want to know people are being tortured, but he attacked the pack. Is that bad of me...to....to think that way?" I asked breathlessly, trying to stay focused on the conversation. My body was heating up with every kiss.
Ever since I finally let my guard down, I have been staying in Edon's room and I love it there. Now he doesn't have to come in all the time to coax me out of my nightmares. If anything, the nightmares rarely came. I'm actually getting a full night's sleep in his warm arms. At least when he allows me a full night sleep. "Edon." I whimpered and I could hear him growl deeply.
Oh geeze, what that did to me was not fair. He has worshiped me from head to toe every night since he came home. I'm now overly sensitive to everything. "I can smell your arousal, princess." Edon whispered tauntingly in my ear and I squeaked.
"Edon, now you and I both know your brothers are no more than an hour away from here and you are going to rile her up before they even get here?" Charlie asked, coming into the office.
Edon grumbled something inaudible to my ears, but Charlie heard it and scoffed. "What is it Charlie?" He asked irritably. I could...feel...that this would have gotten much more interesting if Charlie didn't come in and interrupt us. I know that Edon was pissed about that. A small part of me was too, even if my back was a little sore from last night's escapades.
"I just got word that the party planning is finished and Emily has done a great job taking over for Kyle and I, thankfully. The welcome back party will go on without a hitch. Don't know why we need it though. They've only been gone for less than three days." Charlie said, plopping on the couch. "Anything else?" Edon asked impatiently.
"Oh yeah, the Fae transport has just arrived. Did you finish the transfer documents?" Charlie continued tersely. I don't think he was happy about this at all. Unfortunately, Charlie has been playing referee between two couples all weekend and I feel bad for the guy. "Yes, I'll print them now. Are you sure we can't crack him?" He asked again with worry in his eyes.
"Yes, I am sure. Nothing worked, then, he just started staring off into the ether. I don't know who trained this one, but he was prepared to be tor...I mean talked to." Charlie said, clearing his throat and looking between the two of us. I already knew he was going to say tortured, but I really didn't want to hear about it. I'm thankful for his discretion.
"Sweetie, you can head out to meet with Emily. I'm sure she will want to get ready for the party or something. I'm going to chat with Charlie." He kissed the top of my forehead and I slipped off his lap. Before I got too far, he grabbed my hand gently. "Oh, and remember.... I giggled. "Yes, Edon. I remember. You aren't mad. I'm fine, honest." I turned back around and gave him a soft peck on the lips before skipping out of the office to find Emily. I made it to the third floor before I found her draping streamers over the banister. She really is good at this whole decorating thing. This is a great vantage point from the door,so the banner and sequined streamers were a nice touch. "Need any help?" I asked, tapping her on the shoulder. She reached out, one of the streamers in hand, and I grabbed low, while she held the rest high. "Thank you. We are almost out of time and this is the last thing, then I have you to deal with." She mumbled, taping the streamers down in place.
"Me to deal with?" I asked, all but assuming what she meant by that. Emily loved fashion at heart and I would prefer to steer clear of it.
"Oh, my sweet, sweet Ayame, you are the Luna now. You can't just show up to greet your alphas in leggings and a sweatshirt."
I looked down at my outfit. This is all I wear aside from my gym clothes when we work out in the packhouse gym. I didn't want a repeat of Friday's nonsense, so Emily and I decided to just stick around the house. I huffed, snuggling my body further into Edon's sweatshirt, comfortably housing my torso and arms while the hem rested just past my knees. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing? I like this outfit." I whimpered.
She burst out laughing and grabbed my hand, taking me up to the fifth floor. Even with her laughter I was scared. This girl knows her way around a closet, and she was the one who picked all of my nice clothes. I didn't have the stomach for the price tags. She plopped my bum in front of a mirror with a small dresser in front of it. Laid across the light tan wood were an array of make-up and hair care products. Staring at my reflection for a moment, she nodded and silently got to work.
After Emily had finally got the last curl in place and clipped it on my head, she looked at me with venom in her eyes. "Don't move. I don't want to mess up my masterpiece. I will be right back!" She sprinted out of the room, closing the door behind her.
I sat on the cushioned stool and waited patiently. Emily finally made it back wearing a nice black and white polka dot dress with an open back and satin tie around the neck. The skirt flowed down nicely and rested just above her knee. She wore classic converse with it to dress down the ensemble. Her normally curly light brown hair was nestled in a fishtail braid, pinned to one side and her make-up was a golden hue that made her face glow. "Okay! Your hair should be cool now! Let's go shock some souls and aggravate some alphas!" She sprayed setting spray on my face first then pulled all the curls out. Finally, she topped me off with some hairspray that smelled terrible.
"Emily, I don't want to aggravate anyone." I grumbled.
"Sorry, I can't hear you over this little number." She pulled out a baby blue a-line dress with dark blue watercolor flowers decorating the fabric. The straps are gently ruffled and even I loved the design.
Carfeully slipping out of my current outfit, I hurriedly shimmied my body into the light fabric, and the white gladiator sandals that laced up to my knees. "Emily...." I said with such gratitude, staring at my unrecognizable reflection. You could barely see the scar on my cheek, but nothing felt heavy. I didn't even feel like I was wearing any make-up. I had a light brush of silver and blue on my lid and a soft nude lip gloss and blush to match. I really looked beautiful. She even kept my hair down, so my scarred back wasn't too visible. It was perfect. "No crying. Kyle just told me that Alpha Vilkas and Conri are here. It looks like a few Alphas from the conference came back with them as well. It really is going to be a fun party once we make it down there with dry faces." Emily said, pushing me out of the room. I was thankful she gave me sandals so I didn't trip over my own two feet trying to keep up with the impatient shewolf.
I huffed as we made it down the stairs and my perfectly placed, wavy hair fell around my face. I looked up and saw all three of my triplets together again. Their attendance in the room demanded respect. The three of them in dark blue jeans and button-up shirts of varying colors to match. "Damn." Vilkas said, first rubbing his hand over his lips, and I blushed immediately. Aggravation accomplished.
I looked to my left expecting Emily to be there, but that little traitor was already with Kyle and they were welcoming some other people that looked important. "Those are the three alpha families that came home with us. They are interested in our assistance. Their packs are having some issues with their boarders lately." Conri said with a sigh. I can always rely on him for the truth. "However," He said, reverting the conversation elsewhere.
I felt Edon's arm slip around my back and I was against his chest in a second. "You really need to wear your leggings." Edon added tersely.
I winced, thinking he would like it... that they would all like it. I even thought - after Emily's unrelenting coaxing - that the leggings might be too dressed down for a party. Vilkas walked up behind me and leaned over to kiss my neck before whispering in my ear. "If you did, we wouldn't have to stick to you like glue tonight. Every unmated male within a mile of here is looking at you, princess!"
Once he finished his response, I knew my whole face was red as he stood back to his full height. What a compliment for the child of the hour. But now I know they didn't like it, they loved it. I looked around and sure enough, they were right, every man was looking at me. Some were even taken. I shivered and moved closer to Edon. He smirked and guided us behind Conri and Vilkas as we walked through the party goers. "Don't worry about it. No one is stupid enough to pick a fight with us." Edon said nonchalantly.
"Why not?" I asked. Wait, why are they fighting in the first place?
"Because they will lose." Conri said, and that's when I realized we weren't heading further into the party. We were heading to their office on the first floor. My stomach dropped and I remembered what Edon said yesterday. Apparently, Vilkas needed to talk to me.
