The Unwanted Luna

Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 103

-POV

Ayame-

I knew it was uncomfortable to stay in the hospital, and everyone wanted me to head back with the others, but I will not. For now, where Vil goes, I go. He was mortally wounded in the attack, and he hasn't stirred since then. It was almost November and well passed the time for the snow to stick in Bodhi Cora. However, where we were staying, it was still warm and the leaves were starting to fall. I shifted my head a bit on the thick white blankets covering Vil's body while he slept soundly. "Please, sir...please wake up." I whispered through the link almost like my brain was on auto pilot. I didn't dare open my eyes to be disappointed for yet another day, but every day I still hoped.

"Oh, you have no idea how good it is to hear your voice, my beautiful angel." I shot my head up and he squinted at the rapid movement.

I gasped and grinned from ear to ear. "Sorry, sir, but your finally awake!" I shouted and he winced again.

"Angel, I have a headache." He grumbled and I giggled, kissing him immediately. Maybe talking to him through the link is a little much after he has been out for so long.

His arms were around me in seconds and he tightened his grip while he pushed his control on me. "I guess that means Vil's finally awake." Edon called, and I quickly pulled away, leaving a grumpy wolf behind. I spun around to meet Conri and Edon carrying in some food from the burger joint down the street.

I nodded happily. "He's awake! I shouted and Conri held out a bag. I knew it was mine and I went straight for it. Once it was secure, I sped back to Vil's side, plopping the bag next to him. He furrowed his brow and looked at the bag. "Now Edon doesn't have to eat your portion." He smirked and tapped my nose. "You got me a portion every time you went to eat?" Vil asked.

I furrowed my brow like this was a stupid question, but it really wasn't. I was just the overly optimistic weird one in this situation. "Of course! What if you woke up and we were eating burgers in front of you?" I asked.

He nodded as at least his mind understood my reasoning. "You are definitely Vil's mate." Kyle said with a sigh, slipping through Conri and Edon's large frames lingering towards the doorframe.

"She's our mate." The three of them said together.

Kyle waved his hand, not really caring. "Whatever."

Edon and Kyle sat next to each other, and I gave Vil his burger that he inhaled. I guess he was hungry. "Anyone going to call the doc?" I asked once we were all done eating.

"No." Vil said shortly and finished off his drink, tossing it in the bin across the room with great accuracy.

"Why not?" I asked.

"When he says he's healthy he checks himself out. It's always been his thing." Edon said with a shrug.

"Really? Is that why everyone was so calm?"

"We tried to tell you, little one." Conri concluded.

I shrugged. "Either way. I don't care which one of you is in the hospital, I will never leave you behind." I said sternly, turning to face the man in question.

"Oh really?" He said with a raised brow.

"Yes." I answered with just as much force.

"Well, it looks like someone has found herself again." Vil kissed my lips gently and pulled away. "It looks good on you, angel." He hummed before leaning back on the bed.

"So do you want to tell us how you got your shit handed to you?" Conri asked, leaning back on the cushion.

Vil growled irritably. "We were all at least three to one for the whole fight until these little demon twins came out of nowhere and roasted the four warriors I was with along with the two betas. I tried my best to fight everyone off but one of the damn Lycans made his way underneath me."

"Dude, that's survival one-o-one." Kyle mocked.

"So, help me if I find a scalpel, we will see how well your survival skills last." Vil spat back curtly.

"So that's why you told me to run." Edon said, and Vil nodded.

"What happened to those evil little nightmares anyways?"

"Edon decapitated one and the other is being tortured in Bodhi Cora for more information. We need to make sure mom didn't have another back-up plan."

"Well, if she's there along with her, have her talk." The room went silent and three pairs of eyes turned to me before the fourth one slowly turned my way shortly after. "Why are you all quiet all of a sudden?"

"I didn't have a choice! Vince and the other gammas were fighting off the horde that got through the main lines of defense and I couldn't let them leave. They have done enough damage. Enough was enough." I said shortly. "I'm sorry that they had to die and it hurts that I took a life, but -"

I squealed as my feet left the ground and I found myself in Vil's arms again. "You did it, angel!" Vil shouted. He plopped me on his lap and I was terrified he was going to open one of his stitches. "Did anyone call the Elder?" Vil said excitedly. I think this is the most happiness I've ever seen on the man.

"Yes, I called him a week ago. He has sealed the contract and it is official. Her final trial was completed." Conri confirmed.

"So, now that Vil is awake can you please tell me what that means? I thought I already was the Luna." I said, looking over at Conri and getting comfortable in Vil's arms while he rose up the bed to a sitting position. I had a feeling I still had some unfinished business, but I thought that was because I needed this for myself.

"You were already the Luna because the pack accepted you, but the Luna ceremony consists of a trial that you must complete to make the title permanent." Kyle said.

"Yeah, but I did that already when I got my memory back."

"That was the first part of it, remember?" Edon pushed.

I thought about it for a second and nodded slowly. "Yes." Maybe that's why I thought I had some unfinished business.

"So, you needed to finish the second part, which was fighting your greatest enemy." Conri concluded.

My mouth dropped open and Vil gently closed it for me. I took a breath as the pieces started to click into place. "Is that why you didn't execute Malerie or her mother the minute you knew she escaped?"

The four of them nodded. "Everyone else was already taken care of, so we were running out of options." Edon rubbed the back of his head, confessing their logic.

Well, I'm glad they think they did their job a little too well. "Why the hell wasn't I told about this?!"

"For one, tone, angel. And for two, because you needed to come to terms with your decisions on your own. We couldn't make that decision for you."

"What if I failed?!" I shouted back, ignoring Vil's comment.

He squeezed my hip and I still ignored him. "We knew you wouldn't. We were a little hesitant at first, but then we just had a feeling you could do this, princess. Just like our mother was doomed to fail, your drive to protect others without fail is what gave us the ability to trust this test and see it to its end." Edon cooed.

I slipped off the bed and looked at the three of them. "You know I'm not the only one that can get punished!" I shouted. "No sex for a week!" I shouted and turned on my heels. "I'm getting a pudding cup because apparently I have a Luna trial completion to celebrate." I grumbled leaving three awestruck men and a fourth laughing his ass off. Ugh. Kyle. On my way to the cafeteria, I found my dad and Rollo chatting in the waiting area.

They turned to wave to me and I walked up to them, giving both of them a proper hug. "What are you two doing here? Dad, I thought you went back with Zelena and Emily." Rollo stretched and dad looked at him, then back to me. "I did, but your uncle needs to talk to you, so I said I'd tag along."

Rollo rolled his eyes. "Yeah right, he's just avoiding his duties, again."

"Shove it, Rollo." My dad warned and Rollo scoffed.

"Okay...okay you two. Knock it off. You can tag along. I'm going for some pudding." I said happily, and headed over to the cafeteria with the two of them behind me.

"So, I take it that Vil woke up?" Rollo said.

I nodded happily. "Yeah, and then those three idiots told me that killing their mother was part of the Luna trial! So annoying. I mean, I get why they didn't tell me, but it was still annoying." I grumbled. I didn't really want to get into the whole trial thing too much. It seemed like my uncle was tense enough as it was. I don't want to trouble them with something I can just go to my mates about. I'm relieved it's finally over though, so I can't be too mad at my triplets.

"Wait, you killed Luna Donna?" My uncle said in pure shock. I paid for my pudding and sat at the table furthest away from prying eyes.

"Yes, I did. I couldn't let myself run away from my problem again. I had to do this and, since then, I've felt so much better." I said, glancing at my dad. The twinkle in his eye confirmed that he knew what I was talking about. He was with the guys when they found me at the lake. I'm sure that was not his favorite day to remember.

"Well, I guess hiding stuff from you is really going around." Rollo said, laughing nervously.

"What?" I said, taking a bite of my pudding. "Do you have something you want to tell me too?" I asked.

He sighed harshly. "Both of you actually." He finally managed to say aloud.

"Alright, what is it brother?" Dad asked.

"It's...about your mother."
