The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter My Nephew Leonard 438

Chapter 438

"It's nothing. If you're busy, then just forget about it," Noelle said.

With that, she turned to leave.

But Hendrix quickly grabbed her hand, a smile tugging at his lips. "At least tell me what's happening that day so I can make arrangements."

"It's nothing important. If you don't have time, it's fine." Noelle's voice grew noticeably colder.

But as she turned away, Hendrix reached out from behind and wrapped his arms around her.

"I thought you'd forgotten," he said with a chuckle. "Don't worry. Even if you don't remember, I do. So, what birthday gift did you get me this time?"

"Didn't you say you'd be busy? How are we supposed to celebrate your birthday, then?" Noelle shot back expressionlessly.

Hendrix's smile deepened. He gently pinched her cheek. "I was just teasing you. I've actually been working nonstop lately just to free up that day. How about we go to the beach?"

"The beach? In this weather?" Noelle frowned.

"Then, how about a hot spring? I'll have someone book a hotel."

Noelle didn't respond, seemingly uninterested.

"Then, what do you want to do?" Hendrix asked patiently.

Just as she was about to

answer, his phone rang.

He immediately turned his attention to it.

Noelle hadn't meant to look, but as she turned her head, she caught a glimpse of the name on his phone screen- Olivia Garnet.

She remembered the last time she had been there to witness Hendrix receiving a call from Olivia. Back then, Olivia's number had been unnamed. But now, it was clearly saved under her full name.

Noelle swallowed back down the words she was just about to say.

The person on the other end of the call said something that made Hendrix frown.

"Okay. I got it."

After uttering these words, Hendrix hung up. Then, he turned back to Noelle, his expression shifting quickly.

While he had been cold and serious during the call, his expression softened the moment he looked at her. He was even smiling at her with warmth in his eyes.

"Now, where were we? What did you say you wanted to do?" he asked.

"You should first make sure you're actually free that day before we plan anything," Noelle said as she

turned to leave. "I'm tired, so I'm going back to my room."

Hendrix had wanted to stop her, but Noelle walked away before he could do that.

Just then, Olivia sent over a few photos.

Hendrix opened them, and the frown on his face immediately deepened.

The next morning, Noelle was not surprised to find Hendris already gone by the time she had woken up.

In fact, she had grown used to this kind of life.

She texted her ceramics instructor, letting her know she'd be going over later.

But as Noelle was getting ready to leave; an unexpected visitor came knocking on her door.

Once again, she wasn't particularly surprised when she found out who it was. Though she did instinctively ball her hands into fists.

The visitor looked pale, and her voice trembled slightly as she anxiously stammered out a weak "hello". Noelle nodded in response.

"I'm..."

"I know who you are, Ms. Garnet," Noelle interrupted her. So, what can I do for you?"

It was clear that Olivia was very nervous.
