Chapter 143
Chapter 143
This was Yvonne's first visit to Freeman Manor. She had thoughtfully prepared gifts for both Ophelia and Beatrice, and it was clear from their reactions that they really welcomed her. For the first time in months, there was finally a stir of liveliness in the once-quiet manor.
Hendrix was actually quite surprised by Beatrice's reactions. After all, he had always assumed she adored Noelle, that her loyalty to Gerald's wish was unshakeable.
It was only at that moment that Hendrix realized something he hadn't before-Beatrice simply didn't like Sandra. It was just as she had once said to him, "You can be with anone but Sandra."
The same smile Beatrice had once offered to Noelle now found its way to Yvonne
During dinner, Ophelia suddenly brought up the previous night's auction. "I heard there was quite a commotion at the auction last night."
Hendrix's hand paused mid-motion.
Yvonne glanced at him first before replying with a smile, "Yes, Mrs. Freeman Senior. How did you know?" "How could I not know when it had spread like wildfire within my social circles?" Ophelia frowned. "That Noelle... I used to think she was a sensible young lady, only for her to turn out-
"Mom," interjected Beatrice.
Ophelia turned to look at her.
"She has nothing to do with this family anymore, so let's not bring her up again," continued Beatrice, her voice calm but tinged with displeasure.
Ophelia clicked her tongue in annoyance. "I know she has nothing to do with this family anymore, least complain a little to Yvonne?
but can't lat
"Yvonne, did you know that we Freemans are actually the victims here? The Swansons kept Noelle's past hidden so well that we had no idea about it at all. Because if we did, we would have never let her marry into this family!"
Yvonne smiled nonchalantly. "It's okay, Mrs. Freeman Senior. That's all in the past now, and... I actually think Noelle is kind of pitiful."
"Her, pitiful? Ha! Hendrix is the pitiful one here. She kept him in the dark for so long. If it wasn't
"Grandma," cut in Hendrix softly, effectively stopping Ophelia from going on. "Let's not bring up anyone who doesn't have anything to do with this family."
After that, he turned to Yvonne. "I need to make a call. Please continue on without me.
Without waiting for a reply, he got up and left the table.
Yvorine's smile might have made it seem like she was fine with his abrupt departure, but her slight frown betrayed her true feelings.
Beatrice, however, wasn't surprised. She even took to comforting Yvonne. "That's Hendrix for you. You'll get used
to it.
"By the way, any idea when your parents might be free? It's about time you and Hendrix get engaged, and you can move in with him after that. It'll be wonderful if we can celebrate news of your pregnancy during the wedding as
well."

Beatrice didn't beat around the bush at all. However, as much as Yvonne wanted to marry Hendrix, she felt unsettled by Beatrice's words.
"Isn't it a little too early to talk about children?" she asked with a forced smile.
"Not at all," replied Beatrice with a slight smile. "You should make them while you're still young. This way, it'll take you less time to recover after giving birth. Besides, you don't need to worry about taking care of them because we'll take care of them for you.
"All you need to do is get yourself back into tip-top condition and continue to make more babies for us. You have no idea how long Mom and I have been looking forward to that day."
