Chapter 27
BLAKE
I'm fuming.
I wanted to kill that Elder. He had no right to push me into a decision that could affect Izzy and me, also forcing his granddaughter to do something that she clearly doesn’t want to do.
The man has gone insane.
A few seconds after the Elder left, the office door was pushed open by my mother who looked like someone had possessed her.
She was angry.
I couldn’t stay.
I had to leave the office, I needed to get out.
I was angry and Axel was trying to claw his way out of my head too.
I marched out of the office leaving my father to tell my mother what that crazy man wanted.
I needed to see my mate.
But I can't go.
I know I couldn’t go tonight, it would make me look like a stalker or something but I knew I would see her tomorrow. I needed to know she is okay.
I headed back to my room but I am on the floor where Dale and Kacey’s rooms are. They stay here now and then, especially when their parents argue.
I can tell both of them are there.
I knock on Kacey’s door.
“Come in,” she said.
I needed to tell her what her grandfather wants of her, she needs to know.
I opened the door and walked in; Kacey was sitting on the bed with a notepad.
Dale was there too, sitting in her chair reading some book with his feet up on the bed.
She looked up with a smile but as soon as she sees my face, she frowns, “What happened?”
I couldn’t help the verbal diarrhea that slips from my mouth; I told her everything that was said in the office with her grandfather.
A look of hurt and pain flashed across her face.
She doesn’t say anything at first; she just looks at her hands.
But I know Dale is pissed. I can feel it.
“Why the fuck would he suggest such a thing?” he snarled. “Both of you have mates”
He moves his feet off the bed, placing the book down. He gets up from the chair. “Why does he think he can treat everyone like this?” he said, now pacing the floor.
I said nothing.
I looked at Kacey, she hasn’t said a word.
Her face is hard with no expression on it.
She looked at me.
“Grandad dearest found out I like girls,” she said with hate in her voice. “He told me to grow up and get out of the faze. I need to be with a mate, a male one even if he has to choose my mate for me.”
That explains the whole reason for him demanding I take Kacey as my chosen mate.
“You both…..” Dales said, but a growl comes from Kacey, both of us look at her, shocked.
“I will NEVER let anyone choose my mate," she said, looking at us. "I am a lesbian and I hate men, I would rather have a cock than be with a man.”
She turns to me and glared.
“You have Izzy, we need to get you two together,” she said.
Dale smiled.
“By the way, what happened between you two when you found her in the forest?” he asked with a smirk on his face.
“We kissed, that’s all,” I said, rubbing the back of my neck.
I looked at them.
They both look at me, stunned.
“How was it?” Kacey asked, smiling.
“It was perfect," I said. "I have to take it slow though as she is still not fussed about having a mate.”
A growl from Axel explodes in my head which makes me look back at him. “She is our mate, she will accept us” he grunted.
I looked back at my friends.
“I wonder why she hates the idea of mates so much,” Dale blurts out. “It has to be more than our father rejecting her mother, surely.”
He has a point. The way she talks about it, it has to be something else.
“When are you going to see her next?” Kacey asked, pulling me from my thoughts.
I look at both of them and smiled.
“She said I should pop into the café to see her,” I said. “I’m going to go tomorrow.”
“Eager, aren’t we?” Kacey said, with a laugh.
I smiled as Kacey pats the bed next to her and I walked over to sit next to her.
All three of us chill out in Kacey’s room.
The thought about what will happen when Elder Johnson fades away as both Kacey and I are going to fight this even if it means I have to fight Alpha Drake to keep my pack.
I will defend my pack, my friends, and also my mate.
The next day, I arrived at the café early to see Izzy who was actually sitting with Kat in a booth.
They both looked like they were having a coffee before the morning rush started.
I opened the door and both of them looked at me.
Kat smiled and moved out of the booth before Izzy could say a word or even move.
I walked over and sat in front of her.
“Hey!” I said. “I thought I would come and have that coffee with you now.”
She blushed.
“You know I said in a few days which meant three days,” she said with a hint of a smile. “But I don’t mind you having a coffee with me.”
I smiled.
Izzy looks over to Kat who nods.
A few minutes later, Kat brings over my coffee and smiles at me before she leaves.
“So, what have you got planned for today?” she asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
I looked at her.
“Well, I was hoping I could sit here in the café and talk to you all day, but I know you are working so that would be out of the question," I said with a grin. "But I thought I would ask you if you wanted to go for a walk with me tomorrow. You can check out the sights, even come to the pack house to see where we live."
She stared at me, shocked but soon recovered.
“I… UH...” she said but she closes her eyes.
“Her panther is talking to her,” Axel said suddenly, “I can sense her.”
I watched her until she opens her eyes and sighed.
“It seems like Puna wants to spend time with you, and your wolf,” she said.
I feel hurt and pained by that sentence.
It must have shown on my face as her face softened.
“I didn’t mean for it to sound bitchy” she said.
She looked at me and sips her coffee.
When she puts the mug down, she looks at me again.
"I will go on a walk with you. I think we should get to know each other,” She said and smiles. “You never know we could find out each other’s secrets.”
The way she says that makes me wonder what secrets she has.
She gets up from the booth and I follow her, she stops suddenly taking a step forward, and then turns to me.
“I have to get back to work,” she said. “You can meet me at Kat’s tomorrow, say 11 am.”
“That will be great Izzy,” I said.
I take a step closer to her and lean into her, placing a kiss on her cheek.
She blushed.
The tingle of our mate bond is there and it’s driving me crazy that I can’t kiss her fully on the lips.
I don’t want to overstep.
She looks at me with wide eyes, her cheeks heated red but she smiled.
“I will see you then," she said as she walked into the back of the café.
I can hear Kat giggling behind me.
“You have to be patient with Blake, she is trying.” She said.
I look over my shoulder and smiled.
“I know, I will," I said. "I will see you in the morning.”
I walked out of the café with a huge grin on my face.
My mate was willing to go on a walk with me tomorrow.
Axel is happy too, seeing Izzy helped us calm down loads after what happened with Elder Johnson.
I know I will tell her about him but I need to win her trust first.
Then the hard part.
I just hope she is willing to accept me.
