Chapter 128
If it were anyone else, they'd probably be shaking in their boots, but Michael seemed blissfully unaware, maintaining his goofy grin.
"Baldrick, are you really going to stop Judson and Nancy from leaving? Didn't you see Nancy's head bleeding?"
Baldrick had only seen Judson putting Nancy into the car, missing the part where she was injured, and his voice trembled with panic. "What's happened to Nancy?"
"She almost died and was about to be stripped and filmed. Luckily, Judson got there just in time," Michael replied with nonchalance that belied the seriousness of the situation.
Baldrick's face went ashen, and as he came to his senses, he moved to get in the car, only to have his wrist grabbed.
"Let go!" Baldrick shouted, his voice filled with urgency.
Michael cut straight to the chase. "Judson's taking Nancy to the hospital. Are you sure you want to go there too, instead of dealing with this mess?"
Baldrick paused, instantly grasping the meaning behind Michael's words, and glanced toward the small wooden cabin engulfed in flames.
A cold determination flickered in Baldrick's eyes, and he clenched his fists tightly. "I understand."
"Make sure you handle it," Michael said, patting Baldrick's shoulder before striding away.
Only after Michael had left did Lenard and Potter drive up.
Lenard took one look at the burning cabin and was stunned. "Nancy and Hackett are still in there, right? That bastard Hackett dared to set fire. Nancy..."
Tears, large and heavy, spilled from Lenard's eyes.
Even Potter's face turned ghostly pale; he hadn't expected things to escalate this far.
Before Lenard and Potter could calm down, Baldrick turned to face them, his expression steely. "Nancy
was rescued by Judson. Michael ordered the fire. Mr. Potter, you should leave now."
Potter quickly realized the implications of Baldrick's words. Knowing he shouldn't be privy to the upcoming conversation, and reassured that Lena was safe, he drove off immediately.
Lenard breathed a sigh of relief. "As long as Nancy's safe, I don't know what I would've told the others..." His voice trailed off, tears welling up again.
Baldrick narrowed his eyes dangerously. "Lenard, I'm going to take down the Allen family!"
Hackett was dead, but Lucy and Albert were still alive. Baldrick wanted every member of the Allen family to pay the price!
Seeing Baldrick's murderous intent, Lenard's anger flared too. "Count me in. I have dirt on the Allen family!"
They'd been targeting Nancy for too long. They couldn't think they'd get away with it!
"Mr. Buchanan, Ms. Gonzalez is stable now. She's fainted due to blood loss, but with some rest, she'll recover."
Judson nodded tersely at the doctor's words. "You can go."
The doctor didn't hesitate, quickly exiting the room.
The large hospital room fell silent, leaving Judson alone with his thoughts.
He looked at Nancy, lying pale and fragile on the bed, and all he felt was a deep sense of regret.
He hadn't protected Nancy well enough. He'd let her get hurt again...
Nancy suddenly furrowed her brow in distress, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.
"Don't touch me... Get away from me... Go..."
"Go away!"
Seeing Nancy caught in the throes of a nightmare, Judson hurried onto the bed, wrapping his arms around her. "Nancy, I'm here."
Nancy's frantic movements gradually stilled as she felt Judson's warmth, and she murmured softly, "Judson?"
"It's me, Nancy. It's all over now. I'll stay with you," Judson whispered, holding her tight as if he could protect her by sheer will alone.
Nancy gave a barely perceptible nod, resting her head against Judson's chest and falling into a deep, exhausted sleep.
Judson watched Nancy sleep, his heart torn between tenderness and fury.
He vowed not to spare a single member of the Allen family.
The night passed unnoticed, and the first light of dawn crept into the room.
At the Allen family's estate, Lucy watched her father rush in, unable to contain her excitement.
"Father, have you heard from big brother? Did he manage to get that video of Lena?"
