The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming Chapter 1296

Chapter 1296

Blake wished she could feel as Grace suggested, but she knew she

could not. She could not stop loving Kevin, could not stop wanting to

be with him.

Blake recalled her quarrels with Kevin and her anger at him in the past, telling him to go as far away as possible and that she never wanted to see him again. Those all felt so hollow now.

She had given him her all, hoping to be by his side, even if it meant returning to her role as his insignificant assistant. What she once

loathed had become her most desperate wish.

‘Kevin, you promised me you’d return after three years, yet here I am,

feeling abandoned. If given the chance, I’d erase every quarrel, every

harsh word,’ Blake mused, her heart heavy with regret and yearning.

Grace expressed her concern, “Look at this. Ventropolis is not safe anymore. Be careful when you go out. I’m worried about Mya. I fear she might have gotten into trouble, possibly even abducted.”

Blake took Grace’s phone and saw a news report about a crackdown

on three illegal human trafficking rings in Ventropolis, including a raid

on entertainment venues connected to drug trafficking. Over a

hundred people were rescued, intended to be sold in Northern

Myanmar.

The victims’ photos, from adult men and women to children, showed

them being led from a truck, and captured while trying to cross the border. Eventually, they were stopped at the southern border, and the clues uncovered revealed that many people had been kidnapped and

were to be secretly taken to the northern Myanmar region.

The news also mentioned a girl abducted in broad daylight and found

dead with her organs removed. Another headline popped up about a

crime lord’s son from Northern Myanmar being arrested in a Silverbay

casino, hinting at chaos in the criminal world there. Blake did not

watch the linked video, feeling a growing unease.

‘Could the unrest be because of Kevin? What happened in Northern

Myanmar after I left?’ Blake pondered, her worry deepening.

Grace noticed Blake’s distraction and asked, “What’s wrong? What are you looking at?”

Blake handed back the phone to Grace and said, “Nothing. Just

surprised by the news.”

Grace worriedly added, “Yes, such incidents never occurred in

Ventropolis before, where people could be brazenly kidnapped in

broad daylight. The Turner family isn’t someone we can afford to

provoke. When you ask about Mya, you must also ensure your safety.

Your parents entrusted me to take good care of you, and they

wouldn’t want to return and find you in bad shape. That would leave

them devastated.”

Blake reassured her, “I’m fine, just dealing with some issues. I’ll

overcome them.”

To lighten the mood, Blake joined Liam and Simon in the living room

and asked, “Who won?”

Simon smiled proudly. “Liam, you played well. I look forward to more

games with you. You should visit us more often.”

Liam agreed with a smile, then addressed Blake, “Your uncle won.”

As the night grew late, they all prepared for bed. Before Grace and

Simon headed upstairs, they advised the younger couple, “You two

should get some rest as well.”

Blake responded, “Good night.”

Once Grace and Simon were upstairs, Blake suggested to Liam, “Let’s

go to bed.”

“Okay,” Liam agreed and followed Blake to her room.
