The Return

Theo/Gages POV

"Where's Izzy?" We ask us we sit down after getting our food. No one replies, only stares at us in dissapointment.

"Why are they looking at us like that?"

I ask Gage inside our head, confused with my family. We look around and notice everyone's here except for Izzy and Eric. Where did they go? We think to ourselves.

"Hey Theo." We hear someone say next to us. We turn our head and face Emma. We met her in second period and we must say that she is a very sweet girl. Again, we struggled with another subject and she offered to help.

People are so nice in this school.

"Are you really dating her Theo?" We hear Callie ask us from across the table. Our head snaps over in her direction, with our eyes bugging out in shock. We go to deny it but Emma has us out of our seat before we can. She drags us quickly out the cafeteria, into the hallway. We pull our hand from her grasp and stop walking. She turns to face us and crosses her arms over her chest.

"We're dating-"

"Last time I checked, no we weren't." We sneer at her, completely livid at her statement. She groans and rolls her eyes in exasperation.

"No you idiot, I mean we're dating so you can get Izzy!" She yells at us, like we were supposed to know what she meant.

"What?" We say stupidly, which therefore makes her hit her head on the lockers next to us.

"Okay I'm going to explain this very slowly. When you and Izzy came here this morning I could already see that you liked her. Problem is that she's oblivious, and is to scared to see it. We both know she is, don't deny it. So, the plan is simple. We'll pretend to date, making her realise that she lost you. She'll become jealous and she'll try to get you back. Simple. Oh and I have to be a jerk to her." She says as if it's the simplest thing in the world.

"Wait. Izzy would never do that. First of all, she has a mate out there, and I'm pretty sure that she won't leave him for me. Secondly, what makes you think she'd want me? Thirdly, what makes you think that by just me dating someone else, she'd become confident? Fourthly, why the hell do you need to be a jerk to her?" The last point we may have shouted at her for but she deserves it.

"Do I need to come up with everything?" She says and rubs her temples. Dramatic much? We glare at her and nod.

"Why?" She whines, stomping her foot like a toddler.

"Because it's your ridiculous idea. So you come up with everything."

"So you're in?"

"...Fine."

She claps her hands in excitement and bounces up and down. She grabs our arm again and pulls us to the cafeteria again. We enter quickly and sit down by the table with everyone else. We see Eric and Izzy have returned, and were sitting next too each other. Emma expects Izzy to be jealous, but it's us, who's the jealous ones. Just the way that she's sitting so close to Eric, as if he can save her at any moment. That's supposed to be us. Not him!

"Hey Izzy." We greet her, wanting her beautiful eyes to be on us. She waves her hands shyly over at us but doesn't look over. We frown sadly in our head, feeling the sting of rejection from that small act. Emma's plan is never gonna work. She doesn't even like us. She only thinks of us as the guy who saved her.

"You still didn't answer my question Theo." Callie says abruptly, making us look over at her. She's now glaring at us, getting frustrated that we won't answer. We look over at Emma but she only nods her head in encouragement.

"Theo, I don't think that this is a good idea." Gage says nervously inside our head while starring at everyone.

"I don't like it either but it's worth a shot? I don't know how relationships work Gage. None of us do."

He sighs internally but agrees and faces Callie. She's still glaring over at us, making us feel very uncomfortable. You'd think after dealing with everything in our lives so far, that a glare from our little sister, wouldn't scare us.

"Yes, we're dating." We say quickly, just like ripping a bandage off. We look at Izzy from the corners of our eyes, to see if there's any reaction, but we don't see one. There's nothing. Of course there's nothing, why did we ever think this would work? She feels nothing for us and never will. It was a stupid plan.

"You work quick." We hear her utter. We look at her and are met with a pair of neutral eyes. A normal person wouldn't have noticed the slight bitterness in her voice, but we certainly did. And that slight bitterness just gave us a sliver of hope.

No one says anything important afterwards, just talking about homework or other things. Lunch ends soon afterwards and we're off to our next period. We're happy to know that Izzy's in this class with us.

We try to talk to her as we walk down the hallway but she ignores us the whole way. We admit, doing this, only to make her jealous, makes us feel like real jerks. Why are we even trying if she does have mate? We just can't seem to leave her alone. We feel connected to her, and we can't turn it off.

We walk into the class but the teacher makes the both of us stand at the front of the class. We stand perfectly fine but when we look over at Izzy, we can see her shifting uncomfortably.

"Calm down, it's going to be okay." We whisper in her ear, trying to help. Her breath hitches but immediately calms down. She takes deep breaths and begins to stop shifting. The teacher then orders us to introduce and add an interesting fact about ourselves.

"My names Theo Black. I love sunlight." We're not lying about that. After not having the heat of the suns rays and the light of it across our skin for long periods of time, that became the most precious thing to us. We still cannot sleep in the dark. It always brings back the worst memories of our lives.

"M-My n-names I-Izzy. I-I like-"

"She likes reading, classic movies and animals." We hear someone utter from the doorway.

"Ah that must be the other new student."

We recognize that voice. We turn over and immediately see red.

"What the hell is he doing here!" I scream inside our head as we stare at the biggest jerk I've ever met.

"B-Beau?"

Well this just got more interesting.
