The Return

Chapter 14

Theo/Gage's POV

"So you guys ready for today?" Callie asks us as we all sit down at the table and eat our breakfast. We look over at our sister then to Izzy. She looks at us and only shrugs, not feeling the need to reply. Since she came here, she's not been much of a talker. The only person she could hold a conversation over an hour with is Mother. We completely understand, she knew Mother way before she knew us. It still would be nice if she could try to speak to us. Ugh, we're doing it again, going all sappy, wanting her to notice us and accept us, then reject her mate.

As if.

Gage I both know that she'd never leave her mate for us, especially if she knew what a monster we were. The both of us just need to learn that this isn't a fairytale where they live happily ever after, its real life, and in real life there's many dissapointments.

"I guess I'm excited for it." We say nonchalantly, while in actual fact I'm smiling from ear to ear inside our head. Gage? Not so much. We continue to eat our breakfast in silence, discussing a few things here and there. Once everyone's finished with their food we grab our bags and head for the garage.

"You want to drive Theo?" We hear Callie asks us as she grabs a set of keys off the key rack. She tosses it over to us and we catch it. We gulp and look up at her, not wanting to tell her that we've never learnt. Silly thing to be embarrassed about but we can't help it. Knowing that our little sister can do much more than us, in a normal life that is, hurts our pride. It's a natural thing to feel, not like other people have never wanted their pride to be damaged.

"Can I drive?" We hear Izzy ask from behind Callie. We turn to face her but her head is down, not making eye contact. She looks up, meeting our gaze and immediately drops them.

"Sure you can Izzy. You don't mind, right bro?" Callie says with a megawatt smile, probably because Izzy's finally asking for something. Ever since she came here, she would never ask for anything. Heck she almost went hungry because no one offered her some food. They just assumed she'd ask then get some for herself.

We smile and walk over to her tense form. She continues to stare down at her feet, not wanting to meet our gaze. We take her soft hand in ours and open her palm for her. She doesn't say or do anything so we know that this is alright for her. We place the keys in her palm and close her hand with ours. She looks up at us and finally meets our gaze. Her eyes are so beautiful and wise but you can still see the pain behind them.

We continue to stand there for however long we did until Callie cleared her throat. Doing that must have caused Izzy to come out of a daze because she suddenly flinched away, as if she had touched fire. It hurt us but we still knew why she reacted this way. We had no right to blame her for it, she could not control what had happended in her old pack.

"Come on you two. We're going to be late." Callie says climbing into the backseat. We clear our throat and let Izzy move past us. She tries not to make any contact and it works. We slide into the car and she turns the ignition on. Slowly easing out of the garage we begin our journey to school.

Well that journey was short lived.

Not even ten minutes went by before we pulled up to the school parking lot. It was a very old school from what we've heard of but it was also one of the best. Climbing out of the car we scanned the whole area. It seemed we'd drawn attention to ourselves somehow because everyone was starring over at us. We looked over at Callie, who only smirked, shrugged her bag over her shoulder and lead us towards the office.

"Why's everyone starring at us?" Izzy asks softly as we walk up the stairs and enter the huge building. We walked down the packed halls but even then people stared. As we approached the office Callie slowed down then turned towards us.

"Well here our family rules this school. No one hangs with us unless they're family. You two are but no one knows that, so they find it odd. So, I have to get to class now, you two think you can get around without my help?" We tell her we'll be fine and that she doesn't need to worry. She smiles then walks off leaving us and Izzy alone in the empty hallway. She looks us then walks past us, inside the office. We first have to sit through a boring introduction with the principle then finally we receive our schedules. We walk out the office and look at what the both of us have for first period.

"Math."

"Science."

Damn, not in the same first period. Hopefully we could be together in some classes, but that's a 50/50 chance. We begin our descent down the hallway, in search for our first periods, which we're already late for. We come across Izzy's classroom first and from the sounds inside, her teacher is very mad.

"Goodluck." We wish her and wait till she enters the room. Once we know she's fine and sorted, we go off in search of our own classroom. It takes a while and the janitors help to find it. We take a deep breath before knocking on the door. We wait until we hear a 'come in' and once we do we step inside the science class. We look around us and notice everyone's attention on us. We ignore it and stride over to the teacher, who seems quite young to be one.

"You must be the new student. I'm Mrs. Kavench, and you are?" She asks me after I hand her my late slip. I groan inside our head, not wanting to have to speak about myself in front of the whole class. We clear our throat and turn to face them. We don't speak and only stare at them but when we turn back to the face of our teacher, the smile she wears urges us to speak.

"I'm Theo Black." That's all we say, nothing more, nothing less. Everyone gasps as they hear our last name and begin to whisper about us, as if we're not even here. The teacher welcomes us again and tells us to sit in the only open seat left. As we sit down we notice that the two girls next to us are starring intensely in our direction.

"So you're a Black? That's so amazing. Plus you're really cute." Girl number one says to us as she leans over, showing off her chest. We grimace as the other one tries the exact same thing but they are both interrupted by a loud snort.

"If you two are going to act like sluts, try and do a better job." The person from behind me snorts. We turn around and face blonde curly hair and a pair of stormy grey eyes. He smiles over at us and sticks his hand out for us to shake. We smile and shake his hand, not even noticing that the two girls pulled back and were glaring at him.

"Eric's the name and pissing people off is my game." He smirks and discreetly looks over at the two glaring girls. The period goes by quickly and it helps that my new friend, Eric, is excellent in the subject. After being away from school for so long I couldn't even keep up with the work. I had trouble understanding some of the stuff but Eric helped me out. Thank the Lord for Eric.

Looks like my first day is going well.
