The Reclaimed Rose (Annalise and Steven)

Chloe said disdainfully, "Annalise's father didn't pass away. Instead, he saw through Annalise and her mother's true colors. He realized how terrible their characters were, and every day spent with them was torture for him. That's why he abandoned them."

When I heard Chloe's words, I immediately put my phone down and stormed toward the entrance. I couldn't believe how Chloe began to spread such groundless rumors about me.

Meanwhile, Zane neither acknowledged nor dismissed Chloe's statements. He said calmly, "Go on." Chloe continued, "Her mother is like a parasite. When Annalise first married my son, she didn't have a job and was just a housewife. She always asked my son for money to give to her mother."

Then, Chloe sneered and added, "Honestly, how do women like that even exist? Doesn't she know how hard it is to make a living?"

Chloe felt bad for Steven. When I got outside, I caught the tail end of Chloe's statement. Then, I spat, "Are you saying that I was living off your son's money?"

"Of course! If not that, then what?" Chloe replied confidently.

I couldn't help but laugh at how certain Chloe sounded. I said, "Why don't you call your son over? We can

go over every expense together to see how much of his money I spent!"

"You brought this on yourself!" Chloe declared smugly.

Chloe believed that since Steven's annual income was high, Annalise must have been living a life of luxury even if Steven had only given her a small allowance.

Initially, Chloe had been worried that Zane might not believe her claims. But now that Annalise had shown up and demanded proof, she felt bold. She thought that if Steven came and exposed Annalise with her expenses, Zane would finally know how reckless Annalise was with money!

Chloe tried to continue her glee as she gazed mockingly at Annalise. She was certain no man would like a woman who only cared about spending and Zane would be no exception. After today, he would gradually distance himself from Annalise and eventually break up with her.

The thought of attaining her goals made Chloe smirk.

Chloe wasn't in a hurry to call Steven. Instead, she said proudly, "When my son gets here, he'll expose your true colors, you gold-digger!"

"I'm waiting," I said calmly.

Chloe continued, "My son is very generous. He gifted Jessica jewelry, and even the cheapest set cost over a few million dollars. You're his wife, so..."

I frowned and interrupted Chloe. I said, "We're divorced. You can call me his ex-wife."

Chloe didn't understand why

Annalise was making a fuss about the title. She silently grumbled about how fussy Annalise was, but she didn't say anything about it.

She replied, "You used to be Steven's wife. Even if he didn't splurge on you, he must have treated you fairly."

"If you're going to summon him, why waste time with all this talk? Just call him," I said, not wanting to waste more time listening to Chloe blabber on.

Chloe froze. Ever since she forced Steven to get a vasectomy, he had blocked her number. Even if Chloe

wanted to summon Steven, she must first find a way to contact him.

Chloe tried to think of a solution for a while. After a pause, she shamelessly asked Zane, "Can I borrow your phone?"
