The Reckoning of Love Chapter 45
Chapter 45 Sophia’s Instagram
The hospital ward in the intensive care unit was extremely spacious, and there was even a couch by the window.
Nestling comfortably on the couch, Joseph focused on finishing some of the documents that he had not time to handle during the day.
An unending downpour of autumn rain pelted down outside the window.
Vivian left after a short while.
Likewise, Jean tactfully retreated from the room.
Only Joseph and Louise remained in the hospital ward.
Joseph, you can go home if you’re bored. I’ll be fine, Louise offered considerately.
“It’s fine. You should get some rest.” He didn’t even bother to raise his head and reflexively tapped on Sophia’s WhatsApp chat after he finished his work.
In the past, Sophia would always ask him about his flight before the plane took off and after the plane landed if she was not traveling with him, but not this time.
A vague sense of bitterness filled his heart.
Then, he clicked on her Instagram.
Her profile picture on Instagram was a fluffy little kitten.
He had never seen the kitten before. Since when did she have a cat?
Scrolling further down her Instagram feed, he came across her latest post. It was posted only three hours
ago.
The picture was taken in Edgeminster, showing a street covered in autumn colors and a cat rolling in fallen leaves. The caption was ‘A happy little kitten.
Almost everybody in the president’s office had posted a reply beneath her post.
Hugs. I miss you, Miss Yancey!
Sophia answered with an adorable hug emoji.
Joseph did not know what to feel about her response.
Um. Um… I want to see a selfie from the beautiful lady herself!
She replied, ‘Check your inbox!
Joseph’s expression darkened at the words. Has Sophia ever sent me a selfie before? Never
He continued scrolling down the comments.
Another person commented, “May I be reincarnated as your kitten in my next life, Miss Yancey!
She responded with a cat sticker
After reading through the comments. Joseph pressed the ‘like’ button on her pint
Then, he exited the comments section and continued rolling down her Instagram feed.
She rarely posted on her Instagram
The next picture was posted three months ago. It was a picture of a small cake with the caption ‘Another year older
He subconsciously frowned at the picture. Although he vaguely recalled that her birthday was in August, he could not quite recall the exact date of her birthday
Nevertheless, he would always write her a check and instruct her to buy something she liked for herself
every year.
He did not know whether it was because the cake was too small and shabby or something else was bothering him, but he couldn’t help feeling a little annoyed for some inexplicable reason.
The next post was posted at the end of April.
It was a carousel post of nine images, consisting of the grey and gloomy sky, a small shop, bluestone steps, some rose bushes in full bloom, a small alley, a small bench, a pair of intertwined hands, and a vintage looking photo.
The second last picture depicting a pair of intertwined hands contained an aged and withered hand holding a younger-looking hand. It was most likely a picture of her and her grandmother holding hands.
As for the old photo, there were two elderly people in the photo along with a woman who looked similar to Sophia. There was also a little girl with an indescribably cute smile. She was wearing a floral dress, and her hair was tied into two braids.
It was probably a family portrait. The caption wrote I miss you.”
Joseph frowned when he read the caption. At this time of the year. She probably went home to visit her grandmother. So, was she feeling down because she had to leave her grandmother and return to Cleyrora?
He clicked on the comments section
The members of the president’s office would leave comments and liked every post that Sophia made on Instagram. However, not a single one of them commented on this particular post for some reason.
Just as a vague thought was about to form in his mind, he suddenly heard a soft groan coming from
Louise’s direction
Joseph looked over and saw that Louise had gotten up from the hospital bed
“What is it?” He put his phone away.
