The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

But who would’ve thought that this jerk would suddenly bite my tongue fiercely?

Intense pain spread from the tip of my tongue throughout my whole body. I cried out in pain, covering my mouth with my hands and rolling to the edge of the bed.

Gordon seized the opportunity and pulled the cotton blanket away from underneath me. He quickly wrapped it around himself. At the same time, I heard his laughter in the darkness.

“Taylor, scream louder. My parents will be happy to hear that.”

“You pervert! You bastard, you jerk! You… Realizing that he was just teasing me, and his real goal was to steal the blanket, I couldn’t help but scold him angrily.

“This is the consequence of provoking me,” Gordon exclaimed in a rather triumphant tone. He wrapped himself in the blanket, turned his back to me, and went to sleep without a care.

I was used to setting the air conditioner to the lowest temperature when I slept, whether it was winter or summer, and then covering myself with a thick cotton blanket.

Now, I was wearing thin pajamas, and the air conditioning in the room was cold enough to make me

shiver.

They said men were gentle with women, but Gordon slept soundly, wrapped in the blanket. He was

snoring evenly in no time.

I wasn’t someone he cared about. He probably wouldn’t feel sorry for me even if I got a cold, or even froze to death. 2

I subconsciously hugged myself, shivering with cold, and couldn’t help but recall my struggle in the vast

ocean in my previous life. That biting chill pierced my bone.

How could I have been teased to the point of almost losing my mind by such a cold and heartless man

I blamed myself for being useless,

In the future, I must find a few young and handsome men to flirt with and experience dating. By getting more familiar with men’s tricks and trying kissing a few times, I wouldn’t have been so flustered like this.

Standing in the icy air conditioning, I felt helpless and blamed myself. Looking at Gordon’s back, I felt angry for some reason. I didn’t want to go back to sleep on the bed anymore.

I groped my way to the couch in the dark, hugging a pillow, and fell asleep in a daze despite the chill.

The next day, when I opened my eyes again, I found myself warm and cozy. Someone had covered me with a cotton blanket. The bed was now empty.

Could it be him?

Probably not. He never cared about me, did he?

I Instinctively glanced at my phone. Clearly, at this time of day, Gordon had already left for work.

I went downstairs, and Bailey brought me the breakfast that had been prepared for me. He also handed me some traditional medicine packets, saying, “Mr. and Mrs. Holmes had to leave for an emergency,

madam

“This medicine was specially prepared by Mrs. Holmes to help you regulate your body. She told me to remind you to take it.”

“Is this another pregnancy remedy?” I asked, looking at the medicine packets.

“Yes. Mrs. Holmes said this medicine was hard to come by, and she had to wait in line for a long time to get it. Madam, please keep it up. Once you’re pregnant, everything will be fine.”

Although Bailey was sent by Hazel and Hank to take care of us, he had always been kind to me since I

arrived.

He knew I had tried various remedies for pregnancy over the past two years and had suffered a lot. So, he

tried to console me.

“Alright then, I’ll take the medicine to my parents‘ house later.”

Now that Hazel and Hank had left, I saw no need to continue pretending to be affectionate with Gordon. After finishing breakfast, I would pack a few clothes and leave.

“Madam, are you going back to your parents‘ house again?” Balley asked in surprise, his eyes showing a hint of worry.

He had always been observant, probably noticing the changes in me even earlier than Gordon did.

“Yes. I’m going to work soon, and it’s more convenient to stay at my parents‘ place. Please take care of

the house.”

I nodded, finished my breakfast quickly, and went upstairs to pack a few clothes.

As I was about to drive away, Bailey hurriedly handed me the medicine I had purposely left behind. He

placed it on the passenger seat.

I said goodbye to him and stepped on the gas pedal, leaving Hovilham Residence. When the car reached the corner, I glanced back at the medicine packets.

After a moment of thought, I picked them up and tossed them into a nearby trash can.

No more being a worthless and unappreciated ‘baby–making machine“. I wouldn’t let these strange medicines cause me to suffer from stomach cancer or other diseases.

I shook my head with a bitter smile, drove back to my parents‘ house, and spent the day practicing the

piano.

The day of the Holmes Group’s annual banquet was approaching. This also meant that the moment when Gordon and Sabrina would meet was near.

Starting anew in this life, many things changed because I knew about them in advance. But I wasn’t sure if

I could change the trajectory of Gordon and Sabrina’s encounter.

It was said that those destined to meet will eventually meet. If she was his true soulmate, perhaps no matter how much I tried to stop them, they would still fall in love. [1

hinking about this, my already cold heart grew even colder.

What was Sabrina doing at this time? She should be off work and helping out at her mother’s flower shop.

Driven by curiosity, I drove to the flower shop Luke had mentioned.

The flower shop’s name was artistic and romantic–Encounter

It was located in a commercial district less than 500 yards away from Holmes Group. The shop wasn’t big, probably around 300 square feet in size.

Its decoration was average, but it won out with shelves full of flowers inside and various potted plants. outside. This made it look vibrant and full of artistic charm.

As I stepped into the flower shop, I saw a woman in her 40s wearing a floral skirt, busy trimming fresh flowers.

Her eyebrows and features bore some resemblance to Sabrina and Luke, so she must be their mother, Freya Baker

Hearing the sound at the door, Freya enthusiastically came over to greet me. “Hello, miss. Are you here to buy flowers?”

“You’re busy, aren’t you? I’ll just have a look around first.”

I surveyed the small flower shop, noticing that although it was small, it was elegantly decorated.

The flower shelves were not only adorned with flowers but also with small, artistic decorations. The small

blackboard in the shop was inscribed with artistic calligraphy.

I guessed that this must have been written by Sabrina with a chalk pen.

200

As I quietly observed the surroundings, a small ornament near the blackboard caught my attention.

It was a small plaster sculpture depicting a 15 or 16–year–old boy holding the hand of a girl around the age

of six or seven, standing on what appeared to be muddy ground.

I had seen this sculpture on Gordon’s office desk in my previous life.

At the time, I had picked it up out of curiosity. But Gordon immediately snatched it from my hands and loudly scolded me, blaming me for touching his things carelessly.

It turned out that this plaster sculpture was a gift from Sabrina. No wonder it held more value in Gordon’s eyes than other priceless antiques.

As I thought about this, a bitter smile crept onto my face. Subconsciously, I reached out to take the plaster sculpture, but before I could touch it, a clear and sweet voice came from the door.

“Miss, I’m sorry, but that item isn’t for sale.”

I quickly withdrew my hand and turned around to see Sabrina standing at the door with a handsome young man who was about half a head taller than her.

Sabrina was still wearing the same professional attire I had seen her in on the Holmes Group building’s seventh floor. Meanwhile, the young man wore a Polo shirt and black pants.

Both of them exuded a freshness often seen in those who had just entered society and seemed to be quite well–matched.

It seemed like this young man was Sabrina’s soon–to–be fiancé, whom Luke had mentioned.

As expected, Sabrina had indeed come here after work.
