Chapter 9

Lyra felt her heart racing as she heard knocks on the door. She knew who it was; it was her mate, Alpha Lucian. She quickly looked around her

room, trying to figure out a way to hide her friend Aiden. She was taken aback by her own resourcefulness when an idea suddenly came to her. She quickly grabbed Aiden by his arm and shoved him inside her closet before rushing to the door.

Lyra opened the door, trying to act as natural as possible. Alpha Lucian stood on the other side, his eyes narrowed in suspicion.

“What is it, Lucian?” She asked, her voice slightly trembling.

“I was just in the area and thought I’d drop by,” he said, his eyes glancing around the room. Lyra held her breath, hoping he wouldn’t find Aiden.

“Have you seen anyone else around here lately?” He asked, his voice low and menacing.

“No,” Lyra said, her voice barely above a whisper. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, her palms becoming increasingly sweaty.

Alpha Lucian stepped inside the room and began to sniff the air. He seemed to be searching for something, but Lyra had no idea what. She could feel herself growing increasingly nervous and she prayed that Aiden was staying quiet in the closet.

Alpha Lucian kept sniffing, his eyes searching every corner of the room. He seemed to be getting closer and closer to the closet. Lyra felt her stomach twist in knots as she waited for him to find Aiden.

Suddenly, Alpha Lucian stopped and looked the closet. Lyra’s heart skipped a beat as she held her breath.

“What is that?” He said, his voice full of suspicion. Lyra didn’t answer, hoping he would just forget about it and leave.

Slowly, Alpha Lucian walked to the closet and opened it. He looked inside. and saw nothing. He seemed to be satisfied and he closed the closet, not even bothering to look further.

Lyra let out a sigh of relief as Alpha Lucian finally left the room. She waited for a few moments, her heart still pounding in her chest. When she was sure he was gone, she opened the closet and saw Aiden trembling inside.

“It’s ok,” she said, trying to reassure him. “He’s

gone now.”

Aiden slowly stepped out of the closet, his eyes wide with fear. Lyra smiled and put her arm around him.

“It’s ok,” she said again, her voice gentle and comforting. “Everything’s ok

now.”

Aiden nodded and smiled, feeling relieved to be out of the closet. Lyra smiled back, happy that her quick thinking had saved them both.

“Thank goodness he’s gone” Aiden said to her as he leaned in to k*ss her. “I’ll see you later” he k*ssed her on her forehead too and walked over to the door.

Lyra, the alpha’s bride, quickly reached for the door and locked it. She knew that if anyone found out about their relationship, she could be in serious trouble. She had to act as if nothing had happened.

Aiden gave her a long, lingering k*ss before he left. Lyra watched him walk away with a heavy heart. She wanted to run after him and tell him how much she loved him, but she stayed rooted to the spot, knowing that if she did, she would be putting them both in danger.

With a sigh, Lyra turned away from the door. She had been wearing a pillow in her clothes to make it look like she was pregnant. She had d this to fool everyone into thinking she was going to have a baby, so t her marriage to the alpha would be seen as legitimate. But the pillow been itching her all day and she wanted to take it off.

Lyra quickly pulled the pillow out of her clothes and threw it onto the b She breathed a sigh of relief as the itching stopped. Then, exhausted from the day’s events, she crawled into bed and fell into a deep sleep.

secret and she was determined to keep it that way. She was in love with Aiden, but she was also the alpha’s bride, and she had to make sure that her love for him never interfered with her duty to her husband.

Lyra knew that she had made the right decision by keeping her

relationship with Aiden a secret. Now, she just had to stay strong and make sure that nob*dy ever found out.

The alpha king, Lucian who was known for strength and power, knocked again on Lyra’s door. He had been away on a hunt for far too long and longed to see her. He had been told that she wasn’t feeling well because she was pregnant and wanted to ensure she was being taken care of.

“Lyra, my love, please open the door and let me in,” he begged.

He heard the sound of shuffling coming from the other side of the door, but still no answer.

“Please Lyra, I need to see you,” he said again, this time pounding on the door with more urgency.

Suddenly, the door opened and there stood Lyra, her face pale and her. hair disheveled. She looked at him, her eyes hard and cold.

“What do you want?” she said, her voice gruff and unwelcoming.

The alpha king was taken aback. He had been expecting a warm welcome, not this coldness. “I wanted to see for myself that you are doing well,” he

said.

“I’m fine, thank you,” Lyra said, her voice still icy. “But I’m afraid I cann let you in. My pregnancy will not allow me to receive visitors, and I wis be left alone.”

The alpha king was stunned. He had not been aware that Lyra was that emotional But before he could ask her any questions, Lyra had already

He stood there, confused and hurt. What was going on? Was Lyra really

He noticed that her stomach was still the same and he wondered why?
