The Primordials: Death's Fury (Book One)

Chapter Prologue

Today marks July 18, 3045. If you’re listening to or reading this, then I’ve done something right by somehow getting my family to finally listen to me. Either that or the nightmare I had when I was younger came to pass... Anyways, the purpose of this is for you to know what I went through... or am going through? The time thing’s a little confusing. What I’m saying is since you’re either my successor, descendant, or some random soul who happened to find this mental recording – in which case, I’m sorry – now you know some truth about the world you live in and how events in my complicated life nearly destroyed it. Twice. The events I speak about will be your history, most likely unknown and inconceivable to most. Regardless, it’s the truth. My truth. Now, how should I start? Let’s see... So, legends have it that six God-like individuals existed many millennia ago, each wielding power derived from an aspect of human existence; Lust, Life, Fury, Death, Pride, and Joy. These individuals became known as The Primordials. No one knows their true origin; some believe an even higher power placed them here to guide and influence humans, while others think they’re the first examples of the next step in human evolution. It’s said they have a life span of about 1,000 years; at the end of each life span, they die and reincarnate but don’t fully mature for 17 or 18 years. Well, it’s been 200 years since the previous generation of Primordials died, but only five have been found since then, and I’ve also discovered the legends were wrong. There weren’t just six Primordials; there were eight. Somehow, the Primordials, Greed and Despair, have gone unnoticed for over three millennia without being reincarnated. Eventually, they were forgotten and written out of history, and in the past 200 years have somehow created an imbalance in the natural law. I also discovered they were the culprits who revealed the secrets of manipulating spirit energy to humans, bringing about the current Age of Conversion. Now, humans born two centuries ago are still alive and have only now begun to age, leaving me to think it has something to do with Death’s absence. Since I’m the daughter (Alissia Heart here) of the current active family of Watchers – humans who were meant to be taught the techniques of the gods – whose duty is to find and guide the new generation of Primordials, it’s my mission to find Death, uncover the identities of Greed and Despair, and undo whatever they’ve done to upset the natural balance. Piece of cake, right? That’s definitely something a 19-year-old with limited resources can do...right?
