Chapter 63
Chapter 63
Julian Ranford turned around and saw the side profile of a girl smiling evilly in the audience.
He cast aside Marco Ranford’s phone, saying to Carson Walters, “Carson, go up and present the prize. It’s an emergency
Before Carson could respond, Julian hurriedly left his seat, and Marco followed him.
Carson was puzzled.
He tidied his suit, got up, and strode toward the stage.
“CEO, what’s wrong? What happened? What happened to Mrs.. Ranford?”
Panting, Marco followed Julian out of the hall and backstage.
Julian’s had a dark expression and didn’t say a word.
His heart was beating fast.
He prayed that nothing happened to Alxandra Doherty.
He recalled seeing Martha Connolly walk out of the hall before the performances ended.
He walked along, the corridor according to his memory.
He looked around and saw the storage room.
He grabbed the door handle but realized that the door could not be opened.
Julian slammed the door twice. “Alexandra Doherty, are you there?”
There was no response.
Marco was confused.
Julian took two steps back and kicked the door of the storage room with great force, causing it to burst open.
Oh my god!
The CEO had destroyed public property at the University of Highclere!
It was shocking.
Marco thought he had to cut off the surveillance camera later!
It was after dusk, so it was very dark in the storage room.
Julian walked in and Marco quickly switched on the lights.
There were many miscellaneous items in the storage room. All of the props and tables and chairs were placed haphazardly.
“Alexandra Doherty?”
Julian called out as he entered.
After walking around the corner of a pile of tables and chairs, he saw William’s magic props and a crystal glass bed covered in a red cloth.
He walked over quickly and pulled off the red cloth covering it.
Julian’s heart almost broke when he saw Alexandra lying inside.
That was the first time he had experienced this feeling.
Under the glass lid, Alexandra’s forehead was covered in sweat, and the hair around her forehead was drenched.
Her face was pále. It was as if she had lost a lot of blood.
Her entire body was twitching and trembling.
Julian immediately grabbed the outer handle of the glass lid and lifted it. Then he helped Alexandra up
Her entire body was trembling, and the back of her dress was drenched in a cold sweat.
It was hard to tell if the streaks on her face were due to tears or sweat. The color of her lips and cheeks was abnormal as well.
“Alexandra Doherty, how are you?”
Alexandra felt weak all over. If Julian hadn’t supported her shoulders with both hands, she would fell.
Hearing someone talking to her, Alexandra struggled to open her eyes.
However, she could not see the face of the person in front of her.
Chapter 63
Her throat was parched.
She finally opened her eyes and saw that the person in front of her was Julian.
But he was different from the Julian she knew.
She saw that Julian’s face and white shirt were covered in crimson red blood, making her heart ache.
He seemed to be younger and more fragile than the Julian she knew.
In a daze, she felt an inexplicable heartache.
Seeing the blood on his body and face, she felt terrible.
She said weakly. “There’s so much blood. It hurts, right?”
She wanted to reach out and touch his face, to wipe the blood from his face, but she didn’t have any extra strength.
However, the moment she said that…
Realization hit Julian like a truck.
“That’s a lot of blood. It hurts, doesn’t it?”
That was the first thing Yoya had said to him back then when he was cornered and being hunted.
Before he could recover from his shock, his shoulders suddenly felt heavy.
Alexandra fainted and fell into his arms.
Julian was extremely flustered. He immediately took off his coat and wrapped it around her.
He carried her. His hands were trembling, and her entire body was cold.
Then with an ice–cold voice, he spoke, “Marco Ranford, we’re going to the hospital!”
“Yes, CEO!”
Marco, who was already scared out of his wits, hurriedly nodded and immediately turned around to lead the way.
The car sped on the road. Julian had placed Alexandra in the back seat of the car.
She was unconscious, but she was still frowning in her sleep.
She had also been sweating profusely.
Julian hugged her and let her lean into his arms. His shirt was already drenched in her sweat
However, he did not notice it at all.
He hugged her tightly, feeling how weak and helpless she was in his arms.
If only he had found out earlier that she had disappeared.
This way, she wouldn’t be in so much pain.
How afraid she must have been to be locked up in a dark place all alone.
Regret, self–blame, doubt. He felt all sorts of complicated emotions.
Marco could tell Julian’s anxiety and worry in the rearview mirror. Marco was also very concerned about Alexandra’s safety.
Soon, they arrived at Mount Victoria Hospital.
Alexandra was handed over to the emergency physician on duty with the best medical skills and pushed into the emergency room.
Julian stood outside of the emergency room and did not notice that he was already sweating profusely.
Alarmed, Marco walked over and handed Julian’s jacket to him. “CEO, don’t catch a cold. Put on your jacket.”
Julian did not respond. Instead, he continued to stand in the cold.
He could hear his own heartbeat, which had not yet calmed.
His mind was filled with the scene of Alexandra lying in the box, trembling in fear, and her inexplicable words.
At this moment, Marco was also extremely regretful. If he had seen his phone earlier, he would not have let the Mrs.. Ranford suffer for a few more
minutes.
Marco said, “Mr. Walters called just now and said that the gala had ended successfully. He didn’t ask about anything else.”
A cold and tired voice sounded. “Has the storage room been isolated?”
Julian, who regained his rationality, had spoken.
Chapter 63
Marco said, “CEO, I’ve already arranged it in advance. The props are controlled by our men, and the surveillance cameras have already been checked. We didn’t inform Mr. McFadden and Mr. Waltersn in consideration of the impact the incident would have. We’ll manage somehow when Mr. McFadden
asks.”
“Okay” Julian closed his eyes and placed his hands on the window sill. He sighed heavily.
“CEO, don’t worry. Mrs., Ranford will be fine. I think she’s just frightened. She’ll be fine soon.”
“Yeah.”
Half an hour later, Alexandra was transferred to a single ward.
She was still unconscious, and her face was still pale. She was still put on an IV.
Meanwhile, Julian was inquiring the doctor about Alexandra’s condition outside the ward.
The test report showed Alexandra’s condition. “The patient inhaled a small dosage of concentrated sleeping drugs in her nasal cavity. That’s why she fainted for a short period. She will wake up after the drug wears off.”
“Okay.” Julian did not say much. He would investigate the incident himself anyway.
The doctor glanced at the report and continued, “In addition, the patient’s brain waves seem to be abnormal. She was traumatized. That’s why she was breaking out in a cold sweat and had a low fever. It’s a little strange. We can wait for the patient to wake up so we get more details for further
tests.
The doctor’s words made Julian a little worried and confused. He nodded.
After the doctor left, Marco said, “CEfinitely find out who drugged Mrs… Ranford! Could it be William Jolston? Is he coveting Mrs… Ranford? He’s too sinister! If we hadn’t found Mrs.. Ranford, I don’t know what would have happened to her!”
