Chapter 47
Chapter 47
It was just a bowl of tomato soup with eggs that she had made herself.
Josephine said, “Then hurry up and eat it while it’s still hot”
Surprisingly, Josephine wasn’t angry. Alexandra was flattered and quickly thanked her. “Thank you, Grams!”
As soon as she sat down, she saw Josephine going to get a glass of water. She placed the pills she brought down on the dining table.
Alexandra looked at the pills in the box and asked, “Grams, are you feeling unwell?”
Josephine came back with hot water. “I’m fine. My stomach hurts in the middle of the night. It’s an old problem. I’ll be fine after taking some
medicine.”
Alexandra pouted and said to Josephine, “Grams, taking medicine on an empty stomach hurts your stomach. Why don’t you drink some hot soup before eating? I’ll get you some!”
Before Josephine could refuse, Alexandra got up and ran into the kitchen.
A minute later, she came out with a small bowl of soup and a spoon.
“It’s very light. Drink a little and take the medicine.” Alexandra scratched her head. “It might not be so tasty. I’m not as good as a chef”
Josephine looked at Alexandra’s sincere gaze and sat down.
Alexandra was happy to see that she did not mind. She sat down and picked up her spoon to eat.
Josephine picked up a spoon and stirred half a bowl of plain porridge. Alexandra, who was sitting opposite her, seemed to be really hungry. She blew on the soup in the spoon and began to put it into her mouth.
She gasped as she ate.
It looked funny and cute.
As Josephine watched, for some reason, her heart felt warm.
All these years, although she didn’t get involved in the business world and those rich families‘ competitions, she was used to seeing all kinds of people as a woman of her status.
There were people who were undetermined and insincere.
There were people who were hypocritical and evil–minded.
With just a glance, she could tell the purpose of the other party.
Alexandra, who was brought home by Julian, was surprisingly innocent.
Although she was not as noble as those daughters of prestigious families, the sincerity she exuded was very rare.
Alexandra took a few bites and suddenly realized that Josephine was looking at her. Confused, she asked, “Grams, what’s wrong? Does it taste bad?”
Josephine shook her head and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly. She put a spoonful of soup into her mouth and tasted it. It was salty, bland, and very light.
She said, “It’s not bad”
Alexandra knew that she was trying not to hurt her feelings, so she said honestly, “I’m sorry, Grams. I don’t know how to cook.”

Josephine smiled and took another spoonful. She slowly blew on it and looked up at Alexandra. “So what if you don’t know how to cook? I don’t
know how to cook either.”
Alexandra was speechless.
Suddenly, she couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Josephine also laughed out loud and finished the soup in the spoon.
The next morning, when Alexandra woke up for breakfast, she was alone.
The meal was ready for her on the table. She asked Ruth, “Ms. Rivera, where’s Grams?”
“Mrs. Alexandra, Mrs. Josephine is still a little unwell. She’ll sleep a little longer. You can eat first.”
“Oh.”
“By the way, this is the vegetable soup that Mrs. Josephine specially instructed the chef to make. Eat this to keep your stomach warm.” Ruth brought out a bowl of porridge made from top–grade ingredients from the kitchen and placed it in front of Alexandra.
As soon as Alexandra heard the words “keep the stomach warm“, she immediately wondered if Josephine had heard her say that she was hungry during her period last night.
Alexandra felt her heart warm.
She had always felt that Josephine didn’t like her.
Today was Friday. Alexandra knew that Julian was coming back tonight. In order to avoid the awkwardness of meeting him, she agreed to go home with Emery tonight.
She just wanted to hide from him for as long as she could.
Anyway, she was still very afraid to see Julian..
After all, the two of them had slept on the same bed two days ago..
She blushed at the thought.
Although she couldn’t hide from him forever, she would feel more comfortable when she managed to hide from him for even one day.
Therefore, Alexandra sent Julian a text message on Friday afternoon, telling him that she was going to her classmate’s house for the weekend.
She was shocked that Julian did not reply to her.
Alexandra didn’t understand what Julian meant, so she simply ignored him.
When he received Alexandra’s message, Julian had just gotten off the plane.
Marco told Julian the message on his phone. Julian said, “You don’t have to reply to her.”
“Yes.” Marco began to wonder if Julian and Alexandra were having a cold war.
There was no need for Julian to go on this business trip, but he actually took the initiative to do this business personally.
Now that he finally returned to Highclere City, Alexandra was having a sleepover at her classmate’s place.
Marco had a feeling that something must have happened.
“Mr. Ranford, did you have a fight with Mrs.. Ranford?” Marco really couldn’t figure it out, so he went all out and asked Julian directly. He planned to mend their broken relationship.

Julian stopped in his tracks and said expressionlessly. “No.”
“That’s strange! Why do I feel that you’re avoiding Mrs… Ranford, and Mrs.. Ranford is also avoiding you? Mr. Ranford, did you bully Mrs…
Ranford?”
“You want to know?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Ask her yourself.”
Marco was speechless.
Marco, who didn’t get an answer, became even more confused.
He’d always been a stan of them. He didn’t know what happened.
He recalled the fact that Julian planned to fall out with Colin for Alexandra because she was set up.
“By the way, the Walters family has a new company opening tomorrow. Help me prepare a gift. I’ll send it over tonight.”
“Yes, Mr. Ranford.”
When she arrived at Emery’s house, Alexandra realized how rich her family was.
The villa’s grandeur and vastness were even comparable to those of the Ranford family.
After following Emery into the villa, Cecilia came out to welcome her.
It seemed like she knew in advance that Emery was going to bring her classmate back.
She walked out to welcome her with a smile. “Emery is back? This is your good friend Alex, right? Come on in!”
Alexandra had a good first impression of Cecilia. Compared to the hypocrisy of her stepmother, Margot, and the pretentiousness of Julian’s stepmother, Caroline, Cecilia was enthusiastic and considerate in her every move.
She welcomed Alexandra in her heart, and Alexandra immediately sensed it.
She wondered why the people she met since she came to Highclere City had always been from rich families.
Originally, she thought that her father, Peter, was already rich enough.
However, he was not richer than the Ranford family.
She had accidentally gotten to know Emery, but the Walters family was not one of those ordinary families either.
She could not help but wonder if it was all God’s plan.
Looking at the Walters family’s grandeur, she was too embarrassed to take out the bag of fruits in her hand.
However, Cecila obviously did not care about this. She took the things from her hands with both hands and invited her into the house. “Just make yourself comfortable here. Don’t bring any gifts in the future. Just make yourself at home.
Emery was obviously afraid that Alexandra would feel uncomfortable, so she stayed by her side all the time.
When they arrived at the living room, the maid brought over a plate of fruits and various imported snacks.
Cecilia stood up to give the two girls some space and said, “Emery, you just make Alex feel comfortable, alright? I’ll go check on the dishes in
the kitchen.”
“Okay. Mom, are brother and dad coming back?”
