Chapter 39
Chapter 39
Seeing her grandson, who had quarreled with her last night, she sighed inaudibly and ignored them as she went to the dining room.
Alexandra sat beside Julian with her head lowered. No one dared to look at her.
As she lowered her head to eat the porridge, a golden round cake appeared on the plate in front of her.
Alexandra turned her head. Julian had already put down his fork. He glanced at her and said, “Eat more for breakfast. You still have to go to school later.”
As soon as he said that, Alexandra immediately pouted in a grievance..
She felt that he was clearly making fun of her.
Of course, Julian noticed her expression. The corners of his mouth moved slightly, and he was actually in a very good mood.
When Josephine heard Julian’s words, she thought that Julian was determined to battle with Mr. McFadden to the end, so she became a little more impatient.
She suddenly put down her fork. “That’s it. Stop fooling around!”
Alexandra was so frightened that she shivered and did not dare to put the porridge into her mouth.
Julian was surprisingly calm. He slowly put down his fork.
He rarely disobeyed Josephine.
Josephine put down her fork when she realized that she couldn’t have a meal in peace.
“Mr. McFadden called me. Let’s do as Alex says. Don’t cause trouble for Mr. McFadden. If the test paper is wrong, so be it. University of Highclere stands for Highclere City’s reputation. There can’t be any negative news in University of Highclere.”
tone was almost commanding.
Towards the end, Josephine’s tone
Julian’s expression did not change. He mocked, “Highclere City’s reputation? What right do they have to step on my wife’s face? Am I, Julian, so worthless to them?”
“Julian, this matter ends here. Did you hear me?” Josephine was so angry that she wanted to hit him with her cane.
The corners of Julian’s lips curled up. “Grams, Mr. McFadden probably didn’t tell you that the test papers were secretly replaced by his granddaughter. Just because Alex fought for justice last time. Grams, just because Alex isn’t the granddaughter–in–law you like, you want to bully her with outsiders? She’s not liked by her parents, so why should she suffer when she marries me?”
Josephine was speechless. She was already confused.
She had no doubt that her grandson was telling the truth, including the fact that Alexandra was set up by Colin’s granddaughter.
Just as the atmosphere was tense, the phone on the table rang.
It was a call from Julian.
As soon as he saw the name, he smiled. “Look, it’s here.”
Julian put the phone on speaker and said in front of everyone, “Mr. McFadden, it’s so early. What’s the matter?”
Then, she heard Colin’s voice spread in the air. “Hello? Mr. Ranford, hahaha, aren’t you and Alex making a fool of me?”

Chapter 39
Julian asked, “Oh? Mr. McFadden, why would you say that?”
“The Halver University’s Olympic Research Group has replied to the email. The results are out…”
“Oh.”
“If it weren’t for the fact that the examination hall was under strict surveillance, I would have thought that someone had cheated. Alex’s phone couldn’t be reached. It was switched off. Please tell her that she has been accepted.”
There was utter silence in the air.
Alexandra was even more shocked. Her beautiful eyes widened slightly as she looked at Julian’s handsome side profile in disbelief.
He remained calm and composed as if everything was under his control.
Josephine and Caroline were also incomparably shocked.
“I’ll tell her. Alex will be happy if she finds out.”
“Well… what a misunderstanding. I’m sorry, Mr. Ranford. On behalf of University of Highclere, I welcome Alexandra to be one of us.”
Colin was trembling on the other end of the phone. He was both regretful and glad. It would be a pity if a genius like Alexandra was not accepted by University of Highclere.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Ranford. I’ll educate my granddaughter properly.”
Julian chuckled. “Mr. McFadden, that’s very thoughtful of you. If it weren’t for your granddaughter’s prank, even I wouldn’t know how impressive our Alex is!”
“Haha… when she comes, I’ll apologize to her in person.”
“Thank you for informing me personally, Mr. McFadden.”
After hanging up, Alexandra stared at Julian in a daze.
At this moment, Caroline had already opened the official forum of University of Highclere from her phone. The most eye- catching post was Alexandra’s test result.
She opened the post and saw that it was a scanning copy of a test paper, but there was only the front and not the back. On the front was the approval of the teacher from the Halver Research Group and the special seal of the Halver University Mathematical Olympiad Research Group.
The score was eye–catching: 75.
In other words, it was one point higher than the score of 74 points of the genius of the Department of Mathematics and Science who represented University of Highclere in the International Mathematical Olympiad last year,
This post had already stood out from the previous posts and quickly became a hot topic.
Caroline exclaimed, “Oh my god! Mom, the results are out. Alex passed! She scored one point higher than the math genius from University of Highclere last year, William!”
Josephine leaned over to take a look at the content on her phone. She could hardly believe this fact.
Alexandra could not believe it.
She couldn’t believe she could get such a high score.
At the dining table, Julian was the calmest.
Chapter 39
He actually continued to pick up his fork and eat his breakfast unhurriedly.
After taking a bite, he turned to look at the dumbfounded Alexandra. “Aren’t you hungry?”
“I…”
E
“Eat quickly. Didn’t you hear me? You’ve been accepted.”
“Oh.”
Alexandra had no idea why there had been such a drastic change in just one night when she just managed to take a nap.
Josephine raised her head in shock and looked at Julian opposite her. “Julian, did you buy off the staff of the Mathematical Olympiad research team at Halver University?”
Alexandra also looked at Julian.
This seemed to be the only reasonable answer.
Julian slowly curled his lips. “Grams, I graduated from a degree mill. How can I have that ability? Maybe Alex overperformed when she was doing the test, right? Alex?”
Alexandra was speechless.
After going upstairs, Julian put on his tie in front of the mirror.
Alexandra secretly unlocked her phone and saw a few missed calls. Some were from Mr. McFadden, some were from Emery, and some were from Peter.
She logged onto the University of Highclere’s application and saw that it was indeed as Julian had said. Her results were announced. She scored 75 points.
Alexandra swallowed. “Mr. Ranford… did you really bribe the research team?”
“Am I that powerful in your eyes?” Julian stared at the little girl behind him in the mirror.
Alexandra asked again, “Was the teacher from the marking team drunk?”
Julian was speechless.
This girl really didn’t know how good she was.
That was interesting.
He finished with his tie and turned to stare with interest at the small, fair, innocent face. “You might as well say that I’m the teacher who marks papers for the test. I get to decide how many scores you get.”
Alexandra was stunned for a second before she knew that he was joking.
She frowned. “Mr. Ranford! You’re still in the mood to joke! I was scared to death!”
Julian sized up her expression with a deep gaze. He couldn’t see any signs of acting.
He was even more determined.
There were still secrets that he did not know about Alexandra.
Perhaps, even Alexandra herself did not know.
He said, “Because you’re a kind little fairy. Maybe an angel helped you when you were doing the test.”

“But, how could it be such a coincidence? I scored 75? One point higher than a mathematics scholar?” Alexandra still could not understand.
“Why? You want to get full marks?”
“How is that possible? I’m not a genius!”
Julian smiled. “Let’s go. I’ll send you to school.”
