Chapter 19
Chapter 19
“Gabbie”
I turned to discover Alex marching behind me. I threw my head back and groaned.
“What Alex? It’s too early.”
“You’ve been keeping secrets from me?”
“What?” I grounded to a halt.
“You have a boyfriend and you didn’t tell me!”
“Where’d you hear that!”
He came up beside me and bumped my shoulders. It was just after breakfast and I didn’t have a class that morning, though I was heading to the castle to use the library. Alex had a big mischievous smirk on. How did he hear about Cole? He hadn’t even asked me to be his girlfriend yet…
“Come on Gabbie.”
“You’ve been listening to the gossip mills now!?
“More than one person’s talking about it.”
I stopped again. This time I couldn’t look at him. I wasn’t ashamed, but this was new to me. What did I even say? Cole hadn‘ asked me to be his girlfriend I couldn’t say I was.
“Don’t look like that Gabbie. It’s okay if it isn’t true.”
I sighed. “I’m not sure. We’ve been talking a while.”
“And still you didn’t tell me!” He threw his hands in the air dramatically
“Shh!” I grabbed his hands and squeezed them. “Don’t ruin this! No one else wants me. This is just a rare form of luck.”
Alex broke free from my tiny cage. “I wish you’d stop saying that Gabbie.”
“You know it is”
He shook his head and kept his eyes firmly on me. “L. never mind
He picked up my hand and marched us along to the school castle The sun was high in a clear blue sky, though the chill down below warranted coats and boots. We got to the school grounds and Alex was still holding my hand. It made heat to my cheeks. What if his mate was prowling around?
“Um, Alex. I’m heading to the library.”
His brows dipped. “Don’t you want breakfast?”
I smiled, “Probably isn’t the best idea… besides I ate at the quarters.” I started to back up.
“Gabbie.” He called.
I paused. He closed the distance between us. Alex grabbed my forehead and pressed his lips against it. I shut my eyes and my world turned upside down. His lips lingered there longer than normal. It wasn’t good for my imagination.

Chapter 19
“You know I won’t let anyone hurt you right?”
I gave a slight nod. “Thank you.”
81%1
I was in the library for close to two hours. I was reading up on everything to do with pack history. I didn’t want any surprises like yesterday’s with the omega rituals. Turns out there was a lot didn’t know.
“Hey omega”
I turned to find a gamma with dark red hair staring back at me. Iwas tempted to tell her my name was Gabriella and not omega, but I let it slide.
“What’s going on?”
“You’re needed in the kitchen upstairs.” She sounded like she was in the military. I guess she was, all gammas were trained to be soldiers.
“What for?”
“What do Itare? Just go.”
1 narrowed my eyes and bit the inside of my cheek. “Who’s calling?”
“Listen omega I don’t have all day. I was told to send you a message. I’d hurry if I were you so I wouldn’t piss off whoever wants you.”
She turned on her heels and left. I scrawled. She didn’t know whose messages she was delivering. This smelt fishy. My heart, was racing. What if I got to the kitchen and it was Kade? He let Cole defy him that wasn’t going to unpunished. It had to be him. I wasn’t going to let him punish me if that’s what he had in mind.
I marched up the flight of concrete steps. Alex was wrong I would never get used to climbing these stairs. I neared the kitchen entrance and froze when I saw Harlow’s ghostly white hair. She was the one who called for me?
I stepped back. Giggling came from the kitchen and my blood went cold. All of them? They were all waiting for me. No way in hell was I going in there.
“Come on, tell us your plan. It’s actually more beneficial to you if you do.” Leiah said.
I scrawled What was she on about?
“Yeah? How so?”
My eyes turned to saucers and my knees went weak
“I’m Alpha Alex’s mate. Who do you think is going to stop him when things heat up with the little omega
Cole chuckled. “Of course. I forgot he was her best friend. You really think he’s going to be pissed?”
Tears stung my eyes. I gripped the wall tighter and pressed against it as if there was some way I was going to be able to fuse with it. I knew it was Cole. I knew his voice.
“Look, it isn’t anything fancy. This is all about who actually gets to fuck her. I mean every wolf’s been dying to know if she’s just as fiery in bed. I figured I would have a better chance since I stayed in the quarters with her.”
“Wow, I mean you’ll be instantly famous. Leiah giggled.
“That’s the plan. I think I’ve got this in the bag.” Cole said.
O
I wanted to punch him–I wanted to throw all the utensils in the room at his stupid head.
“Really? When do you plan on finishing the job? You sound so confident it has to be soon.” Harlow said, her tone sweet and Juring
Like a sailor on the sea, Cole fell right for it,
“Of course. Took her to the Shivering Oak yesterday. I managed to draw her in for some kisses.” He sounded so proud.
Hot tears stained my face. I wiped them away. He didn’t deserve them.
“How was it?” Harlow probed.
“Eh, I’ve had better.”
The girls burst into laughter. That was the last straw I turned and ran down the stairs. I held the tears in when I got out in the open and steadied my posture. Not here. Not in front of these wolves. As soon as I got to the meadow I let it all out. The quarters were in sight but that was the last place I wanted to go. With hot tears running down my chin, I just ran. I knew the forest well enough not to land in a ditch. I smelt moisture and realized I’d run myself to a lake: I didn’t know the area had bodies of water.
I walked to the shore and kicked off my sneakers. I sunk my toes into the lake. Cole’s words wouldn’t stop ringing in my head. He’d had better? It was just about the sex? If I had a wolf it would have escaped and torn him limb from limb. I curled into a ball on the sand and wept.
“Gabbie?” Followed by boots crashing into the sand.
I froze and then sniffled.
“Why are you crying?” Kade demanded.
1 hauled myself to sit up. I must have looked like shit. With sand in my hair and my eyes stained red.
“What the hell happened damn it!”
“I-“the hiccup was followed by another gash of tears. Kade sighed and settled down next to me. He didn’t look too thrilled about the sand.
“I’m not in the mood for this Kade just go away.
“No. I want to know why you’re like this.” He said softly it even surprised me
“What: You don’t like that someone else is causing my misery?”
His brows dipped. This was the Kade I didn’t understand! He wrapped me in his arms and ran his fingers in my hair where he let them stay. It felt so right, but it shouldn’t. He had a mate. Later I laid on his chest with his hand massaging the back of my head. The other rest on my tummy where it travels under my shirt.
His touch alone had me moaning. He kissed the top of my head. It wasn’t enough. My body was tingling, my ears were ringing and my limbs were ablaze. Kade felt hot too, but not enough to make me run. It was a fire I wanted to dive into.
“Kade.” I wiggled against him, not knowing what to do to relieve myself of how I felt.
“I know.” He whispered.
He slipped out from under me but kept his hand on the back of my head. He stared down at me with his palm still on my tummy until it started to travel down my skirt and found the waistband of my underwear.
“What are you–” I whispered.
“Tell me to stop and Titstop, He said.
I stared into his cold blue eyes. I wasn’t sure I wanted him to stop. I bit my lip and gave a little nod.
He flipped my skirt up and let his fingers travel on the fabric of my underwear. I arched my back when he slipped under it.
“It’s okay. I won’t hurt you.” He said into my hair.
At first, he just rubbed the outside of my underwear in small circles. They were enough to have me breathing heavily. He found my bud and rubbed it harder with his thumb. I gasped when he pressed down on it.
“Uh, I bit down on my lip.
Kade smirked, increasing his tempo.
y welness.
I gripped his arm as he slid his finger down the line of my entrance, sliding through my
“Oh gosh!”
He covered my mouth with his lips. I thought he was going to penetrate. Then I exploded.
