The Nymph of Black Forest

Derek’s POV ~

Edward and I sat there..looking at the door.. and he asks “How did she figure that out? Just that quick” I shrugged “Dude! When I met her.. she didn’t slow up for nothing. She is constantly on the move. Her brain never stops. She’s in constant motion!” I watched her put together an entire breakfast for four in under twenty minutes.. complete with fresh apple turnovers.. the guys wanted to bring her home right then!”

We headed down to get some dinner, and Shawn was in an argument with Theo about Micah.. saying Micah can’t talk. Shawn told him Micah talks all the time. I asked “Do you have nothing better to do?” And Sadie responds “These two have argued about everything today. I’m ready to stick them both in time out..or whack them with an iron skillet, I’m still deciding!” Rhiannon and Monty come in from the backyard. Monty says “Dude! She talks to everything! Literally, a tree stopped her to tell her one of its branches had weakened in the storm two days ago. And she fixed it! Like mended the damn branch like it had a broken arm!” Rhiannon replies “She! Not it. She’s a blue spruce..and winter’s coming. A weakened branch could snap off in the snow. That would have hurt her more”

Theo sat listening..and asked her “Can Micah talk?” out of the blue. She grins “All living things can communicate. It’s about our willingness to listen that tells the tale. But yes..Micah talks.. tell him Micah!” And the little guy starts squeaking and snorting away.. She and I laugh at him and I say “Micah…he doesn’t understand.. and seriously..dad jokes?”

Monty whined “Aww Man! I love dad jokes! What was his?” I rolled my eyes “Seriously?” They all nodded so I repeated “He said… if april showers bring may flowers..what do may flowers bring?” Edward jumped in “Well..what?” And I answered “Pilgrims “ They all laughed…asking Micah if he had anymore.. Rhiannon said “No! We aren’t translating! Let’s eat before it’s cold!”

After dinner, we all went to the conference center.. Rhiannon says “The ospreys are leaving out in the wee hours of the morning.. they will spread the word to all the other birds of prey. And, they, in turn, will pass it on to other predators. We will be seeing animals arriving, possibly as soon as two days… I’m going to turn in.. it’s been an emotional day. I love you!” And she kissed me good night.

Everyone else decided to turn in… leaving Shawn, Monty and I.. I linked Tom to meet with us…abd when he showed up.. I poured us all drinks..before I started talking.. “Tom, I want you and Monty to step up training. The king’s guards and warriors will be arriving tomorrow morning. Schedule them in for training, as well. Rhis and I discussed this..and it’s been decided this Leonard guy will have to come for us, here. We aren’t risking any more ambushes of our people. Having the ospreys will give us a head’s up.. long before our borders are reached. We will be ready. We also know , the King and our Luna are his primary targets.. We know there is a rogue camp set up about 80 miles from here. In the morning, we will make a decision about taking it out. I like the idea of eliminating a two hundred man fighting force..before that ass has his battle plan solidified. Always leave them guessing, yeah?”

Tom responds “I can have 150 troops ready..boots on the ground, within an hour. You give me the Go, and we’re set to roll out! It’d be good to get a little retribution for the ambushes that nearly cost us..not only our Alpha.. but our King! While you have me here, would you mind if I ask about Donna? I want to prepare Nancy…if you’ve decided on execution…which would be my vote..but, you know….Nancy.. I just want to prepare my mate for any inevitability.. I am worried about the baby. She’s struggling with the pregnancy, since all this happened”

I nod…feeling bad for them.. “I haven’t decided yet.. she wasn’t the only mole.. but she was the one with the most selfish motive.. I can’t trust her to ever be loyal. Some Alphas would have killed her, out of hand…along with her entire family. I won’t make a decision until this war is over.. but, if she survives…her punishment will be harsh. I have to make an example of her. As for Nancy, I will ask Rhiannon to take a look at her..and perhaps ease her pregnancy issues!”

He nods and thanks me. Monty says “I think Tom and I should work with the King’s head warrior..and his Sargeant at Arms of the elite guard.. trading training methods. It will not only increase our fighting strategy..it will help us all fight together, as a cohesive unit.”

I respond “I have sparred with the Sargeant…he may be an older soldier, but he’s cunning and smart as hell! He watches you, he learns your moves, within seconds..and uses them against you. That would be a skill we could definitely use. Convincing him to share his secrets, may be a pain in the ass! But, I might be underhanded enough to have Edward command him to. Though, I have no doubt he’d make me pay for it, if I try to force him to give them away!” Chuckling, Monty says “Yeah..I’d pay to see that!

Shawn looks at him “That’s a really good idea. We all need to get out and spar one another…I know I need to. I don’t want to be rusty when we are face-to-face with the enemy! But, it’s not my turn to spar with Luna. That crazy little spider monkey kicked my ass last time!” I laughed “I will spar with her…I get where you’re coming from! She’s a little….energetic.” Shawn grins, nodding. “Yeah…Let’s go with that! Energetic…she’ll probably kick my ass..again..if she finds out I called her crazy” We all laughed at that. But, he’s probably right!

We all hear the warning howl… then the mind link 🐺 Breach! Breach! Breach! Southwest.. 100 wolves.. five patrol down! And we all jump from our chairs and haul ass. I haven’t even broke the backyard when Edina has joined me. We are racing to the border, when I realize they had not only broken through, they were closing in on the pack house.. Edina links 🐺 Don’t worry. Sadie and Honore’ are already getting our noncombatants into the safe room and bunkers. They’re safe! And she no sooner got that out, we were in it! I spotted Edward jump into the fray.. latching his massive jaw around the middle of a wolf.. tearing his head to the side, nearly ripping the wolf in half. I spoke into the link to save at least one…I want answers!

Rhiannon summoned the earth..and nature.. tree roots and vines were trapping the rogues..holding them hostage. The ones who weren’t were dying.. Edward yelled “No Mercy” through the link and my wolves took him seriously. We tore through them . Killing them without hesitation. They brought death and destruction..never realizing it was their own!
