Derek’s POV ~

This day has turned into a complete clusterfuck! Everywhere I turn right now…problems! I have asked myself a hundred times, if this is worth it! Rescuing people who didn’t want to be rescued…arranging placement when they couldn’t have cared less if they lived as prisoners the rest of their lives. Not one of them.. thanked us! Showed anything other than resentment!

Rhiannon pulls me down beside her in bed, and covers us both up. She whispers “It’s been a really long day, we’re both exhausted.. Let’s just sleep on it, and let our brains rejuvenate. I love you! So much! And we can only help people who want to help themselves. Tomorrow, we start working the kinks out!” I chuckled “You are so right. I love you!”

The next morning…sitting down to breakfast..we noticed Tammy’s family at a table in the far corner. Detouring to pass in front of them, I spoke directly to Will “You are my priority this morning. Immediately following breakfast, I would like your entire family to join the King, your other daughter, and I in the conference room. My Gamma will show you the way.” He replied “Yes, Alpha” and Rhiannon and I sat in our seats. Adele looked up saying “I had a visitor in the night. She brought news… we will need to discuss it later” and I shuttered.. I can never decide if her voice sounds ominous or just mysterious. Either way, it scares the shit out of me..every time!

Getting everyone seated in the conference room, I notice Peggy glaring at Tammy. There is something about that woman that unsettles me..and I am going to address it! “Before we start this meeting.. Peggy..is there something you wish to share? You seem to have a lot of opinions..and aren’t happy with the direction all this is heading.. Tell me…why was Tammy pushed to apply for the nanny position? She has admitted it wasn’t something she wanted to do. And, as your mate didn’t even know his youngest child is gifted…I feel he isn’t the person to speak with on Tammy’s appointment at the castle, either. We need to start hearing from you..and don’t try to lie! I’m sure the King will have no problem commanding the truth!”

She sneered “His command means nothing! He is not the rightful king!” Rhiannon snaps “This bitch! Listen, Peggy! If you are about to rattle off some bullshit about this Leonard character is the rightful King…all because of some fucked up prophecy he read in some dusty book.. then save it! The prophecy he has in inaccurate and incorrect! Ever wonder why a prophecy doesn’t speak of the ending? Because that can never be determined..until the fucking end! Fate can predict a prophecy..the events that lead up to it..the major players.. but fate cannot factor in free will! It cannot predict how any one combatant will respond to every circumstance.. that’s why they always read ‘this could happen…if that doesn’t happen’ So spare us the bullshit Leonard interpretation of a half written prophecy he read in a book that may or may not have been sanctioned by the Gods and Goddesses. Stick to fucking facts!”

Peggy looks flustered “He is descended from the Demon God! He is entitled to his rightful place!” And Rhiannon busted out laughing “And Edward is descended from the Sun God! As is my mate! I am descended from the Nymph Goddess! Be realistic! Edward’s bloodline is ordained by the Moon Goddess herself! He is blessed and anointed King! Be careful of how you speak!” She stuttered out “He told us the throne was stolen from his bloodline. That our people will follow him completely, once he is king! I can’t risk my family’s lives by not doing his bidding! We were told to not support him is treason..and he is going to execute all traitors. I was instructed to see to it that Tammy was accepted and working in the castle or my youngest daughter is forfeit! I did my duty to our king!” Edward roared “You took the easy way out! Duty to your king? Your lives are forfeit right NOW! I am your king! Ask your wolf, Peggy! Have her help you see the truth, before I end you!”

Monty mutters “Well…this is getting entertaining!” And Rhia snickers..before she punches him. Will cleared his throat “May I speak?” At my nod..he glances at his mate “I throw myself on your mercy, your grace. I was severely injured five months ago..and spent nearly eight weeks in and out of consciousness. I only learned yesterday, that my condition could have been improved, even healed..had my child been allowed to share her gift with me. Tammy was already gone by the time I became fully cognizant again. And then, I was informed she had landed a nanny post with the kingdom. I was proud of her. I prayed for her continued success. I only learned yesterday..of the deception and deceitfulness my mate has perpetuated. That, by no means, absolves me. I take full responsibility for my family. I only ask you show mercy to my daughters. They were manipulated and abused.. and I am ashamed of what my mate has done” Peggy snapped “William!” And he glared at her.

I interjected “Thank you, Will. But…we are still no closer to knowing why Tammy thought she was doing what was needed to save her family.. when your mate obviously believes that same family was not in danger. What I am needing to know is..what Peggy has promised to guarantee that safety!” As I finished speaking, Micah ran in with a cell phone. Rhiannon took it… after looking at it..she snarled “14 missed calls…from Leo…. As well as text messages. Sent…and received! Hmmm… Micah removed this from your purse, Peggy! Care to explain? Or shall I read the messages out loud? You should really have your phone passcoded!”

She handed the phone to me and I scrolled the messages..getting angrier by the second. I looked up at Edward as I passed the phone to him. And Edward began to read

P- We are in! Tammy did exactly what you said she would do to save ger own ass!

L- Keep your head down and play the game. All you have to donis gain trust

P- I screwed up. Will knows about Ava’s gift. This bitch of a Luna outted me!

L- FIX IT! You stupid cow! Not even there one day!

P- everything will be okay. I will be contrite and beg forgiveness.

L- I need the blood of the three to create my kingdom! I am counting on you to find a way in, for my troops!

P- I won’t fail you, bro
