Chapter 56
Now that the southern route along the coast was free of enemy soldiers and peace had come back to the lands, Kirin and Blick had their armies go cross-country to Somervale, where they boarded ships to take them home. With Katrina in charge back at Winsome Castle, Shamus returned with Shannon and the Drow Elves to Castle North. Kirin also had one of the bird riders fly to Hooter’s Hollow and bring Treymane back for the celebration. After all he did show Kirin a quicker way out of the valley into the Hillshire.
A few days later Roma arrived. She was transported in a covered wagon, lying on a soft covered floor. She had broken her hip and would walk with a heavy limp for the rest of her life. The healers did what they could to save her life, but she had come to them too late. The injury was permanent. Raven was at her side immediately and fussing over her. Roma appreciated this, but wanted to celebrate with all of her friends, while Raven wanted her to rest before engaging in the festivities. It meant that her adventuring days were over and that she would need to find a new hobby to keep her busy.
Two days passed when a wagon arrived from Castle Winsome, bearing a chest full of gold. Along with the treasure was a note from the newly crowned Queen Katrina that stated the gold was to be evenly distributed among the friends that helped to free her and bring peace back to all the lands. There was enough so that every one of the friends including the Drow and Roma would never have to work a day in their lives ever again.
The festivities continued for about a week, before it ended. Shannon and Brianna accompanied Kirin, Blick and the hobbit, while Raven and Roma returned to the farm in Storr. The Drow offered to stay a while to help the injured woman, until she was sturdier on her feet. Hollis returned to the island and his new rank of captain of all the Drow armies.
Treymane became the hero of the Hillshire once more and retreated to his home for a long rest. Shamus headed north and soon was married to Katrina, thus solidifying an everlasting truce between the northern and southern races. Brendan and Sapphira also married and had a daughter nine months later. All the friends agreed to meet again the following year to celebrate their friendship.
