The Heiress’ Hidden Alliance

Chapter 82

Chapter 82 Those Who Feel Inferior Are Insecure.

“Aurelia!” Herbert called out loudly.

Aurelia briskly walked up to him. “Mom told me this morning that you were taking a few days off to study at home. What made you suddenly decide to come see ine?”

I missed you, Aurelia. Are you tired from work?”

Just a while ago. Herbert had been sizing up Gardner Group Building. He had looked it up online. Team Gardner, which Aurelia had joined, was so highly regarded in the industry that they had no peers.

Aurelia is truly remarkable, but she must have also put in an unimaginable amount of effort. She is so kind–hearted, cherished by all her brothers for many years. Yet, the Leedon family dared to mistreat her

The thought of Aurelia being bullied brought tears to his eyes.

“I’m not tired at all. I enjoy this job. I’m always happy when I’m working. It just so happens that it’s lunch break now. Let me show you around, then we can have a meal together. It’s been a long time since we, siblings, have eaten together.” Aurelia replied with a smile.

There wasn’t a trace of victimization to be seen on Aurelia’s face despite the bullying she had endured.

Aurelia had always been like this, not wanting her family to worry about her.

“I’ve saved up quite a bit of pocket money. Let me treat you,” said Herbert.

“I insist. I’ve made some money recently, so treating you to a meal and a shopping spree is no problem at all. Don’t try to save money on my account,” Aurelia would never allow Herbert to spend his own pocket

money

With his head bowed low, Herbert’s eyes grew even redder. He planned to find ways to earn money in his spare time once he started college. Once he became stronger, there would be no one who could bully his family.

The two of them checked the time and first went to the top floor of the mall to have a meal.

Herbert had a fondness for barbecue. He and Aurelia ordered several plates of it, eating until they were completely stuffed.

Looking a at the each other’s protruding belly, the siblings couldn’t help but laugh, wondering how many months the other had been pregnant

Herbert was wholly devoted to his studies. Whenever he had free time, he would go out to play basketball and engage in various sports. He didn’t care at all about what he wore.

You’re indeed handsome. Today, I will buy you a few sets of clothes. Once your college entrance exams. are over, come find me and I’ll get you a new phone and laptop.”

When Aurelia saw that Herbert was still wearing his school uniform, she was reminded of how their family had been living frugally these past years. The clothes Herbert wore were almost always hand–me–downs from Xavier and Charlie, with very few being new purchases.

“Aurelia, keep the money you’ve earned for yourself. Girls like to buy all sorts of bags and clothes. As a

spend money on him.

“No, it won’t do. Not wearing stylish clothes would be a waste of your good looks.”

“Then just buy one piece.”

How could one be enough?

Aurelia didn’t heed Herbert’s advice. She found a store that suited Herbert’s style and went straight in, selecting several outfits for him to try on.

As a result, every piece came out looking great on him

In the end, she picked three sets.

When it was time to settle the bill, Herbert insisted on not letting Aurelia pay. He only wanted one item, but was outright rejected by Aurelia.

“Both of you are such a sweet young couple,” the shop assistant said, her eyes sparkling as admired them.

“He is my younger brother.”

“She is my sister.”

The shop assistant was somewhat embarrassed, having made the wrong assumption. “I’m so sorry, I’m really embarrassed.”

The two look about the same age. However, the girl is so beautiful that I overlooked the fact that she is wearing a uniform. She must be a white–collar worker from nearby. The boy is just wearing a high school uniform, and upon a closer observation, they really do appear to be siblings.

Herbert was frustrated. “Aurelia!”

“Your birthday is coming up soon. Consider these your birthday gifts from me.” After Aurelia finished swiping her card, she handed over three large bags to Herbert.

Herbert stared at the three large bags of clothes, his eyes reddening, with emotion. His classmates had mentioned that the clothes from this store were expensive. Usually, some classmates would mock him for his outdated and worn–out clothes, but he never cared.

To him, people who feel inferior often harbored feelings of insecurity within themselves.

He never felt inferior because of his family’s circumstances.

On the contrary, he believed that what he possessed was something many people could only dream of having in their lifetime.

As for money, he didn’t have any at the moment, but he would earn it in the future. Money, in fact, was not the most important thing to him.

However, this did not imply that he wanted Aurelia to spend money on him, especially after how she

suffered.

In the end, she didn’t buy much for herself, but spent a large sum of money buying clothes for him.

“During this period, I’ve restored several paintings for people and even opened a shop on Amazon. Using my income to buy you a few clothes is nothing,” said Aurelia, noticing Herbert’s anxiety. Although Herbert was the youngest in the family, he had always been careful not to spend frivolously since he was a child.

Despite having few new clothes, he didn’t behave like other children who would fuss and clamor for them.

Instead, upon seeing the beautiful clothes worn by other people’s sisters, he persistently pleaded with Phyllis to buy Aurelia the same.

“Aurelia? Are you keeping a boy toy without the knowledge of your sugar daddy?”

Suddenly, Melanie’s sharp and sarcastic voice echoed from behind.

Aurelia and Herbert turned around

Melanie had already activated the camera function on her phone, snapping several photos in succession.

“How shameless can you get! Is he even of legal age? Have you been so desperate lately that you’re not even sparing minors?” Melanie rejoiced secretly in her heart.

Even luck is on my side, allowing me to catch Aurelia red–handed.

What nonsense are you spouting, Melanie? Do you have a death wish? Haven’t you bullied my sister enough at the Leedon residence?” Herbert put down his clothes.

He was a hot–blooded youth. Before Melanie could react, he had already launched a flying kick toward her.

“Ah!” Melanie screamed in horror.

Aurelia didn’t have the chance to stop Herbert, but she also never considered doing so.

She deserves a beating for her poison tongue

“Don’t hit me! I remember now, you’re Herbert, aren’t you? Have you lost your mind? I’m your real sister. She has nothing to do with you. You’re hitting me instead of her. Have you gone mad?” Melanie was outraged.

She was struck so hard that her car was buzzing

“F*ck that! You don’t even acknowledge us. Do you think I didn’t notice your disdain for us? Now you say you’re my sister, have you no shame?” Herbert raised his hand again, slapping Melanie across the face.

He had never hit a woman before. His elder brothers had always taught him that it was unacceptable to hit women. However, when Melanie bullied Aurelia, and even did so in front of him, he felt compelled to

intervene.

Melanie was so infuriated that she felt like she was about to burst a vessel. “I’m calling the police right now. You’re planning to take the university entrance exam, aren’t you? Let’s see how you’re going to take it once you’re arrested and have a criminal record.”

Suddenly, the expression on Herbert’s face drastically changed.

No matter how youthful and vigorous he might be, he couldn’t hide his thoughts, especially when he had never encountered shameless individuals. He was easily shocked by their despicable tactics.

“Fine, go ahead and call the police. I’ll contact a few journalists I know and invite them to uncover your true identity, Aurelia reminded nonchalantly.

She had already taken out her phone, ready to make a call.

“Aurelia!”

The color drained from Melanie’s face.

Aurelia looked at the exasperated Melanie with a half–smile.

However, Melanie turned her gaze toward the person behind Aurelia.

“Ms. Angela Sanders?”

Recently, many people in Jacaster were talking about Angela, so Melanie recognized her at a glance.
