Chapter 43 Too Close
It must have been the herbal tea bag she gave him yesterday.
“Mr. Quigley,” Aurelia greeted, before preparing to ascend the stairs.
Matthew looked over.
Aurelia met the cold, dark gaze of Matthew.
His mood seems a bit off today… No, that’s not entirely accurate either. He’s always been cold and distant foward others.
“Could you do me a favor?” Matthew asked her.
Aurelia was somewhat taken aback. “What kind of favor?”
She hadn’t expected that he would take the initiative to seek her help.
Observing his slightly furrowed brows and his enduring demeanor, she wondered if he really encountered some trouble.
She walked up to him.
“My headache, the acupoints you pressed for me at the Quigley residence last time were really helpful.” Matthew’s slender fingers paused on his temples, massaging them a few times, but it didn’t seem to alleviate much.
“Is your headache really severe? Where exactly does it hurt?” Aurelia asked in a gentle voice.
Upon hearing the woman’s soft voice, Matthew was momentarily taken aback, then he promptly pointed to the spot where his head ached.
“I’ll give it a try, but massaging the head can only provide some relief. Mr. Quigley, when you have time, you might want to consider visiting a traditional medicine practitioner and try acupuncture.”
Aurelia walked behind the couch, standing behind Matthew.
“Acupuncture?” The thought of a long needle piercing into his head made Matthew instinctively resist.
“Sometimes, what our ancestors left behind can be more useful than modern medicine. Now, relax and close your eyes,” Aurelia said, as she placed her hand on his head.
Matthew closed his eyes.
The acupoints that Aurelia pressed today were different from the last time.
This should effectively alleviate Matthew’s headache symptoms.
Thirty minutes later, Aurelia found herself in a bit of a predicament as she watched Matthew, who had already fallen asleep.
He was nearly two meters tall, a size she simply couldn’t carry. Moreover, his sleep was often troubled, and it seemed somewhat cruel to wake him.

Her gaze swept over to the neatly stacked blankets on the side.
She then grabbed the blanket and draped it over Matthew’s body.
Subsequently, she ascended the stairs with a light, delicate tread.

After taking a shower, she lay in bed, finding just the right amount of time to browse through her phone.
Half an hour ago, Xavier had asked her if she had arrived home. After replying to Xavier, she went on to check out the trending topics of the day.
The Leedon residence home was almost silent throughout the day, but the heat indeed subsided.
In a couple of days, many people would have forgotten that such an incident ever occurred online.
There were messages from Luna and Spencer on WhatsApp, but she didn’t read any of them.
She opened the chat with Chad and scrolled through to find a job recruitment notice that Chad had sent
her.
Norman’s team was the best among the teams when it came to restoring antiques.
After some thought, she revised her resume and sifted through her photo album to find a few comparison photos of her successful restoration works. She then sent them all to the email of Team Gardner.
Next, she opened her Amazon shop again.
A couple of days ago, she opened an appraisal shop on Amazon. The appraisal fees ranged from two hundred to five thousand, depending on the item to be appraised. She purely took orders based on chance.
On her way back to the Starry Sea Mansion after dropping off Xavier, she received an order. Then, she was sent a few pictures and was asked if they were real.
She had the client take a few more photos and videos according to her specifications. Although there were risks involved in appraising items through photos, she found herself becoming more perceptive than before..
Nowadays, the market was flooded with counterfeit goods being pass off as genuine ones. The methods of creating convincing imitations were endless, but a fake would always remain a fake.
After earning five hundred, she got out of bed to turn off the light.
Suddenly, she remembered Matthew, who was still on the first floor. She had forgotten to turn off the lights when she went upstairs earlier.
She descended the stairs lightly, careful not to make a sound. Matthew, who was reclining on the couch, remained in the same sleeping position as when she had gone upstairs. However, the blanket that had been on him had fallen to the floor.
Sleeping like this could easily lead to catching a cold, so she walked over and picked up the blanket, carefully covering him with it once again.
She had just straightened her back when her arm was seized, and she was spun onto the couch before she could even react

“Ahl
Aurelia let out a cry of pain, only to find herself staring into the wide–awake eyes of Matthew.
In those eyes, there was profound darkness that seemed as though it could swallow the night sky.

His hand still gripped her arm tightly, the formidable strength seemingly threatening to snap her arm in
two.
Tears welled up in Aurelia’s eyes as she asked, “Are you going to bite the hand that feeds you?”
It seemed as though it was only then that Matthew reacted, regret flickering in his eyes as he apologized, “I’m sorry: I was too rough.”
His action was purely instinctual just now.
He thought someone was going to kidnap him again:
In a state of being half–awake, it felt as if I had returned to that dimly lit warehouse….
“Did you have a nightmare?” Aurelia asked, rubbing her bruised arm, her tone far from pleasant.
Just a moment ago, had he grasped her neck, he would have undoubtedly broken it.
He used way too much force! He definitely has experience with this sort of thing before!
In her heart, she quietly told herself to maintain a safe distance from him in the future. She didn’t want to end up dead one day without knowing why.
Upon seeing the bruise spreading across Aurelia’s arm that she was massaging, Matthew furrowed his brows and said, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
“No need; I’ll just apply some ointment,” Aurelia declined, shaking her head.
It was already midnight, and it wouldn’t be appropriate to bother the doctors at the hospital at such a late hour.
To her, a bit of bruising was nothing.
Although she grew up in the countryside, her skin was naturally delicate. Any carelessness that led to a bump or scrape would leave her bruised, appearing quite severe. However, with a bit of ointment, it would heal in just a couple of days.
Matthew felt a pang of guilt, his eyes dimming slightly as they rested on her wound.
It was both green and purple.
It was as if someone had left behind a mark.
As he lifted his gaze, he unexpectedly caught sight of Aurelia’s lusciously moist red lips, which caused an immediate tightness in his throat.
He furrowed his brows, immediately rising to his feet. “I’ll get the first aid kit.”
By the time Matthew descended the stairs he was carrying a rather large box
Chapter 43 Too Close.
A first aid kit this big! It’s like a treasure chest!
Upon opening the first aid kit, it truly was filled with all sorts of medicines.
Matthew rummaged inside and found a tube of ointment, all labeled in Uprian.
Aurelia reached out to take it.
“If it’s inconvenient for you to apply it yourself, so let me do it instead,” Matthew said as he opened the cap of the ointment and squeezed the white paste onto his fingertip.
Aurelia didn’t refuse his offer either. She simply responded by saying. “All right.”
Although he appeared to be cold and indifferent, pushing people away at every turn, he was actually quite
attentive.
The rough tips of his fingers gently spread the ointment across her skin.
The room was very quiet, and the two were very close to each other as they sat on the couch..
They could hear each other’s breath, and suddenly, Aurelia felt as if they were too close. So close that their breaths seemed to intertwine.
Matthew’s gaze lingered for a couple of seconds on her long, gently quivering eyelashes.
Upon seeing him squeeze out some more ointment, Aurelia quickly said, “That should be enough.”
Her skin was somewhat delicate, but she wasn’t a particularly sensitive person. She knew he hadn’t done it on purpose and had willingly taken responsibility, so she wasn’t as upset anymore.
After applying so much ointment, she believed it should be fine now.
Matthew gazed at the stark, bluish–purple bruise on the woman’s pristine arm. His gaze darkened momentarily as he glanced down at his watch./Did I fall asleep just now?”
“Yeah, you probably slept for about forty minutes,” Aurelia replied as she stood up, feeling somewhat dizzy and tired.
After responding to his statement, she continued, “I’m going to rest now, Mr. Quigley.”
“Wait a moment.”
