The Heart Sees

It felt weird staying in an alpha's room... and in such a nice pack house. I tried to take it all in but there is so much to look at. I was excited to have a second chance mate and to give it a try... but I didn't know much about him other than a bit of his past. I didn't know if he knew I was an omega or not and I'm not sure if I should tell him. He says that I am safe here and I do feel that way but what if it is all a trick? What if he doesn't normally act this way and is just trying to keep me here?

'I think we can trust mate' Lilac said. 'He even slept on the couch and let us have the bed. He didn't try to touch us or hurt us' she reasoned.

'I know... but I'm worried that once we learn more about him he will be like alpha Chase' I shuddered.

'We should give him a chance... we have nowhere else to go' I sighed, knowing she was right.

"Hey you're awake" I heard Troy's voice and looked over at him. He was standing in the doorway holding a tray of food. "How are you feeling?" He asked as he walked towards me.

"A bit better but my head really hurts" I groaned, sitting up a bit. I didn't mention the pain I was feeling in my lower area.... had alpha Chase violated me after I went unconscious? But that doesn't make sense... I remember seeing Troy before I passed out.

"I brought you some breakfast and some pain killers from the hospital for your head" Troy said as he set the tray down on my lap.

"Thank you alpha" I bowed my head respectfully. "I am sorry for how I acted yesterday, I shouldn't have acted that way... it was disrespectful" I said, remembering how I had clung to him... and the things I said.

"No need to apologize Lu... and you can call me Troy, we are mates" Troy said with a sad smile and I nodded. To my surprise he pulled up a chair and sat beside the bed while I ate. I wanted to ask him what had happened to me after I passed out but I didn't think it was my place. "Is it okay with you if I invite the two wolves I would like you to meet in after you finish eating?" Troy asked.

'Two more male wolves....'Lilac said worriedly.

"Does anyone know that I am an omega?" I asked nervously.

"Yes the pack is aware that there is an omega here because of your scent. But don't worry, no one will hurt you here" Troy said calmly. "I also have your medicine here that prevents heat, I imagine that would be tough for you. I had your things sent from your old pack and this bottle was inside" he explained as he gestured to the pills beside the bed.

"Thank you alpha" I smiled a bit at him and he frowned a bit.

"If there is anything else you need just let me know" Troy stated.

"I am worried about meeting more male wolves...." I admitted in between bites.

Troy laughed and I was surprised, but I liked the sound. Although I was confused as to why he was laughing , "don't worry. The wolves you are meeting are not interested in female wolves".

"Oh...." I blushed in embarassment. "It should be okay to meet them then..." I sighed.

"Okay, they should be in shortly. But before that.... have you given any thought to staying in my pack?" Troy asked hopefully.

"I haven't decided yet... but I do want to give us a chance as mates" I said nervously, worried that I had angered him. I waited for the hit to come, flinching away a bit.

"That's okay, take your time" Troy said with a sad smile. He was looking directly at me and it was almost like he could see me. "You know.... I noticed you didn't have many things from your old pack, why is that?"

"Well... Since I am an omega I was given the house chores... cooking, cleaning, laundry" I sighed.

"But there are so few omegas left... especially female ones. How could they treat you that way?" He asked and I shrugged. "Well my pack doesn't work that way, so you'll be treated like every other wolf" Troy smiled as I finished my food. "But I would like to know if there is anything you would like to pursue? A certain job or hobby?" He asked.

"I do love to cook...." I said shyly.

"You can do that" Troy grinned at me, he looked like he wanted to reach out his hand but he stopped himself. "Liam and Terry are here. Can I let them in?" He asked and I nodded, forgetting that he couldn't see me.

"Yes" I said as I set the breakfast tray aside.

Two wolves walked in, seeing powerful. They had fairly large builds and were relatively attractive men. "Hi, I'm Terry, Troy's beta" the older of the two spoke first.

"Nice to meet you beta" I bowed respectfully.

"And I'm Liam. I'm one of the new patrol guards here" the other said with a huge grin on his face.

"Nice to meet you too" I said with a slight bow and Liam laughed.

"No need to bow to me, I don't have a high rank in this pack" Liam explained as he sat in the chair beside the bed. "So.... I was wondering if you could help me with something" he asked.

"We'll be back later" Troy said with a smile as he and Terry left the room.

"What could I possibly help you with?" I asked, surprised.

"I want to make a deal with you" he asked curiously and I nodded. "I really like Terry... and I think he knows but I want to get him to be my chosen mate" he started.

"How can I help with that?" I asked.

"Well since you live here in the pack house and seeing as you're in the alpha's room.... usually no one is allowed up here. If we spend time together I have more chances to run into the beta" he smiled happily.

"Okay....?" I tilted my head.

"And in return I'll help you win over the alpha and give you information about him" Liam bargained.

"You mean my mate?" I asked and Liam's jaw dropped.

"You're mates?" He asked, confused.

"Well second chance mates but yes..." I blushed.

"Does the alpha know?" He asked and I nodded. "This is amazing! I am so happy for you and the alpha" Liam cheered as he pulled me into a hug. "What a great blessing in all this mess... so here is the plan" he started and I laughed, I could see us being good friends.
