The Heart I Gave The Love I Lost

Chapter The Heart 5

Chapter 5

Perhaps fate had a cruel sense of humor, arranging for me to see Alexander one last time.

before the end..

I was oddly calm about the news, gently wiping away Rachel's tears. "Stop crying. have three months."

. I still

I refused to spend my final months in a hospital bed. After Rachel helped me check out, I used Alexander's "funeral money" to buy myself a nice plot of land. Ironic - I could never afford my own home while alive, but thanks to my ex-husband's contempt, I could at least have a permanent resting place.

I even visited the funeral home to choose my own arrangements: Rachel thought I was being morbid, but it felt strangely peaceful.

Back home, Rachel sent me a link with an urgent message: "You need to see this!"

-

It was footage from that night at the gala. The video captured everything Emily kicking me, Alexander's accusations, the wine being thrown at me as I knelt on the ground. The caption read:

"EXPOSED: Billionaire CEO Alexander Morgan's ex-wife, who abandoned him during his heart condition, now caught lying about being his heart donor to extort money!"

Just like that, I became viral news. Everyone learned about the heartless ex-wife of America's latest tech billionaire. The comments were brutal:

"She d

dumps him when he's sick, then crawls back begging for money when he's rich? Pathetic!" "She's not borrowing money, she's extorting him!" "The nerve to claim she donated her heart when some kind soul actually saved his life!" Internet sleuths dug up my address. People threw paint at my door, left garbage outside. I'd become public enemy number one.

I stayed silent. I knew exactly who was behind this.

Rachel was desperate to defend me, but what was the point? We had no power, no

influence. Nobody would believe us. They'd just attack her too.

Then I got a text: "Star Heights Building, coffee shop. Let's talk."

Emily was already there, a perfectly manicured hand wrapped around her coffee cup, her red lips curved in a vicious smile. "Well, well... if it isn't the infamous Sarah. From CEO's wife to viral disgrace - quite the downgrade, isn't it?" "Why are you doing this?"

She scoffed. "You actually think he loved you? He just pitied you. Get it straight - you're just the ex who abandoned him. Everything he has now, we built together. I'm the one he loves."

After a long silence, I met her eyes. "At least I saved his life."

She laughed like I'd told a joke. "Then go tell him. See who he believes the heartless. ex-wife or the woman who stood by him through everything?"

She had a point. To the world, I would always be the woman who abandoned Alexander

Morgan in his darkest hour.

Later, I noticed all the online hate had vanished. Alexander had called fifteen times. Of course - my scandal was embarrassing him. His ex-wife's reputation affecting his image. But I was dying anyway. I never called back.

Instead, I packed away every memory, every remnant of our past into boxes. I left our old apartment - I didn't want to taint the place where we'd once been happy with my death. I left instructions for everything else with Rachel.
