The Gay Nerd Who Stole His Heart

Chapter 66

"How is he?"

"He's fine. He's with me," Ella replied to Jonah, glancing towards Kylan, who was asleep in her bed. She sent a hand through her hair; it had been exhausting comforting Kylan as he sobbed for hours after the dinner with Jonah's parents. From all he had told her, it had been a disaster and ended with them being on a break. Although Kylan obviously did not want to, he felt that it would be best for the both of them.

To which Jonah completely disagreed.

"Where are you staying?" she asked him.

"I'm staying at Bradley's for the night, and hopefully, if Kylan wants to, we can go home tomorrow."

She nodded her head, shutting the bedroom door and heading for the kitchen, "He's been really sad about the whole thing."

"I get that, but pushing me away is ridiculous."

"I understand, but just give him time."

"He'll find himself someone else, Ella," Jonah sighed stressfully, clenching the steering wheel tighter, "I'm scared of that."

"He's in love with you. Kylan has been with you for the past six years. A little break isn't going to change that."

"We've been fighting a lot more recently, about every little thing. I stay at work too long, or I talk to a girl the wrong way."

"And that can be fixed. Every relationship goes through a phase like that."

Jonah shook his head, "Not us. Kylan and I were never like that before."

"It'll pass, just go to Bradley's and calm down. Kylan's asleep, but I'll let you come tomorrow morning, and you both can talk here."

"He's for sure going to avoid talking to me."

"Don't worry about that, alright? Just come in the morning."

Jonah hung up afterward, finally arriving at Bradley's, who was waiting for him at the front door. As he descended his vehicle, Bradley already had a beer in his hand, knowing that Jonah really needed one at this moment.

That night was one of the most depressive nights for both of them. Kylan woke up grouchy, his eyes still teary as he lethargically dragged his feet to the kitchen. Then, as he slumped down on a seat, Ella greeted him next with a plate of pancake and eggs.

"Eat up," she smiled at him, seeing his saddened look not even brighten at the sight of pancakes. It made her frown, "At least act like it's exciting."

"Yay," he whispered.

"Kylan, this situation can be solved. Just eat, shower, and then relax for a bit. I promise you'll both be happy as you were before."

"You don't understand, Ella," he shook his head, "we've been fighting a lot recently. A lot more than we used to—"

"Then talk to him about it."

"I don't want to talk to him. He was rude to me."

"And I've been rude to you before, and we still talked it out."

"Yea, but you're my cousin"

"Okay, I'm not arguing with you," she rolled her eyes and took a seat across from him, "we're eating, and that's that."

Kylan did eat the food, and he didn't even question when the doorbell rang. However, when he saw the only face he did not want to see at the moment, he immediately stood to his feet with widened eyes. Jonah's hair was still wet, meaning he had taken a shower and rapidly headed over.

"We need to go home, Ky." Kylan remained quiet for a moment, and Jonah added, "I have work in the morning."

"Then leave."

"You'll find your own way back then?" Jonah raised an eyebrow.

Kylan nodded his head, "Yes."

"Love you, bye," Jonah was seconds from exiting the door when Kylan called back for him.

"You'd just leave me here?"

Jonah appeared confused, "Yes, we're on a break, remember? I understand that you want space, so that's what I'm giving you."

"I thought you'd at least fight for me "

"That is me fighting for you, Ky."

"No, it's not. You're just leaving me."

"Obviously, I'm not if I came and asked you to come home with me," Jonah rolled his eyes and stepped forward, "what's wrong, Ky? If you don't want to have a break, then let's not." "I do."

"Then I'm giving you the fucking space you asked for," he hissed. "You keep saying I'm not giving you a say, and I am now, and you're lashing out at me."

"Because I thought I meant more to you, that you would fight for me."

"If you want to come home with me, then just say it."

Kylan gulped, "No, that's not the same thing."

Jonah shook his head, sending fingers through his hair as he exclaimed, "Kylan, you're being so confusing, holy shit."

"Maybe we should break up then."

Ella's eyes widened in shock, turning to Kylan and stepping towards him. Even Jonah was stunned that such words would even leave his mouth.

Jonah exclaimed, "Break up?!"

Kylan slowly nodded his head, although it was obvious he did not mean to say those words.

Ella rolled her eyes, "Now you're being way too over the top with this."

"No, I think it's best for us-"

"Kylan," Jonah was furious, his entire face flaming red as he clenched his fist, resisting the urge to slam it into the wall. Instead, he squeezed his eyes shut for a moment before returning them to Kylan and hissing, "we're leaving." Kylan gulped. And without another answer, he followed Jonah out of the door.

The first few hours of the ride were quiet, and Kylan continuously glanced towards Jonah. He had not said a word, but from how his knuckles were going white by how hard he gripped the steering wheel, Kylan knew Jonah was angry. However, soon enough, Jonah turned the wheel, stopped at the side of the road, and placed the vehicle in park.

"I can't drive like this. We need to talk about this, or else I'll go crazy," he grumbled, turning to Kylan, who inhaled sharply. "Did you seriously mean it when you said you wanted to break up?"

Kylan bit his bottom lip; there was no way he could ever be apart from Jonah, "No-"

"Then why would you say that shit, Kylan? Do you know what it does to me?" Jonah's eyes were growing teary, and he sent a hand through his hair, "I want us to grow together, and I love you from the very bottom of my heart Ky. But hearing stuff like that-"

"I didn't mean that, Jonah."

"You wouldn't have said it if you hadn't thought about it or meant it."

"I haven't. It just came out—"

"It didn't just come out, Kylan," Jonah sighed, resting his forehead on the steering wheel and exhaling a long breath.

Kylan shook his head stressfully, "Jonah, you know you mean the entire world to me. What happened yesterday was a lot to handle, and I did say some things I shouldn't have, but at the end of the day, I love you." Jonah did not respond.

Kylan leaned over to him, placing his palm on Jonah's back, "I know you were trying to reconnect with your parents, but hearing all those things hurt me, Jonah. It hurts me a lot."

"Don't you think it hurts me too?" Jonah said quietly, "That's my family, and they're treating you like shit. That hurts me. And I wish I could cut them off and never speak to them again, but that's my family."

"I know," Kylan nodded his head.

"It doesn't mean I don't love you. I shouldn't have put you in that situation, and I agree with you. But this relationship means everything to me; I can't lose you, Kylan."

"I can't lose you either."

Jonah finally raised his head, and it was Kylan the one of climbed over the cup holder and placed his lips on Jonah's. Soon enough, Jonah ripped Kylan's shirt off and reached for his belt buckle aggressively, both wanting more, and their desires were screaming through the roof.
