He was the last person I expected to meet on opening the door and my heart instantly flew into my chest as I gaped up at him. He regarded me slowly before his head cocked sideways.
"Sabrina? What are you doing here?" He asked in that smooth voice of his. My heart was pounding hard against my chest and I felt Tongue tied. Blood was rushing into my head and I was so nervous that I felt dizzy. "I-I..." I began but the words refuses to budge as I stared up at him.
"You said you were visiting the restroom, yes? You took so long and I was already missing you so I came to find you. This was the last place I expected to find you at." He continued and my heart dropped right into my stomach as he stepped over the threshold of the door. The urge to inch backward was so thick inside of me but I stood still as he came to stand before me.
"unless you didn't go to any restroom, perhaps? Perhaps it was a lie?" He drawled and I shook my head, finally finding my voice while Mr heart was almost tearing out of my ribs froin nervousness.
"I didn't lie. I really went to the restroom," I breathed out and he hummed, letting his eyes wander around a little.
"Are you sure? Because I did ask and no one saw you come by any of the numerous restrooms around the palace." He revealed along with a chilling smile and I almost crumbled to my feet. I never realized how scary Calden was till this very moment that I was outrightly being questioned by him for the first time. It was like I was speaking to a completely different
person.
I silently cursed myself out internally as I struggled to think of a lie. Why the hell didn't I think this far? I should have gone to the restroom first before coming to Nifra's wing because that way I'd have had a few witnesses. But now I don't, which means I'm fucked.
"That's because I- I used the restroom in this room." I blurted out before I could think
twice.
Calden hummed before his eyes moved from my face, over my head to probably settle on Nifra.
As if on cue, Nifra's flat voice cut through the silence.
"What the hell is going on?"
Calden's lips twitched.
"Mind your own business, Nifra."
"You're literally here in my wing. This is definitely my business. What's with the questions and answers?" She shot back at him and when I turned to stare at her, she was regarding Calden with so much venom.
"I was looking for my date. Not that it's any of your business." Calden snapped and Nifra scoffed and rolled her eyes.
When Calden glanced back at me, I let out a tiny sigh.
"Do you seriously not believe me? You can ask her if you want, I came here to use the restroom." I breathed out while pointing to Nifra, and silently hoping that she'd grab on and play along. My eyes locked with hers for a second and she was nodding and folding her
arms.

him, arms still folded around her middle.
"I don't answer to you, so how dare you question me?" Calden said almost immediately, anger in his voice and I stiffened against him again.
"You might be the king's advisor or whatever but we both know that doesn't give you the right." He continued in a tight voice but Nifra only scoffed again.
"With the king absent, I can question you if I damn well please." She spat at him and he threw his head back and laughed deeply.
"I can do whatever I want and you cannot do a thing about it. Nifra." Calden announced arrogantly before continuing. "Anyways, I used the throne room because my gorgeous girl likes it. Don't you?" At the end of his sentence, he glanced down at me and I nodded awkwardly.
Nifra rolled her eyes and laughed. "Well, you have a lot of explaining to do once the king returns. Good luck." She informed him.
Calden bared his teeth and said a single word.

My breath hooked in my throat and I ended up choking on my spit just as Nifra went still before her eyes widened in the next moment as it clicked for her.
"What the-" she was still speaking when Calden whirled around and tugged me out of the room, his hand on my wrist as he tugged me down the hallway, past the large compound till we got to the throne room again.
With the doors closed again, he caged me against the cold surface, a firm hand around my chin.
"I thought you spilled to that evil bitch." He got out and I stiffened before shaking my head while his eyes bored into mine.
