Chapter 49
Chapter 49
“Good, get it done! Be extremely cautious, keep your distance, and make sure not to get detected! Yes, start by investigating the person staying in Petunia Hospital night now. All right, that’s all for now!” After hanging up the phone, Marcellus forced a somewhat gloomy smile before swiftly making his way out of the hospital.
Aurelia returned to the hospital two hours later.
Scott was restless and kept looking toward the entrance of the ward.
He wished deep down that Aurelia would come back and accompany him, but he also felt guilty for causing trouble for her. He felt a strong sense of unease and didn’t want her to be delayed in her affairs because of him. Therefore, even though he was somewhat disappointed that she hadn’t returned for such a long time, his predominant feeling was relief
However, his gaze kept involuntarily shifting toward the door as if it were a subconscious physical response that couldn’t be stopped, no matter how
hard he tned to resist.
And it was precisely because of his subconscious and incessant glances toward the entrance of the ward that he managed to notice something.
If memory served him right, the man of average height, wearing a baseball cap that obscured his face, had passed by his ward’s entrance for the fourth
time within these two hours.
At first, Scott didn’t sense anything amiss, but when he caught sight of that person’s figure for the third time, casually passing by his ward’s entrance. he began to feel a sense of unease and found it rather peculiar.
Being cautious. Scott carefully got off the bed and approached the entrance. He peered outside through the glass on the ward’s door, but there was no one in sight.
He opened the door and leaned out to take a look at the left side of his ward, only to find the doctor’s duty room and the security door leading to the fire–fighting exit stairs. There were no other patient rooms in sight.
That person didn’t seem to be a doctor, and if he were a visitor, this path would only lead to the fire–fighting exit stairs with no patient rooms. The fact that he had passed by this entrance three times in succession was indeed strange.
Moreover, since it was a deluxe single–room ward, it was unlikely for regular visitors of other patients to use the fire–fighting exit stairs. They would have to take a long detour through the general wards. Could it be that….
Scott’s eyes widened in an instant. The only possibility that came to his mind was that those rich men who had beat him up couldn’t let him off easily. They must have tracked him down to the hospital, unwilling to leave him be.
If that was the case, he needed to inform Aurelia as soon as possible to avoid putting her in danger.
However, this was merely his speculation, and he still didn’t have concrete evidence to confirm it.
Therefore, Scott immediately returned to his bed and reclined against the pillow, appearing to be dozing off while keeping his eyes squinted, focused on the glass of the ward’s door.
Sure enough, after about half an hour, the man once again pretended to pass by his ward’s entrance. However, this time, his eyes glanced toward the room where Scott was located.
Scott’s heart started beating faster. Now, he had confirmed it. That person in the baseball cap was indeed targeting him.
“What should I do? I couldn’t let Aurelia come back. If she encountered them on the way.” While he was still deeply concerned, Aurelia had already arrived, carrying a thermos flask and a large paper bag of healthy meal boxes. The paper bag even had the words “The Navarrian” printed on it.
The abundance of food in the bag carried by Aurelia was all packed from “The Navarrian,” the most renowned authentic Navarrian dishes restaurant in Navarre. With so much food, it was no wonder Aurelia took quite some time to acquire it all.
“Scott, sorry for the wait. Are you hungry? It was crowded over there, and I’ve already urged them to expedite, but it still took quite some time!” Aurelia said as she approached.
“Aurelia, I’m not hangry. You didn’t have to buy so much expensive food for me. Just something simple would have been enough. If I had known that you went so far to get all this for me, I would have…” Scott’s voice trailed off.
“Would have what? You should eat even more for my sake after making me wait for so long! Come on, let’s eat in the small living room over here. Can you get out of bed? Shall I help you?” Aurelia suggested, her tone filled with concern.
“No, it’s fine. I can manage on my own! Aurelia, it’s getting late. Why don’t you go back and rest? I can eat by myself,” Scott insisted.
“Hmm? You want to eat alone?” Aurelia was taken aback, observing Scott’s bewildered expression. “Can you finish all the food by yourself? I bought so much specifically to eat with you. But now it seems like you don’t welcome me, Scott!”
“No, that’s not it, Aurelia. I didn’t mean it that way. I just thought you should go home earlier. Your family would be worried.” Not wanting Aurelia to worry further about his situation, Scott thought for a moment and decided not to mention the matter of the man with the baseball cap.
However, he underestimated Aurelia.
-Having experienced both a previous life and a rebirth, she possessed a keen insight that surpassed the naivety of Scott, who was still relatively
inexperienced. It would be difficult to deceive her with a mere excuse or reason.

Aurelia deliberately showed sadness. She placed the thermos flask and the paper bag of packed food on the coffee table in the visiting area of the ward.
“Scott, you know that I’m divorced, and there’s no one waiting for me at home to have a meal together. Yet… Forget it. Since you want to eat alone, I won’t force you. I’ll just go back. I’m leaving!” As she spoke, Aurelia turned around, ready to leave.
Scott was taken aback, and a look of deep regret and frustration appeared on his face. He quickly reached out and grabbed Aurelia’s arm, apologizing and explaining himself in a hurry. “Aurelia, it’s not like that. I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it that way. I’m worried about you getting involved. When you were away, a man wearing a baseball cap purposefully passed by my ward’s entrance four times. I’m afraid that a group of people has malicious intentions and might come after me. I’m worried that you would be harmed because of me. That’s why I wanted to deceive you and make you go back first!”
“And then what? After deceiving me to go back, what are you planning to do? Stay alone in the ward and fight against them, continue to be beaten up, or perhaps secretly escape from the hospital and return to school? Scott, you’re simply…” Aurelia’s heart immediately lightened when she heard Scott’s genuine reason. She knew deep down that this pure–hearted young man could never reject or distance himself from her because of her divorce or any other reason.
However, soon after, anger surged within Aurelia’s heart. It was not because of Scott’s well–intentioned but stupid attempt to protect her using the most naive method, but because of Marcellus, that despicable and shameless person, who not only had people tailing her in secret but now dared to send someone to spy on and monitor Scott’s actions.
