Chapter 29
Chapter 29
But looking from another perspective. Aurelia’s words were indeed valid. She had taken the initiative to initiate the divorce today and demanded alimony. He might lose the opportunity if he didn’t seize it. After all, women were known to be fickle.
She had always been obsessed with him. If her impulsiveness subsided and she changed her mind about the divorce, it would not be easy for them to divorce.
Now that the Francois family had finally established a relationship with the Longley family, it was time to show loyalty. What else could be more appropriate than using his former father–in–law’s official position?
Therefore, he had to divorce Aurelia as soon as possible!
“Fine! Considering that we were married for three years, I’ll give you 10 million dollars!”
Aurelia was not surprised by his response and reaction. She smiled and thanked him, “Thank you, Mr. Francois!”
“You!”
Despite Marcellus‘ usual profound composure, he couldn’t help but feel angry by Aurelia’s provocation. “Sign the agreement.
now!”
However, Aurelia chuckled coldly and asked, “Where’s the money?”
“You don’t trust me, Aurelia? Do I seem to be the kind of person who would refuse to pay divorce alimony? It seems you intentionally tried to provoke me today!”
“Don’t forget that we are going to divorce now. Why should I trust you?”
“You! Fine, you’re ruthless!”
With that, Marcellus took out his checkbook from his slightly disheveled suit pocket and was ready to write on it.
Aurelia added coldly, “No need for the check! If I’m not mistaken, you have an account with Goldleaf Bank Group. It would be much more convenient to transfer the money directly to my overseas account since I have no intention of staying here in the country after divorce.”
Upon hearing her words, Marcellus immediately looked at her warily, uncertain whether Aurelia had just devised this idea. impulsively or had been planning in her heart all along.
It would be explainable if it were the former reason. She probably didn’t want to see him again to be reminded of the embarrassment of the divorce.
But if it was the latter, he wondered who would ultimately benefit from the farce tonight.
Marcellus couldn’t help but feel a twinge of hesitation about going through with the divorce now. He pondered if he should take some more time to observe the situation.
But as soon as the thought crossed his mind, he noticed a faint smirk tugging at the corner of Aurelia’s lips. It was a subtle but unmistakable expression of satisfaction. Any lingering hesitation in his heart instantly vanished without a trace.
As if he had seen Aurelia’s thought, he immediately agreed, “Fine! It’s all up to you. What’s your account number?”
Hearing that, Aurelia looked at him with a surprised expression, then paused momentarily before turning around and silently rummaging through her bag for her phone.
Seeing her reaction, Marcellus had no more doubts. He immediately pulled out his phone and dialed an international call to do the agreed transaction for their divorce via telephone banking.
Although the method was obviously more costly than transferring the funds through online banking, Marcellus was already, caught up in his self–perceived triumph. He didn’t care about the extra expenses.
After all, he had initially planned to offer a mere 2 million dollars, and now he willingly provided an additional 8 million dollars! The handling fee amounting to just a few percentage points was inconsequential to him.
Aurelia extended her slender fingers and handed him her new white color phone. The screen displayed her international bank account number with a series of digits.
Marcellus glanced at her. His equally well–defined and slender yet strong fingers were seen moving swiftly as he entered the account numbers based on the voice prompt. After a few minutes, he finally completed the few million Epean dollars international transaction.
There, you can check it yourself!”
Marcellus tossed her phone back to her.
Aurelia couldn’t help to sneer as she watched him go through each step.
Even the pain in her stomach seemed to disappear.
She picked up her phone and dialed the inquiry number of the bank where her account was held. The automated voice confirmed the receipt of an amount close to 10 million Epean dollars, but it would take at least two hours to be available in real–time as it was still pending.
Nevertheless, the transfer was now a done deal and irreversible. Even if Marcellus wanted to cancel the transaction, he would have to visit Goldleaf Bank Group personally. But he didn’t have time to do that and she wouldn’t give him that opportunity.
Aurelia took a black rollerball pen upon ending the call. She then signed her name on all three copies of the divorce agreement. Then she threw them to him, gesturing for him to do the same.
Marcellus also immediately stepped forward and bent down to sign his name.
Their three–year marriage had officially ended as he penned the last stroke of his name.
It was 1:15 a.m. on March 8, 2006, Bruiville time.
Accurately speaking, it was Aurelia’s birthday and their three–year wedding anniversary.
However, it was also the day she divorced Marcellus in her previous life.
The only difference was that in her previous life, they signed the divorce agreement at noon and not in the early hours like
this time.
But regardless of the process, they were finally divorced!
And she had completely won! It was just that Marcellus remained oblivious at the very moment.
If it weren’t for the sudden throbbing pain in her abdomen that reminded her of her failure in the presence of the innocent child, Aurelia would have laughed out loud.
But for now, she had to go to the hospital.
She consciously put away one of the three divorce agreements and stuffed it into her bag. Without asking for anything else, she picked up her bag and prepared to leave.
Marcellus was stunned. “Where are you going?” he asked.
Aurelia stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him. She answered sarcastically, “Mr. Francois, let me remind you that we are already divorced! I don’t need to report it to you where I’m going, right?”
“Aurelia, you-

Marcellus was silent.
“Okay! If you have no objections, then goodbye, ex–husband!”
