The Elements

“Shadow.” someone said shaking me softly.

I groaned in response.

“Shadow.” now the shaking wasn’t so soft anymore.

I mumbled some incoherent words and pushed the hands away.

“Get the hell out of our room. I’ll wake her up because you suck even at this easy task.” another voice said and it sounded like a girl.

The first person scoffed. “Easy task my ass. Whatever. I’ll be downstairs if you need help just yell.”

“The hell I’ll need.” the girl said and waiting until the door slams close before she speaks again. “Wake up idiot. We have to go in hell again.”

I groaned when a pillow hit my face. “But I don’t want to.”

“Neither do I, but life sucks so get your ass in the bathroom. Now.”

I kicked the blanket off with my legs and walked into the bathroom with my eyes closed. That was a bad move because I walked into the door’s frame.

“Fuck. Stupid door. Stupid door frame. Stupid school. Stupid morning. Stupid closed eyes.” I kept cursing under my frame and doing my morning routine.

When I walked in the walk-in closet I saw Sparky frowning at her clothes and my eyes went big.

“OMG! SPARKY!! YOU’RE BACK!!” I started to scream and I jumped on her.

She wasn’t expecting that and both us hit the floor with a thud.

She groaned in pain but hugged me back. “You stupid! You could walk to me and hug me like a normal person!”

“The good thing is that I’m not a normal person and it’s more fun this way.” I said and got up from the floor.

“Fun my ass! Now shut up and help me. I don’t know what to wear today.” she said after she got up too.

I narrowed my eyes at her. “It’s some kind of special occasion?”

“No.” she replayed a little to quick.

“Or maybe someone to impress?” a smirk was forming on my lips when she blushed.

“No!”

“Yeah, sure. And I’m the princess of the all sparkling things from this world.” I said while I pulled out a black shirt which had a picture with a dog with glasses on, and a pair on black skinny jeans. “Wear this. If you wanted to look good for Ash you could just tell me.”

She punched me in the shoulder not very softly. “Shut the fuck up!”

“So you’re not denying it!!” I yelled after her because she stormed back into the room.

“SHUT UP SHADOW!”

I started to laugh and picked my outfit. I decided to wear a white shirt that said ‘Not a morning person’, because it’s so me, and a pair of black denim shorts. I quickly changed in them and put my black converse on.

“I’m ready Sp- Of course she would go without me.” I sighed and ran in the kitchen with elementar speed.

“Hi guys! I’m back!” I said sitting on the counter with my legs crossed.

Flame scoffed. “Hello you too, Harley.”

“Aww! You guessed right! I was acting like Harley Quinn. She is the best.”

“I approve!!” Sparky mumbled with her mouth full of cereals.

River smacked me on the back of my head. “Get your ass off from my counter.”

I jumped off and walked to my seat. “Meanie.”

He rolled his eyes and placed a bowl in front of me. “Shut up and eat.”

I inspected the bowl and smiled like a maniac. “I LOVE STRAWBERRY MINIS!!” I yelled and started to dig in.

River shook his head with a smile on his face.

“Good morning my sweet and beautiful friends.” Hazel said and waltzed into the room followed by a grumpy Ash and a half asleep Lincoln.

I gasped. “Did you just friendzoned us all?”

“Yes. I’m sorry. I couldn’t give you guys false hopes anymore!” he said dramatically and faked a sob.

“WOULD YOU SHUT UP!” Ash roared and we all remained silent.

“Meanie.” I mumbled and stuffed my mouth with cereals.

After 10 minutes of agonizing silence we all were ready to leave. I was the first one who sprinted out of the house.

“LET’S GO!!!” I yelled and ran at high speed.

I was in my usual seat in History in less than 1 minute. I don’t know why I was in such a good mood. Maybe because I could finally sleep a whole night without having a nightmare.

Sparky walked in a minute later and sit next to me. She pulled out her books without sparing me a glace. Since this morning she looked a little mad or something.

“Sparky! Are you mad at me?” I asked after 5 minutes of silence.

She scoffed and glared at me. “What do you think?? I just came back last night and the boys told me about what happened! The boys told me! Not you! And I told you before I left to use that damn phone if something happens!”

With each word she yelled at me I sink into my seat more. Now I was half under our table and I was looking at her with sorry eyes.

“I’m sorry but that wasn’t something I could tell you at the phone! And I can’t talk about that not even no! So stop screaming at me!” I yelled back and lights started to flicker.

I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“Calm down. Don’t cause a scene here.” Black was the one talking and he was the one who’s hand is on my shoulder.

I stared into his calm black eyes to calm down for a minute before I turned my head away from him. “Whatever.”

Half way through the hour the speakers boomed with a strong male voice.

“The members of Team Alpha are waited in the principal office. I repeat. The members of Team Alpha are waited in the principal office right now.”

I covered my ears with my hands because that voice was too loud and it was scratching my brain.

I shared a look with Sparky and Black, and we got up from our seats and exited the room in the same time.

The rest of the guys were already waiting for us outside.

“What do you think he wants to tell us?” I asked as we were walking down the hall.

“We don’t have to know until we talk to him.” River said but I fell that he wanted to say more.

“But.” I pushed it a little.

“But I think it’s time for our first official mission as a team.” he said with a frown.

“And that is a good thing, right?” Lincoln voiced my question.

This time Flame was the one to answer. “Depends on what kind of mission we are given. Let’s hope is not a suicidal one.”

Now I started to worry a little because Raven was crazy and he could give us that kind of mission.

I turned to my left wanting to talk with Sparky, but she was already talking with Ash. And I mean a real conversation when he was talking too, and not one when you talk and he just shrugs.

I smiled at them and looked ahead. When we arrived in front of the office, we all put on our serious faces and River knocked.

“Come in.”

River opened the door and we all walked in. Raven was staying in his usual seat, behind his big desk still full of papers and folders.

“Look at them! My favorite students! Please take a seat!” he said a little to happy.

We all seat down. To my surprise, there where 9 leather seat, one for each of us. I seated between Flame and Black, while Sparky was between Black and Ash. To my displease I was right in front of the lunatic principal that was staring at me with a wide crazy like grin.

River cleared his throat to catch his attention. “I heard that you wanted to see us.”

His head snapped to River, the crazy grin intact. “Yes, yes. I wanted to ask how training works. How are you working as a team? Do you get alone?”

“Do you mean if we get along?” River said and Flame was about to burst out laughing.

“Yes. That’s what I said.”

“Right. We are starting to work out. We don’t have any problem and we are making progress.” River was in his formal mode and I wanted to laugh at his serious face but I know better not to.

Raven’s eyes sparkled with a crazy glint. “Great. GREAT! It’s wonderful then!”

We watched in silence how he searched through the mess of papers from his desk. After 5 minutes of frenetically search and throwing papers everywhere, he yelled ‘AHA’ and pulled out a folder from the base of a big pile. Of course the pile went down faster than the Titanic, but not my problem.

“This folder” shoves the folder in my face “contains the details of your first mission!”

I tried to take the folder from him but he snatched it back. “No, no! Not yet.”

I suppressed an eyes roll and a sarcastic come back. “What we have to do?” I asked through clenched teeth.

He tsked me. He fucking tsked me! “An impatience one I see.”

I was so close to punching him in the face.

“So what kind of mission it is, Mr. Amazon?” River asked with his formal tone.

“It’s a rescue mission.”

River, Flame, Black and Ash looked at Raven with big eyes.

“Mr. Amazon, with all my respects I don’t think that it’s a good idea to start with this kind of mission.” River said with a forced smile.

Why was River some respectful with Raven? He has more power than Raven. He is the head of the Moonlights after all.

Raven tiled his head to a side. “And why not? You are the best students here after all. And Team A started with a tracking mission.”

A muscle in his jaw flexed. “Yes, but tracking is a lot more easier than rescuing. And I think it’s a bad idea because we aren’t ready yet. We have a lot to learn and a lot of things to decide.”

Raven studied River for a minute. “You have two weeks to get ready and I think it’s just enough time. You will go and accomplish that mission even if you like it or not. In this two weeks you can skip school in order to improve your skills. Now you can leave.” he said and threw the folder at me.

I easily cached it while River stormed out of the room. I glared at this lunatic. I don’t care if he can expel me.

When he saw me glaring he started to laugh. Is he mental? Of course he is! I don’t know why I’m asking!

“I see that the temperament is a family thing. Stop with that look. You remained me of your father to much.”

My glare harden at the mention of my dad. “First, it’s not a look. It’s a glare! And second, what the fuck you know about my dad?!” I shouted at him.

“Just enough.” he was looking at me with daring eyes and he looked very excited for some reason.

I wanted to ask him what the fuck he meant with that but Black dragged me out of the office by the collar of my shirt.

“LET ME GO!” I yelled when the door slammed shut after me.

He let me go and I fell on my butt. “Would you calm down? This is exactly what he wants!” he shouted back at me.

“What he wants?! To piss me off?! Because it fucking worked!!” I was almost ragging and lights started to flicker again.

How dares he to talks about my dad?? HOW?? And he pissed off River! It’s impossible to piss him off that easily! It’s River we are talking about here!

“Okay, we really have to go. The other are already ahead. We will meet with them back at our house.” he said and started to drag me again but this time by my hand.

I tried to wiggle out of his grip but he was to damn strong. “I know the way to our house just fine! Let me go!”

He rolled his eyes and continued to drag me. “Why are you so against me?”

I scoffed. “Don’t take it so personal. I just don’t like people touching me and dragging me around.”

“You didn’t complain about me touching you when you slept in my arms.”

I couldn’t see his face but I can hear the smirk in his voice.

“That was a totally different situation and you fucking know it!” I yelled and slapped him on his shoulder.

He laughed and whimpered in the same time. “Damn, Light. You are a good puncher to my bad luck.”

I smiled with pride. “Yes, yes I fucking am.” I said as we entered the living room where everyone else was already settled on the couches.

Me and Black took a seat too and looked at River who was standing in front of us.

“We need to make a plan and we need to talk.”

How much I hate that sentence.
