The Divorcee Who Shines

Chapter 167 Going On A Blind Date

Chapter 167 Going on a Blind Date

Ranita had been with him for three years, giving her all in both work and life. What kind of person she was should have been clear to him by now. But today, he asked such a chilling question.

"Do you also suspect me?" Ranita didn't want to talk anymore. "Ranita, I didn't say it was you. Just calm down."

Ranita couldn't stay calm. She turned away, her voice low and heavy. "Brendon, please go."

"I'd like to be alone for a while."

Brendon walked up to her and grabbed her face, forcing her to look into his eyes. "Ranita, let me take you out for lunch. Aren't you supposed to get your stitches removed this afternoon?"

Ranita pushed his hand away and spoke coolly, "No need, it's just a small matter. You don't have to trouble yourself."

"Miss Murphy is being discharged today, aren't you going back home for dinner?"

Brendon's eyes showed a hint of displeasure. Why did this woman always push him away?

“It's none of your business whether I go back or not!" Brendon gritted his teeth and forcefully took Ranita outside for lunch.

On weekdays he was very busy.

During the meal, he received several phone calls while Ranita silently ate. After finishing most of the food she realized that Vincent had sent her a message.

"Ranita, are you busy? If you have time I'd like to invite you out for dinner." He paused before sending another message saying, "If it makes things difficult for you, then we don't have to eat.”

Ranita replied, "Sure thing! You pick the time. It's not me who finds things difficult but rather Professor who can be quite annoying at times."

"That works! How about Saturday night? We'll meet at the food street near Kurima Foreign Studies University.”

It had been a long time since Ranita had been there so she was about to reply when Brendon leaned in close with his breath blowing on her cheek as he coldly asked, "Who is it?"

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Brendon staring intently at their conversation on her phone almost burning a hole through it.

"A senior from college." She replied as she typed.

"Why is he looking for you?" Brendon asked again with his gaze fixed on their conversation making Ranita feel hot all over from embarrassment.

"Blind date." She answered calmly trying not show any emotion but adding some coquettishness in tone, "He was introduced by Professor He himself - also an alumnus from Kurima Foreign Studies University - tall and handsome; used work as an interpreter too... even appeared on national news once! All us juniors admire him!"

Also from Kurima Foreign Studies University?! A senior?! Admired by everyone?!

Brendon felt like everything inside him was turning upside down but adults were good at hiding emotions so he spoke calmly, “Did you forget that we're still technically married?”

Ranita pursed her lips. “I thought it was only a matter of time."

With only a few days left in the one-month cooling-off period for their divorce, Brendon wouldn't change his mind about her, and she had no chance to change hers. The outcome was already predetermined. “Brendon, when you signed the divorce papers, you wished me happiness. So whoever I date is none of your business.”

Brendon's heart ached.

He wished her happiness so that she could be free from this marriage and bravely continue loving the person she loved instead of going on blind dates!

This made his concession seem meaningless.
