Chapter 28
Chapter 28
Ever since Damon gave me bouquet of flowers, I can’t help but constantly gaze at it whenever I enter my office.
I want to snap myself because I’m starting to look insane. I’m starting to look foolish. Thankfully, Cecilia has stopped teasing me.
But when she finds out that it didn’t really come from Dominic but from another man, it’s highly likely she might sl*p this to Dominic and claim it came from someone else. I dislike chaos, and I’m tired of it, especially considering what the family brought into my life five years ago.
I took a deep breath and settled into my swivel chair. I spun around and checked the clock; turns out, I arrived at work too early today. Dominic didn’t question why I was early; he simply escorted me here and went off to his own company.
I glanced at my phone, feeling like I was waiting for a message. I scrolled through my messages, checking if there was anything unread, but all of them had been read. I sighed, placing my phone on the desk. I’m alone in the office now, and since it’s still quite carly, Cecilia hasn’t arrived yet. Looks like I need a cup of coffee for now.
I stood up and left my office, heading to the lounge to brew my own coffee. While brewing, my phone suddenly rang as if someone was calling.
I answered it without checking the caller ID, pressing it against my ear and shoulder while stirring my coffee. “Who is this?” I asked politely. I heard a suppressed laugh on the other end as if the person was trying to hold it back. I furrowed my brow, wondering why they spoke so suddenly. “I’m not used to your voice being so affectionate,” he said.
Upon hearing his deep voice, my eyebrows furrowed even more, and they practically glued together. I checked the caller ID; the number wasn’t registered on my cellphone, but based on his tone and how he spoke, I had an idea of who it might be.
“Damon?” I asked, trying to confirm if it was indeed him calling me. I heard him chuckle again teasingly. “The one and only,” he replied.
I blinked, puzzled, confused, but simultaneously, my heart raced, and I suddenly
remembered the flower he gave me. I restrained myself from asking about it. Instead, I composed myself, confidently asking him, “Why did you call me?”
“Why? Is it wrong for me to hear your beautiful voice?”

I couldn’t help but grimace at his response. I lowered my cellphone and took a sip of my coffee. I tried to calm myself, recalling Cecilia’s warnings about Damon’s true intentions. I picked up my cellphone again and returned to my office.
“If you want to hear a beautiful voice, find a singer. Well, I’m not a singer. So, good day and goodbye.” Before I could hear his retort, I promptly ended the call.
Disappointed, I sat back in my swivel chair in the office. I massaged my forehead. Damon’s image, our past encounters, the flower, and everything else kept replaying in my mind. Would he ever stop bothering me?
I don’t know what that guy’s trip is in his life. I just sighed and tried to push through all my work now. As much as possible, because even though it’s still morning, I feel like I’m already tired.
Yes, he gave me flowers, and I was slightly happy about that. But I don’t know why, when I feel his presence and hear his voice, I can’t shake off what Cecilia and I talked about. Because everything she said made sense and really struck a chord in and mind.
my heart
Honestly, why is Damon doing this? Is he really trying to win me over? Or is he just following orders from his family? When we were together, he couldn’t defend me. Now, he wants me to come back to him. Does he think it’s that easy? Well, he needs to go through a tough and violent way before he can win me over again.
I was surprised when my cellphone suddenly rang again. I checked the caller, and it was a different number. At first, I thought it might be an international stockholder or someone from another company interested in investing in my cosmetic line.
However, part of me was thinking that it might be him again, causing a disturbance. But since I had no solid evidence, and I didn’t want to assume it was him, I answeret the call and put the cellphone to my ear.
“Hello, good morning, who is this?” I formally asked. “I’m outside your office,” a voice on the other line replied.
“What?” Before I could finish my sentence, he abruptly ended the call. I furrowed my brow and looked at the door of my office. From my position, I could see the silhouette of a person standing there. I couldn’t move, and I became even more confused. Is he here? What is he doing here?
I quickly stood up from my seat and swiftly crossed the distance to the door. I forcefully opened it, and the moment I saw him standing outside my office door, I couldn’t help it.

I raised my voice, “What are you doing here again?! And how did you get here?!” I shouted at him. He didn’t answer my question. Instead, he entered as if he owned the company.
I was shocked and couldn’t believe his behavior. I closed the door and followed him, pointing my index finger at him. “Hey, talk to me. Answer my question!” I shouted at him again. He stopped in his tracks and casually faced me. One eyebrow raised as he looked me up and down.
“Is that the way you will treat your husband?” he asked. I scoffed at what he said, raising my eyebrows in disbelief.
“What husband are you talking about-?” Before I could finish what I was saying, I heard a voice again from outside my office and the sound of footsteps approaching the door.
“Honey, are you here? I forgot to give you something.”
A
A chill ran through my entire b*dy. It felt like cold water had been poured over me as I realized whose voice it was. I slowly turned towards the door and saw that the doorknob was already turning, a clear sign that he was about to enter.
Dominic is here.
