Chapter 1412
Chapter 1412
“Aunt Thalassa, can I have a hug?” Helena nestled softly into Thalassa’s embrace, her chubby little arms wrapped around
Thalassa’s neck, and her plump cheeks rubbed affectionately against Thalassa’s face.
Tiny tears transferred onto Thalassa’s skin, soft and cool, melting right into her heart.
“Of course, Helena. Aunt Thalassa loves you to the moon and back, Thalassa cooed, leaning in to press her cheek gently
against Helena’s.
Hertha came into the room, carrying Julian with a beaming smile. “I told you to come up with me. I couldn’t carry both munchkins
by myself.”
Hertha’s face lit up with joy whenever she saw her two adorable children, a happiness that radiated from within.
She felt that her greatest achievement in life was giving birth to two bright and lovely kids.
Three years ago, the night Hertha agreed to help Alaric break off his engagement, she believed his sweet nothings, thinking he
truly cared only for her and would marry her.
Naively, she agreed to sleep with him. Little did she expect that from just that one night, she would become pregnant.
And with twins, no less!
Hertha was stunned just like Thalassa, finding herself expecting before marriage!
But having been the godmother to Thalassa’s four kids, and with her love for children, the moment Hertha discovered her
pregnancy, she made a resolute decision. She would have her babies and raise them on her own as a strong, independent
single mother!
She couldn’t possibly turn to Alaric, especially after witnessing him in bed with Georgia and with their wedding on the horizon.
Alaric’s mother, Angelina, in an attempt to humiliate her, even offered her a hefty sum to stay away from Alaric.
With the Falconer family acting so ruthlessly, how could she shamelessly approach Alaric to acknowledge their children?
So, she gave birth to them secretly. Like Thalassa once did, she became a joyous single mother.
Hertha was confident that as long as she kept her distance, Alaric would never discover the existence of their two children. Nor
would she ever let the Falconer family take them away.
“Ms. Kensington, you’re back. I’m sorry, I was busy cooking and couldn’t tend to the little ones,” Bridget apologized as she
emerged from the kitchen, holding a spatula.
Bridget, a simple woman in her fifties, was the babies‘ nanny. She was hired to take care of the children and manage the
household chores.
Hertha was a successful jewelry designer and earned a comfortable living. Supporting two children and affording a nanny was
well within her means.
As for why Hertha didn’t ask her own mother for help with the kids, it was because she had never told her parents that she had
become a mother! She went even further than Thalassa in keeping secrets. She hadn’t even told her own parents!
In other words, Hertha’s parents were completely unaware that they had two grandchildren who were already two years old!
When Hertha fell pregnant, she fabricated a story about being sent abroad for work for a year. She secluded herself in her own
purchased home with a nanny to care for her, stealthily giving birth and raising her children in secret.
“Bridget, don’t worry. You don’t have to apologize. You manage our home and care for the kids. I couldn’t be more grateful,”
Hertha said, ever understanding and appreciative.
Bridget had been with Hertha since her pregnancy, looking after her and the children all this time.
