Chapter 222: Staying Over
"Have you set up?" Harry asked, and they nodded. We first have to make sure that he comes home today; didn't the private detective say he was in the city?
"Those people distracted us; we don't know if he is back yet. We only need to get him on video." Ethan said.
"My aunt is soft-hearted. She is the kind of person who will take him back if he begs enough; just set up a camera on the streets, and we will take turns watching him when he comes in. Maybe he hasn't returned yet," Harry said, then walked towards The room Lydia had entered. He paused by the door before knocking. He noticed she was still on the phone when she
opened the door. He entered and stood by the corner, letting her finish her conversation, but she could not continue talking with him in the room, so she ended the call and looked his way.
"I should get going," she said to him, and he panicked slightly.
"Why? It is already dark. I will take you back tomorrow," he said, but she shook her head.
"Are you afraid I will do something to you?" He blocked her way. His irritation was growing. He was feeling restless and did not know how to let it out.
"No," she said. "I just can't be out this long."
"But is it safer for you to be returning at this time of the night?" he asked, showing her the time on his phone. It was past ten p.m. at night.
"I will take you back tomorrow. I would take you back now, but I am slightly busy," he said, and she relented. Seeing that she had let it go, he was relieved.
"What are you all doing here, anyway?" She asked; she had been curious for so long.
"Catching a cheater. What to join?" he asked.
"A cheater?" she asked.
""Would
you like to join?" he asked. In truth, he was not sure why he was asking her to join. He was just uncomfortable with her being so far away.
"A cheater, I didn't know you were that bored," she said, and she walked out the door with him. When they stepped into the living room, Mark and Ethan were nowhere to be seen. "Where are they?" Lydia asked.
"They went to set up surveillance outside our rental on the street," he answered as they sat.
"That serious?" She asked, "What kind of cheater is this?"
"My aunt's husband," he answered. "Remember when we met at the store back in school?" he asked, and she nodded in response.
Chapter 222. Staying Over
"One of my friends had seen him with some woman a while back, so I had asked Mark to look into it. His findings showed it was true, but we could not get a clear picture of the woman in question. That day, I saw her at the store with my uncle," he explained, and she suddenly understood his odd actions that day.
"So that time...she said, but could not finish.
"Yes, it was them back then," he nodded. We found that he was renting a house next door for his mistress. If we could just get some pictures or videos, it would be fine."
"My aunt is quite soft-hearted, so it will not be her who handles it. It will probably be my father. From what the private detective we hired said, his mistress seems to be pregnant," he
said.
"It couldn't be the woman I saw when I came, right?" Lydia asked, and he sat up straight.
"What woman?" he asked.
"When I arrived, some paranoid woman got in my face, asking why I was following her. She seemed pregnant and familiar, but it was too dark to say," Lydia said.
"Familiar? Then she must be the one," she heard Mark, who had just returned with Ethan, say the moment they walked into the living room.
"Why?" Lydia asked."
"Professor Mandy James is the mistress; of course, she would seem familiar. Her philosophy course is taken by almost all first-year students," Ethan said, and Lydia's eyes turned to globes. She had always heard of such scandals, but never had it happened close enough in her sphere to spectate. "Then, why don't we go and have a peek?" Lydia asked, and they all looked her way.
"What do
you
mean?" Harry asked.
"Well, she came back right about the time I arrived here. With all the trouble caused by those who came by, there is a possibility your uncle has already entered the house due to the ruckus. You only want to know if he is in, right? That is fine; there are woods just beyond this wall. It is high ground. There is a chance we can see into their house," she said, and the three of them glanced at each other.
"Sister-in-law, you are up to something there." Ethan said, "We have this long-range camera inside." He hurried into the room.
""You can't come; it is too dangerous," Harry said.
"We are only climbing a rock. Besides, how can I stay back when there is such an interesting thing going on? I would be too curious," she answered.
"Then, you must make sure to not leave my side," he warned, and she nodded vigorously.

Ethan returned with the long-range camera, and they set off. They found a small ladder in the shed and climbed over the wall of their rented house to higher ground on the other side. It seemed that the wall was not just a fence but also a retaining wall, keeping the soil outside from eroding in. Harry helped Lydia onto the other side, and they
made their way towards the next-door neighbor's backyard. When they went there, they soon realized that they were still too low on the ground to see anything.
"We should climb farther up," Lydia suggested, and they all started climbing up. Every once in a while, they would stop so that Ethan could gauge through the camera if they could see anything from their location.
"I see them; I see them." Ethan said that and started taking pictures. Harry walked over to stand behind Lydia, who was leaning against a tree. She took out her phone, opened the camera app, and zoomed far to see into the world through the opened window. Harry could smell her perfume while standing that close; he was slightly intoxicated with the scent. Leaning in as though to better see her camera, he took a deep breath. Lydia stiffened at how close he was; she could feel his breath on her neck.
"Lydia, what kind of art do you study?" asked as though making conversation. But only he knew how much he was in need of distraction.
"Visual arts," she answered.
"What kind?"
"Painting," she answered.
"Have you ever painted a person?" he asked.
"Yes, it is part of our course work," she answered.
"What would you do if you painted me?" He asked, and she paused and resisted the urge to look back at him.
"Why?" she asked.
"I am curious what I look like in your eyes," he said, and she could not help but turn to look at him. The moment she turned, they were almost plastered to his chest. How close they were standing shocked her so much. She made to step back, almost slipping, but his arm wrapped strongly around her waist and pulled her to him. What she wanted to avoid ended up being the result. They were now nearly nose-to-nose.
"Harry, "she could almost not recognize her voice when it left her throat.
"Lydia, I prefer you call me by my name and not Lord Harry,' he said.
"Why?" She dared not look up. "I promise we are only calling you in private."
